After filling up with fuel on serval different occasions the truck will shut off with no warning lights or service lights. this causes the power steering and everything to stop. when at a stop sign it can be started safely from park or neutral but when moving it has to be put in neutral to re start because the brake system does not work good either. it has happened at stop sign and stop light as well as driving down the road at 55 mph

Shift lever broke off while driving out of my driveway. after backing out of parking spot went to put in drive, shifter got sloppy and nothing would engage.
The engine stalls and cuts off without any warning. i've had it at 4 different auto repair shops including 3 weeks at landmark dodge and no one can determine what is going on with it. i've had the fuel pump replaced and cylinders replaced. it's crazy andd very frustrating that dodge can't fix their own product.
Tie rod assembly
While driving on the parkway i suddenly lost control of the steering. thankfully i was able to safely maneuver the truck to the side of the road, with the help of a good samaritan and my evasive maneuver course required by my job, before anything tragic happened. i had the truck towed to the dealer where they confirmed my suspicion of a broken tie rod, specifically the left tie rod which has been recalled on every 2008 ram except my 1500. i find this very suspect that all the other rams have been recalled and fixed except my model, yet i had to pay for the repair. i am grateful that i did not get hurt, or cause an accident and injure anyone else, however this issue needs to be looked in further by the government. all of these trucks are unsafe to drive until they are fixed. according to my normal mechanic, this can happen at anytime due to the defective tie rod. he has replaced many 1500 tie rods at the expense of the owners, this should not be. please order ram to issue a recall on all the 2008 ram trucks to keep the public safe. thank you
65 mph the steering wheel wobbles uncontrollably. my job is located 60 miles from home, one way, all highway miles. incredibly dangerous. i have my 4 year old daughter riding with me. if i slow down i can usually regain control of the truck, one day we may end up in ditch. i bought this truck hoping for a reliable and safe vehicle for my daughter and i, which i don't feel i have accomplished! i am terrified for other drivers on the road, steering may go out, and i can't miss work due to dodge mistakes! we have owned this truck for less than 2months. something has to change before something bad happens!
If i get a little bump on the highway i lose control of my steering for a few seconds and it goes back to normal, its been like that for years. but lately in the past 3 months there has been a strange noise coming from my steering box and wheels mainly on the driver side like if i'm dragging something and as if my steering is falling apart. this has been a major concern that i recently stopped driving it. *tr
While pulling my rv trailer, i noticed a growling noise and vibration coming from the front of my truck. the closer i got to home the noise got louder. took to my mechanic and he had to replace left front wheel bearing hub, steering knuckle and alignment. it fixed the problems. only 45594 miles. cost $800.00. is this a recall for this vehicle? can i be reimbursed for my cost of repairs from chrysler?
Vibration and bouncing- wobble feeling with loose steering at speeds 55-70, from front wheels through steering wheel. tires have been re-balanced several times as the possible cause but truck continues to have vibrations in front wheels at speeds 55 or higher. continual brake noise, rattling sounds at all speeds after brakes have been applied 2-3 times under normal traffic conditions.
I just reached 70k miles. now i have a major front end shake at highway speeds. (dodge death wobble)
My left tie rod needs replaced, the right is fine. the have a bunch of recalls on left tire rod on all different models and years covering around mine truck. my truck is not under the recall, i think it is a crock pot filled with something. how is it magical the same problem they are having recalls on but mine isnt recalled.
The vehicle began to shake violently and steering became difficult. i was forced to pull over after 2-3 miles.
Experiencing early failure of drivers side and passenger side tie rods. (drivers side is worse) was informed at approx. 48,000 miles they needed to be replaced very soon. after some research online found this is a known issue with this make and model and no recall has been issued. i believe these should have been included in the buy out recently announced.
i've been a dodge truck on her for years when i want another vehicle but i have concerns reference my 2008 dodge with the steering problem i drive the interstate every day i don't feel safe so what door need to do the truck is parked right now
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 dodge ram 1500. the contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle and steering wheel vibrated continuously without warning. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who was diagnosed that the passenger side tie rod needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
Driving on the highway whenever i hit a bump i lose all steering from a violent vibration. i have to show down to 30 mph to regain control.
