Tl* the contact owns a 2014 (na) dodge ram 1500. immediately after starting the engine, the vehicle started rolling forward independently at approximately 9 mph. the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. the technician stated that the vehicle was working up to specifications. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 8,300.

Was drive a 2009 ram 1500 at approximately 30 mph on a back road when i noticed a hum as i took my foot off the gas. about a 1/2 mile down the road the vehicle came to a complete abrupt stop and wouldn't move. got out and noticed the drive shaft had fallen out of the rear end. i thought that was odd for a vehicle with only 84000 miles to be falling apart like that. upon looking up on the internet for the cause, i noticed there had been a recall for this very thing. recall #12v-474 and possibly #13v-038. took it too the shop and they refused to honor any recall, so i called chrysler who really couldn't give me a straight answer, but stated that we may be reimbursed for the repairs, but had to pay upfront for it. the quoted cost was $2200 to repair as i'm sure it tore up the rear in.

The rear differential in our vehicle went out even though we had taken the vehicle in and had the recall part put on at the time of the original recall. we took the truck to a dodge service center and they had the truck for approximately 15 days. we were charged for the repairs. the same day we picked the vehicle up, the truck started wobbling but at that time we thought it was the road we were on. we scheduled the truck for a recheck and in the meantime we had to make a trip to dallas, tx (appx. 500 miles) and we pulled our 26 foot travel trailer behind us. during this trip, the vibration in our truck became violent and my husband could hardly hold it on the road. we made it home safely and called the dodge service center and reported the problems, along with the tire pressure light being on and the check engine light being on. they set an appt. for 4 days later. we took the truck in and were told that when they repaired the rear differential the original recall part was on back order so they put the truck back together without it and gave it back to us. they never told us the part was on back order. from everything i have read, the drive shaft could have dropped out in dallas traffic with us pulling a 26 foot trailer and we could have very well been killed. the service center has now had our truck again for over a week. i have been trying to find out whether we are included in the buy back because of the rear differential going out twice but i'm being given the run around. at this point, we are paying for a truck still in the shop and even if it were repaired, we are deathly afraid to drive it. based on this service center's past history, we don't know whether the truck will be fixed when we get it back or not. we would like someone to give us a yes or no answer on the buy back of this vehicle and we are getting different stories from fca.

I was driving at approximately 25-30 mph the rear wheels locked up and i nearly lost control of the vehicle. i safely made it to the center turn lane. the truck would not drive, i could feel and hear a noise from underneath. i got out and looked underneath, the driveline had separated from the rear axle. i pulled the drive line from the transfer case put it in 4wd and tried to drive to a side street, but the rear axle was seized. after taking it to a mech to get fixed that night. i checked and apparently there is a recall for this issue. i do all my maintenance at the dealership where i bough the truck brand new and they never told me, nor did i see a letter in the mail. had this happened at freeway speeds it surely would have cause a crash.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge ram 1500. while driving at various speeds, the contact noticed that the gear independently shifted into the fourth gear from drive. the contact attempted to shift the gear back into drive and it failed to shift position. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. the contact was unsure about what needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 115,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge ram 1500. when shifting into reverse, the vehicle would abnormally jerk and skip. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a routine oil change. the contact later discovered that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v038000 (power train). the contact called the dealer and was informed that the recall repair had already been performed during the oil change service. the contact never received notification of the recall and was not aware that a defect ever existed in the vehicle. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted intermittently. the failure mileage was 200.

While going down interstate my abs, service 4wd, esp traction control and brake light all came on at same time. when it happened it happened it knocked my cruise off and slowing down. i got back on the gas and started to speed up then all of a sudden my gas became my brake it locked all 4 tires up at high speed. i was very lucky no one was real close to me. i made it to safe place to pull over and check it out and no matter what i did i couldn't get it back going correctly. at first it would do right and get up to 30mph and ease on gas little bit and it would start breaking when touching gas. has to have it towed. it was very dangerous and i was real lucky not to wreck. i home this problem can get resolved. *tr

When slowly accelerating from a stop i could hear a rattling/vibration sound coming from the passenger side of vehicle. this progressively got worse until i found the heat shield on the passenger side exhaust manifold was loose due to broken stud bolts. i did not repair immediately as i thought the break was superficial (outside the manifold). over the next month a slight exhaust leak could be heard, which has gotten very loud now. there is clearly at least one broken exhaust manifold bolt on passenger side. i am second owner (purchased at 19,000 miles), so lifetime warranty is no longer valid. i fear this leak could cause poisonous carbon monoxide gas to fill the cabin of my truck while driving with my wife and children. with the number of complaints regarding this exact same issue that i have heard, i cannot believe this has not reached recall status.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge ram 1500. while driving at approximately 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact stated that vehicle was placed into neutral and the vehicle was restarted. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure was unable to be duplicated. the failure occurred intermittently. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 103,000. the vin was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge ram 1500. while driving approximately 30 mph, a bouncing type noise was heard under the vehicle. when depressing the accelerator pedal, the noise would get louder, but the vehicle would not accelerate. the contact stopped the vehicle and discovered that the driveshaft was detached from the transmission and lying on the road. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the cause of the failure was not diagnosed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 69,000.

Started driving truck and all gauges went blank including speedometer. warning lights for air bag, check engine, low tire pressure, brakes, etc. all came on as well as wipers started working with switch in off position! *tr

Known issue with 2009 dodge ram with 5.7 litre hemi engine exhaust manifold bolts breaking. chrysler has placed tsb 11-002-11 for the repair but this issue is quite common however chrysler refuses to fix the issue unless the vehicle is under the standard warranty. bolts can crack/break and cause damage to the manifold itself. *tr

Since i bought the truck there has been several electrical issues i.e. bulbs keep blowing out, it will lose power when you start to go up a hill. the lighted mirrors only last about 45 days before going out at 500 ea. the truck seems to wonder and most of all the wheel bearings went out on both sides at the same time and the dealer charged me 1,800.00 saying that its not covered under the power train warranty.......... this truck is the definition of a lemon.......

