Safety recall n08/nhtsa 13v-038 issued 2/13. letter received that 'parts required to provide a permanent remedy for this condition are currently unavailable. chrysler will contact you again by mail, witha follow up recall notice when remedy parts are available.' continued to call dealer and continuously told parts have not been recieved yet. in may 2013, had dealer confirm rear axle pinion nut was tight (they still did not have parts to fix recall). have in writing that nut was tight and all was fine. aug. 16, 2013, the nut fails and driveshaft snaps free (gears sheared off). lost complete control of vehicle due to rear wheels locking. luckily had just exited rt 80 on to side road. dealer confirmed all due to pinion nut failure. dealer ordered all new parts to rebuild truck. when asked if this will render the recall 'fixed' he says no. we still have to get the recall pinion nut fixed on the new part. but there is no fix!! so they are basically placing my family in a death trap again. who is going to stop the blatant negligence at this point? isn't this site for the protection of the people? help us! this isn't a hot spilled cup of coffee. this is not a frivolous request. *tr

Rear diff started blowing fluid everywhere, wobbling and the seal went. dodge charged me $$ to fix that. pinion nut was not replaced because the haven't manufactured it. dealership informed me my pinion nut was tightened to spec... now july hits, my diff is whining really loud. starts approx: 15mph worse at speeds around 45mph. when you reach 65/70mph there is a really loud whistling sound with the whine. dodge still has no part made, spoke with dodge and i have to continue to replace parts and pay repair costs for a recall they have yet to address (except for the one letter they sent me for the recall). dodge will send a rep to evaluate the safety of my vehicle (this was the answer given to me the first time and the second), needless to say no rep was there. dodge doesn't want you to drive an "unsafe" vehicle, however they have yet to properly repair it.. my question is, how is the vehicle safe? *tr

Driving on 390n in rochester n.y. at approx. 5pm heavy traffic .loud bang and rear tires locked up,, both granddaughters began to scream" whats happening". i had no clue. looked to right to try to get out of traffic and saw what i thought was my driveshaft spit out from under r r tire.. we were lifted up in air at back of truck and i lost all propulsion, mind you my 5 and 6 year old are screaming as the other half of the drive shaft pounds on the pavement and bottom of truck .i still have no idea what is happening. somehow and that's what i told the sheriff i got the truck which was now freewheeling off to the side of the road approx. 75-100 ft from my driveshaft that hit the bridge guardrail and stopped from hitting anyone in traffic. i collected myself ,calmed the girls whos big concern was now,, someone is going to smash us and called 911 and my daughter. then i looked. my driveshaft was torn in two ,oil and parts were everywhere we should be dead but we are not honestly i have no clue how i got that truck over and stopped. me and the girls pray every night for god to protect our family and angels road in that truck that day.the tow truck driver had to skid the truck up onto the flatbed it was seized so badly,, and my daughter came and safely got the girls off the busy highway and home. the help truck said he had never seen anything like it..the dodge dealership has been helpful but chrysler has been unhelpful to its dealer and myself with an indifference that discussed me. i hope you do something before someone dies!!!! *tr

I am getting periodical noise from my rear axle. i am concerned with the recall for the rear axle pinion nut. i took my vehicle to the dealer today and was told no parts till sept @ 2013! this is a very dangerous issue and there are over 45 documented cases with injuries involved. this needs to be addressed immediately!!!!!!!!!!! *tr

The rear axle pinion nut on your truck vin:([xxx]) may have been built without an adhesive patch on the pinion nut threads. the lack of this adhesive patch could allow the rear axle pinion nut to loosen and/or the rear driveshaft to separate from the rear axle. a loose pinion nut could cause the rear axle to seize and a separated driveshaft could cause a loss of motive power. either situation could cause a crash without warning. safety recall n08/nhtsa 13v-038 i called earnhardt dodge, located at 1300 s. arizona ave, gilbert,az at 480-926-4000 and they said they can't repair the vehicle because dodge didn't sent them the parts and the repair manager said they don't know when they will get the parts. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