While driving on the highway my steering wheel became way off center. i just figured i hit a pot hole and needed an alignment. when i got home i removed the front tires and noticed that the passenger side wheel bearing had separated and almost totally came apart. i called my local dealership and they stated that there was no recall for this on my vehicle. i purchased both front hub bearing assemblies and replaced them my self.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 dodge ram 1500. while driving approximately 60 mph, the steering wheel failed to turn. the contact had to drive the vehicle slower because the steering wheel failed to respond on multiple occasions. the contact also noticed when the brakes were depressed, the rear suspension seemed loose. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for alignment. the technician diagnosed that the suspension was loose, the steering needed to be aligned and the rear shocks were leaking. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 49,000.
I just purchased this vehicle and within a week the key wouldn't go into the ignition and once in wouldn't come back out. the vehicle shuts off randomly locking the power steering and brakes. my right turn signal now doesn't go off and when i try to put it off my self the left turn signal activates! this went on back and forth a good eight times before both shut off. my front headlights (mostly right but cannot really see the left while driving) the lights shakes and bounces when i go over anything uneven. upon coming to a sudden stop the truck pulled hard to the right causing me to swerve into the grass. this vehicle just doesn't drive right. the whole front end seems loose. i cannot drive over 50 or the rear end comes off the ground when i brake to make my turn. i'm taking it to the dealer this evening. my dealer 30 day warranty expires tomorrow. the 3 year 36000 manufacturer warranty is up since three years are gone - although the vehicle only has 31864 miles now. i cannot afford to make repairs while still financed. i'm a single mother of four and always have my four year old in the truck. it's to the point i no longer trust driving this truck. *tr
2008 dodge ram 1500 4x2 - quad cab. while driving at approximately 70 mph front end began to shake and vibrate. had front end alignment checked and tires were balanced and aligned correctly. technician at private shop indicated that there was no unusual wear and tear noted in the ball joints either. still driving vehicle with the same conditions occurring. have not notified dealer/manufacturer yet.
My wife and 2 kids (4yr and 6yr) were driving over railroad tracks at about 25 miles per hour when suddenly the car turned off. power steering and brakes were suddenly no longer available and my wife steered in the middle of an intersection before she came to a halt. luckily nothing happened. she switched the transmission into p, the car started flawlessly and she parked it to call her mom to pick her up. i then got to the car and wondering what might have happened. reading about ignition locks causing this symptom, i lightly tugged on the ignition key while idling. the car turned off easily. knowing my wife puts whichever car key she needs on her key chain, i suspected that this may have been the problem. i tried it out and -sure enough- repeated the event. she normally drives her 2013 jeep wrangler which has the identical type of ignition switch. this one however does not turn off the car when one pulls on the key while the car is idling in gear. i was surprised when i did not find a lot on issues with dodge ignition switches and would never describe this occurrence on a 7 year old car, if it hadn't been so terrifying. never did i feel so unprotected! losing power and becoming a widower is really just one small tug away.... thought i shared.... ps: of course i will get a new ignition switch. *tr

I had gotten new tires on my truck and an alignment done on the truck and was told my power assist rack and pinion was failing and would have to be replaced. after doing research online about the issue i have found that there areally very many people with the same problem with the mopar part failing while driving or being told they need to replace it. with so ma you complaints about it on the 2008 models alone, they need to look into the issue as it can cause a serious accident or the death of a person. several have complained that this part has failed at mileages down to 45,000 miles. it sounds like this may be a faulty part.
Had new tires and ball joint replaced and truck lined up 3 times and still shakes in front end. turn steering wheel all way left and front end skips on pavement.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 dodge ram 1500. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 13v528000 (steering), but the dealer stated that the repair was unnecessary. several months later, while driving 25 mph, the power steering failed and the vehicle vibrated violently. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 120,600.
While driving at highway speeds the front end wants to pull to the left and right when going over a bump in the road. the steering wheel does not pull it feels like the wheels turning. i have had the alinement checked and had new tires put on. still have the same trouble
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 dodge ram 1500. while driving over 45 mph, the front end of the vehicle and the steering wheel started to shake and vibrate violently. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. the manufacturer was not notified. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 70,000.