There was a recall (n08) on 09 dodge rams because the pinion nut comes out and causes the drive shaft to fall off. i was not informed of this recall. the drive shaft fell off of my truck, snapped in half, and got lodged in my rear axel. this resulted in loss of control of my vehicle and nearly caused an accident. i contacted the chrysler group and was told that even though it was a recall, i had to pay out of my own pocket to have it towed to a dealership. i was also told on 7/29/2014 that they won't repair a recall, because my vehicle is no longer under warranty. the service technician at the dealership confirmed that the incident occurred because of the n08 recall, but chrysler denied to have it fixed. *js

My husband was taking our family to get school supplies when we heard a noise, i seen something come from under the truck ( he was only going 35mph) in the passenger mirror and i told him to pull over. upon doing so he was having a hard time with the brakes but he managed to pull the truck into a parking lot. upon examining his truck we seen that the drive shaft was split in half, his muffler was broken off and the drive shaft was stuck in-between my back brakes. he called chrysler after looking up repairs and found out that there was a recall on his truck for this very problem with the bolt coming out. he spoke with a woman named helen (would not give her last name nor ext number) and she told him to have his truck towed to the dealership which he did. today he is getting the go around and is being told that he had to pay for something that falls on the manufacturer. the general manger told him that the woman helen did not file it as a recall that it was a warranty issue. i don't understand why she did that and why they are acting like this. he did not receive anything in the mail about a recall on his truck. we later found out that what he paid for out of pocket for electrical was also a recall. no one has done an authorization to fix his truck nor have answers. my family could have been killed and others could have been killed of injured due these parts coming off his truck. i would like for my husband to get his truck fixed and be compensated for what he has paid for (towing, rental, and electrical work). if we have to go to news outlets to make sure this does not happen to any other family and to prevent someone from being killed and injured we will. i am very disappointed and dissatisfied with the way they are handling my husband. he already fought in the war and he don't need this stress. the recall number is n08. *js

I have been trying to get the pinion nut replaced, as per the recall notice for my 2009 dodge ram 1500, for the last 6 months. every time i call the dealer, they tell me that they do not have the part. i called today (7-11-2014) and was told again that they did not have the part. they tell me that the manufacturer is only sending them one part per 7 days. luckily, i have not had any problem yet, but would sure like to have this problem remedied. the dealer is auto nation spring. very disgruntled customer. *tr

On 3/17/2014 safety recall nhtsa 13v-038 was completed on the vehicle by a chrysler authorized service center. week of 6/29/14 (on 2 separate road trips) the rear axle seized while vehicle was under motion. on 7/1/2014 vehicle was returned to same service center without further incident. the incident info & safety concerns were relayed to service rep. that afternoon was called by service rep & told (paraphrasing) "it's not doing it now. come get it. bring it back if it happens again." i refuse to pick up vehicle. it remains at service center as they keep trying to get it to do "it". 7/3/2014 i contact chrysler 800-247-9753 (case #25262149) expressed alarm to "agent" that "recall" did not correct failure or its potential. agent contacted service provider. agent returned to me w/response echoing & supportive of service provider. "it's not doing it now. is there anything else i can do for you?" in frustration i said, "i am speechless... clearly you are at the end of your 'script'..." (i was wrong) the chrysler agent responded "i am not at the end of my script! i can still offer you monetary or tangible compensation!" i said, "for what? you said there is no problem." (end of conversation) how can such a thing be measured? even more than having my vehicle restored to my confidence and possession, i would especially like to know that the threat of bodily injury or loss of life to anyone (resulting from the dodge ram differential pinion nut (or not) failure) truly does not exist. direct experience says it does. i am confident in the integrity of my service center. i do understand that they cannot fix what does not appear to be broken & what the manufacturer denies or doesn't (?) know is a problem. i do not wish to bring any hardship upon the dealer. *tr

Transmission sticks in 4th gear have to pull over, turn off truck for 5 seconds and restart. motor uses number of quarts of oil a day with no sign of leak. *tr

I recieved a recall for my truck a while back. the date above may not be correct as i have not called the dealership for the exact date. when i took it in i was told i would be called when it was done. when i went back to the dealer i was told my truck was not part of the recall and they gave me my truck back. the employee actually said it wouldn't had mattered because the repair wasn't available to them yet anyway. now knowing my truck is on the recall, this is extremely upsetting considering my family has been riding in this thing for thousands of miles! now what do i do? i don't want to drive it but i don't have another car. i guess i just have to wait some 60 days untill chrysler can figure things out...

Our granddaughter's husband was driving the truck. while driving down the road, the truck started shaking. he pulled over and checked for a flat tire and looked under the truck. the tires were fine and he didn't see anything leaking. he started driving again and the truck started shaking again he pulled into a gas station and checked under the truck again for leaks, but nothing was leaking. the engine was running fine so he started driving again. the truck was still shaking and then started humming and making grinding noises. then the engine stopped running but kept moving as if it were in neutral ( but still in drive). he pulled off the road. he called the closest chrysler dealer and had it towed there. the technician said the pinion seal had leaked and there was no fluid in rear differential. the truck had a full service check in october and there were no signs of leakage. there were no signs of leakage on the garage floor either. after research, i've read of many others who have had this same problem. after doing everything we should have to care for the truck, we still ended up paying $5940.75. *tr
