Vehicle has a delayed engagement after sitting for an extended period of time. particularly happens in colder weather. delayed engagement will also make transmission start off in higher gear. will take roughly 30 seconds to engage into gear. issue is sporadic therefore local dodge garage has failed to diagnose problem. dodge has had many tsa notices concerning this same delayed engagement but still neglects to take responsibility for their flaw. after speaking to multiple transmission shops i have been made aware that the 2006 ram transmission pump is faulty and even the manager at the local dodge garage verified that dodge has replaced the pump with a different model because of the delayed engagement but yet they still are not replacing the faulty pumps that are currently in the vehicle they sold. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 1500. when shifting out of the park position, the vehicle automatically shifted into neutral gear. he had to use the 4 wheel drive in order for the gear to release from neutral. the dealer stated that his vin was not included in recall 05v4610000 power train: transfer case, 4-wheel drive; therefore, he will be billed a diagnostic and repair fee. the vehicle will be repaired by the dealer. the failure and the current mileages were 107,527.

This is the tenth time my truck has stalled out since i have owned it. there is no warning, errors or codes. it has taken place while driving, turning at low speeds and while stopped. most recently was today in which i was almost rear ended and a victim of road rage by the other driver. the truck does start again, but it takes a few minutes. the truck will then run fine for a while and then it occurs again. weather and road conditions do not have a factor in this. ii have noticed that this is a common problem with many dodge owners. this is a severe safety issue. i have been to the dealer and they have found no issues. all of the maintenance is up to date and beyond. i have all documents to prove the above mentioned. dodge has replied by stating that the vehicle is out of warranty. there has to be an answer to this. this is a life safety issue. please look into this. *tr

The rear differential/pinion seal assembly has gone out 7+ times since march of 2009. it has chattered, hummed, it has leaked and whined. *tr

The problem started in 2009. went to drive the truck and could not get the truck to drive over 20 mph. was able to get it to a dealer close by and had to have the throttle body positioning sensor replaced. since that date i have had to have this same sensor changed 8 more times. each time the private mechanic talks to chrysler and they recognize there is a faulty problem with this part and will not recall the item. when this sensor goes out it will not let you drive more than about 20mph. also had to replace the accelerated pedal positioning sensor 4 times. blinker problems noted by many other consumers i have also had. where you turn on the left blinker and the right blinker comes on. as well as the a/c problem many consumers have mentioned the door breaks and then all you have is outside air coming in. my mechanic has tried to get replacement parts from chrysler to repair the problem and chrysler does not sell this part (please explain to me how they can make the vehicle and not sell the part to repair it when it breaks knowing it breaks often). tie rods have also been a problem with my truck. no matter how tight they are they continue to come loose even after being replaced and then the truck will shake. my main concern at this point is it intermittently will die while driving down the highway. it will start right back up but will die again and then it wont duplicate the problem for 2 or 3 days and then will do it again. have not been able to diagnose this problem yet. if anyone knows any suggestions to look at please advise. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 1500. the contact stated that the pinion nut became loose, cusing a leak from the rear pinion area. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 13v038000 (power train) but did not confirm if the vehicle was included in the recall. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed that the axle pinion nuts were loose. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

2006 dodge ram 1500 quad cab, i purchased and have had numerous problems from the start. the transmission engages in such a way as to cause my body to move forward then back, i took it back to the dealership on three occasions, they changed the fluid and put in two new filters, still same problem, i was told by the mechanic of 22 years that's the new transmission feature to keep it from wearing out, it only engages when you stomp on the gas??? 30000 miles started leaking black fluid at front wheel, took to dealership, said suspension was gone, part has been on back order since august 2008 it is now feb. 2009 and no expected arrival date of the part. my tires have worn out completely due to this issue, after continually calling the dealership and complaining they are installing an oem suspension part and will give me one free tire.. waahoo, what about the other 3? *tr

