Problems with 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 STRUCTURE

I have a 2001 dodge ram 2500 and my dashboard has shattered. i now have a large hole in my dash. i called dodge and they said they would do nothing. several of my friends have the same problem and one of them has electrical problems from this, her headlights don't work sometimes. *tr

We bought a new 2001 dodge 2500 in october 2000. approximately 5 years after we bought it the dash began falling apart. at the time it began cracking, i wrote dodge a letter explaining our problem and requesting they repair the dash "in good faith" even though it was out of warranty. they never even bothered to reply. every single person we know with this dodge truck has a dash that is falling apart. there are huge chunks now creating holes in the dash. parts of the dash are falling down under the dash area into places i can't safely access. we have unsuccessfully attempted to glue the cracks approximately 20 times. my fear is that it's getting so bad it will soon interfere with wiring, air bags and safety of the vehicle as chunks of the dash are falling into areas of the truck where they are not intended to be. i don't think we should have to wait for an accident to happen to see this dash recalled. since dodge is not accepting responsibility for this obvious defect, i think the government should force them to recall the truck and repair the damage. *tr

About 2 months ago the dash on my 2001 dodge 2500 pick up split apart over the passenger air bag and the glove compartment, then today the dash split apart over the driver side gages. dodge said this is not a defect but i believe this is a flaw in the materia and the formation of the dash. please let me know is you have any other complaint on this item. thank you. *ak

The dashboard in this vehicle has been cracked and broken since 2004. it continues to break and chip causing pieces of sharp plastic to fall inside the inner dash area. when driving at night and attempting to change from low beam, to high beam, the lights will go out and will not be operational. you have to continuously flip the high beam switch multiple times to get the lights to come back on. this did not start until the dash cracked and plastic pieces fell inside the dash. both of these issues continue to this date. *tr

Entire dashboard crumbling, cracking, falling apart, disintegrating on 2001 dodge ram 2500. i believe this to be a significant safety issue as vehicle wiring is exposed and entire support structure of dash especially around the passenger safety air bag is falling apart. i believe this issue has rendered the air bag useless. plastic shards are razor sharp and dangerous. *tr

Broken dash parts are falling inside the dash and my headlights have developed an intermittent while driving at night they simply turn off for a brief period of time i recycle the switch and a few seconds they come back on at highway speeds this is a serious safety issue additionally the broken dash cap is distracting this creating an issue and distracted driving in ohio is illegal. i have researched this issue and amazed to find out it covers multiple years and there are hundreds of complaints o n line related to this issue. additionally there are wires exposed to the occupants and i am not sure they are safe they can easily become work and shorted out thus creating a fire hazard/ please help by recalling this issue to dodge..

My 2001 dodge ram 2500 quad cab truck has developed substantial damage to the dashboard. there are several cracks reaching from the windshield to the front of the dash. there are also pieces of the dash that have broken loose from the dashboard itself. these range in size from 1-6 inch pieces. i have contacted daimler chrysler as to the problem and have been told "they are sorry, but there is nothing they can do." the truck has been out of the manufacturers warranty for 5 years now and the dashboard looks like it has been taken to with a hammer. *jb

As soon as vehicle ran out of bumper to bumper warranty the dash board started to crack and is falling out. it is a safety hazard if you get into a accident as pieces of dash will be going everywhere. *tr

I have a 2001 dodge ram 2500 with the cummins diesel. since the day i drove it off of the lot it has had steering problems. i have had it into the dealer seven times for the same problem and i still have a very dangerous vehicle. i also have numerous other problems with rattles and squeaks that have not been fixed. this truck is definitely a true lemon. the dealer has blamed the problem on tires, steering box, etc., but nothing has fixed the problem. the last statement from the dealer is that this steering problem is inherent to the dodge diesel engines and cannot be fixed. i almost had a head on collision about a month ago and have since parked my truck. i am now driving an older vehicle until i can get this resolved. i will not risk the lives of my family in this truck anymore. i paid $40,000 for a truck i cannot drive.*jb