Turning right out of a parking spot there was a loud snap and then a lot of grinding. upon inspection the wheel bearing hub assembly had broken and damaged the steering knuckle. there are tsbs that indicate there may be a problem in the front left suspension. *tr
Dodge ram 2008 quad cab 1500 series. at the time i called into dodge i had roughly 60 thousand miles on my truck. i contacted dodge in 2014 and they told me although that was the model and series that was part of a recall that my particular vin was not eligible for a recall . the problems i had endured were swaying of the truck almost to the extent where the tire felt like it was wobbling and the truck shaking when i excellerated over 50 mphs . it was at that time when i took a road trip for memorial day weekend 2014 when this started getting progressively worse and i pretty much had to drive 40 miles an hour the i75 freeway because the car felt like it was going to flip over when i was excellerating. it was right there after that i contacted dodge to make a complaint and they told me although i had the year and make of the ram but my particular vin was not eligible for any recall. so there after i had to replace my tie rods and the sway bar at my own expense and also replace my tires not too long after that which were new from the dealer when i bought it used in 2011. my biggest fear was the vehicle that was the safest of the 2 my family owns was now a risk to my children,my spouse and i. i also had fellow vacationers in the vehicle with me which witnessed the vehicle shaking obsessively when we were accelerating.

My complaint regards the unreasonable length of time it is taking chrysler to resolve recall n49. this is a tie rod issue. pretty important, considering the ball stud could fracture and cause the loss of steering while customers are on the road. as instructed by the notice, i called our local dealer january 6, 2014 to schedule an appointment. i was told to call back the following week. i did so promptly and was told i would be put on a list for repair. i was #130 and parts were expected to be shipped by chrysler just once every two weeks. i called again april 30. i am now #120. i'm told that, even if the parts were coming in at a faster pace, the dealership is not adequately staffed. it appears to me that this safety issue - one that can, and probably will, result in loss of lives -- is not an urgent matter to chrysler. if it were, it would be sending the replacement parts to the dealers in a timely manner and footing the bill to temporarily staff the dealership to get this resolved. *js
Went to check my tire pressures and took valve stem cover off and it snapped the top of the valve stem off even with the top of the valve stem....2 other valve stem covers are also seized on the valve stems on the truck.. called dealer and they informed me that dodge knows about this problem and they have replaced hundreds of them and the only way to replace them is to put another sensor in for 75 bucks cause they can not put regular valve stems in vehicles that have tpms sensors in them...they have not heard of any recalls to date nor could i find any online...this is a obvious problem with many dodge vehicles with this metal valve stem and needs to be corrected. *tr

During the 5yr inspection was told the lt wheel hub assembly needed replaced due to bearings worn with appx 50000 miles electrical/engine; when driving going over rough surface, bump or rxr tracks the jarring can cause the truck to loose power shutting down all pwr steering and brakes this has happened on multi occasions. when trying to duplicate unable to cause shutdown. *tr
Noticed vehicle constantly pulling to the left and took it in to find out the alignment was out ever since this date about every three months i have had to realign the vehicle because it pulls to the left. *tr
While driving at 75 mph, the issue became apparent as entry into a curve began. the steering of the vehicle (2008 dodge ram quad cab 1500) became less responsive with a great amount of vibration. as the curve in the road straightened out a loud pop came from driver side front and rear axle areas. witch also created a large uncontrollable body roll and sway. howling noise is greatly apparent at higher speeds. with this issue the vehicle feels un-solid and constant body roll feels as if you were traveling on a boat. many items recalled on other dodge vehicles during same year, but not on the vehicle in question, have the ability to case the same issues. this could create a tragic and catastrophic loss of life in the vehicle of failed parts or the family next to them on the road. "drive safe, because today could be the day you save your family's life". *tr
My vehicle was taken in for an oil change, at this time we found that it was driving funny. the inspection that was performed during routine service found a leak of failed seal in the steering unit. also noted around quarter panels rust bubbles are appearing under the paint. *js
