On 1/19/17 i made a 7 mile round trip drive, returned to our house and parked on the street. about 10 minutes later after making my lunch i opened facebook to see a notification that a truck was on fire on my street. i walked out my front door to see what was going on only to find the leander fire department putting out the fire involving my dodge ram. the assistant fire chief believes it started by the master cylinder. *tr
Truck has had multiple incidents of stalling and shutting off with no advance warning or notice. i come to a stop or turn and the engine shuts off. power steering is lost and even though it starts right back up when put on neutral it has started to worry me to the point where i no longer feel safe driving this vehicle for fear this may happen on the highway. i've had throttle work done and wires replaced but it continues to do the same thing and no codes appear as to what may be causing this problem. the dealer also cannot tell me the reason why this is happening.
The truck began stalling while shifting from reverse to drive. it is now happening when shifting from drive to park. there are no codes in the computer and the check engine light does not come on. when this happens, i loose power steering. the truck always re-starts right away.
Driving in heavy traffic the engine stopped. i coasted to the roadside and restarted after sitting about 15 minutes. this has happened about 5 times since then. i took it to an auto mechanic who could find nothing after 1 hour of road testing and truck engine computer readouts. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 dodge ram 1500. while traveling 40 mph on rough terrain the contact traveled over a bump and noticed that the vehicle had suddenly shut off. the vehicle was taken to the dealership where the computer was updated; however, the failure continued to occur. there were no prior warnings. the failure mileage was 26000 and the current mileage was 27000.
When driving the truck gives no warning everything just shuts off and i loose all power. i can't steer the car or break very easy. this has happened to me now twice. it is very scary and my dealer who sold me the truck brand new said he has heard of this with the model i bought. *tr
I bought a 2008 dodge 1500 st quad cab pickup truck new in november of 2008. in february of 2010 cranked my truck one morning an the truck made a loud tapping noise on the passenger, then stopped. i contacted the dodge dealership and explained what happened. because it was out of warranty i had to make arrangement for a loaner. i brought the truck in on 07/19/2008 at 10:00 a.m. and they called me and said they completed the work which included removing the cam shaft and installing a new one and the rack lifters on the passenger side. the truck has 57,000 miles and oil is changed every 4,200 miles. there was no explanation to why this happen but i am very disappointed and truly dissatisfied with the run around i received. my driver door is another problem which occur two weeks after i received the truck. they adjusted the doors 4 times and now they are saying because of the mileage that is out of warranty i would have to file a compliant like i did with the lifters to dodge corp for approval. i will never by another dodge after this. *tr