No injuries or accident, but almost happened. driving and stopped at a stop sign and proceeded across highway in safe manner. when i reached in the middle of the intersection my truck would not go. the engine was still running and tried to proceed and the truck would not go. as oncoming traffic was approaching i got out of my truck and almost watched my truck get hit by another motorist talking on the cell phone. stopped within 4 feet or lower of hitting my truck. after this i got back in to move my truck to a safe location, i tried again to see if it will go after that and it would only go about 5 miles an hour. so i creeped it to the dealership and they put the truck on the computer and 10 different codes came up.. they couldn't do anything that day and said monday bring it back. soon as i got there the service engine light went off and the service advisor said that there were no codes came up. my vehicle has been in the shop over 8 times for the same thing and they could not fix it. i felt my vehicle was very unsafe for me so i traded that vehicle in for another kind of vehicle. the reason i am telling you this i don't want anything to happen to somebody else and cause a serious accident with that type of vehicle i owned and everyone that i'd talk to that had that vehicle said they were having the same problems. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 1500. if the vehicle is parked overnight or all day, once it is started and placed into gear, it does not move for 10-15 seconds when the accelerator pedal is depressed. the failure occurred on november 20, 2007 and is gradually becoming worse. the dealer stated that the failure was typical of a 2006 dodge ram and that several of them were experiencing the failure. the contact stated that this was unacceptable. the current mileage was 28,925 and failure mileage was 22,000. updated 07/29/08. *lj updated 08/05/08. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 1500. the contact stated that the transmission will not shift into gear. the transmission hesitates and sounds as if it is slipping. while driving 55-60 mph, the rpm's increase, but the gears do not change. the vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately three times, but they were unable to repair the failure. the failure has worsened since the weather has gotten colder. the current and failure mileages were 37,200.

2006 truck has been into the dealership numerous times for recalls and then had a transmission failure at 26,000 miles, they took the truck and then had to send it 100 miles away to be returned with one of the same problems still happening. they had it for 5 weeks and could not fix the problem. also have warped rotors on front and had to replace tires on front. i think all they did was change fluid in tranny. *jb

Since new the 2006 dodge 1500 quad cab has excessive shaking at idle position. dealer said shaking is due to the vehicle type. when cold the truck doesn't engage in reverse fully which causes slippage... it doesn't want to move without hard accelerator depression. *jb

Bought 2006 dodge ram 1500 slt june 2006 100 miles on it on way home brakes pulled sharpley. glendale,ca dodge replaced brake rotors, pads, & calipers@500 miles, due to leaking...front end has been messed up since...vibrates at various speeds, so badly at times feels like front end is going to shake off...front right tire feels like it's warped at times, pulsing in brake pedal when braking, not always, have taken it in to dealer various times they claim nothing wrong...dealer replaced drive shaft last visit, 07/2007, with 20,000 miles...no change....additionally, transmission feels like it's slipping at times and at 60 mph, on level road, transmission feels like it's in to high of a gear, if i was driving a manuel i'd shift down at least 1 gear, at times the vehicle shakes with acceleration, the dealer states, you guessed it, there's no problem..i do not even like driving the truck on the fwy...finally, truck jumps whenever you hit a bump, suspension feels loose, like the shocks are blown, any uneven surface makes the truck unstable.. to say i am frustrated is an understatement!!! the incident dates are various i have been dealing with this for a year!!*jb

Transmission failure due to transmission overheating. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 1500. while loading the trailer attached to the vehicle, the vehicle began moving forward without warning. as a result, the trailer crashed into the rear driver side wheel well. the contact stated that this occurred while the vehicle was geared in park. the road conditions were clear. the dealer has not inspected the vehicle to determine the cause of the failure. the vin was unknown. the current mileage is 8,000 and failure mileage was 7,600.

Tl*- the contact stated that while driving his 2001 dodge ram 1500 (56000 failure mileage) at 3 mph over a hole on a dirt road, the contact heard a rubbing sound as if the tire was rubbing against the fender. he stopped the vehicle to take a look and found the drive shaft rubbing against the side of the gas tank. the contact proceeded to drive over the hole then the rubbing noise stopped. the contact thinks there is a design flaw in his vehicle because it is a 4 wheel drive and should be able to drive over holes without rubbing against the gas tank.

1.. all 02-2005 (maybe 2006) 9.25" lsds are affected. 2.. the retaining clips fail. 3.. after enough wear on the housing the clips can come loose, which at a high rate of speed could get lodged in the ring and pinion and cause the rear end to lock up. and at 75 mph having the rear tires lock up surely spell out injury or death. 4.. that even when the problem is found and repaired under warranty the parts are replaced with the same junk as before. *jb

Multiple problems since day 1. unresolved vibration issues-related to tires and driveline and alignment. outer tierod failure. frt right brake assy failure - near accident , vehicle veered uncontrollably off road at 40mph-towed to dealer. intermittent stalling and hesitating and low oil pressure during operation- truck stalled several occasions while driving - unresolved at this time. multiple fluid leaks from failed vehicle seals and gasket-issue resolved. vehicle has been to authorized dodge dealers for 9 visits for a total of 45 days down time. in my opinion, this is an unsafe and unreliable vehicle. not eligible for massachusettes strict lemon laws due to being a multitude of different problems. *tr

Dt*: the contact stated the drive shaft fell off while towing a 6x10 utility trailer which resulted in the trailer colliding with and damaging the vehicle. the service dealer stated the trailer must have exceeded the towing capacity for the vehicle. the contact disputes this claim. a police report was filed.*ak updated 03/02/07. *jb

Dt*: the contact stated when hitched up to a trailer, there was a vibration from the drive shaft during acceleration. the vehicle was serviced by an authorized service dealer, who replaced the drive shaft hanger. this helped reduce the vibration, but became worse with continued driving. the vehicle was returned a second time, where a more heavy duty replacement hanger was installed. the vibration continued during acceleration at all speeds, although it was not noticed when the accelerator pedal was not depressed. the manufacturer was not notified.

Vibration at 60mph. had 2 tires replaced did not help. dealer put 4 new tires and rims on same problem. problem is worse when towing trailer. 5 trips to dealer and they say it is normal to have vibration. vibration is in seat and floorboard all tires ballanced properly they claim this is normal. have found that this only seems to be a problem with 06 dodge ram 1500 4x4s.

Dt*: the contact stated while backing up from a parking spot, no power was noticed until the engine reached 4000 rpm. the same problem was observed while driving forward for the next two miles. the vehicle was taken to the dealership who determined the ecu was missing the software; cs and tcbs which were updated, but dtc was not performed. the problem was fixed after the repairs.

Transmission makes load snapping noise when shifting into any gear from park. front brakes caliper sticking causing brakes and rotors to over heat creating sequel and massive amount of dust and vehicle is sluggish from the brakes sticking so acceleration is basically non existent. load humming from front wheels which leads to a shimmy and eventually a shake.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 1500 regcab swb. while driving 40 mph on a clear day the contact smelled brake fumes and heard a loud noise from inside the engine compartment. the contact looked through the rear view mirror and noticed loose metal underneath the vehicle. the contact attempted to use the shifter and the clutch, but neither worked. the vehicle eventually shut off and coasted to a strip mall. the contact exited the vehicle and entered a building when a loud noise was heard. the vehicle had ignited into flames ,causing the hood to burst open. the vehicle was completely destroyed. the vehicle was towed to earnharts dodge. the contact called the company responsible for the vehicle's warranty, and was informed that it would be one to two business days before they could respond. the warranty company failed to respond, but the insurance company arrived and had the vehicle towed to their salvage yard. a week later, an investigator from dodge stated that the contact will not be given the investigation report because a claim was filed with the insurance company. the fire investigator for state farm insurance indicated the fire was caused by the metal case of the transmission. in addition to the clutch assembly components being distorted and bent. prior to the fire the contact owned the vehicle for approximately five months. the failure mileage was 5,800.*ak

Dt*: the contact stated without warning, at various speeds, the vehicles stalls. the vehicle restarts, and the dealership determined the control module needs to be replaced. *ak

Dt*: the contact stated there is a noise coming from the transmission. the dealership determined the noise was normal and the vehicle needed to be broken in. the noise continues to come from the transmission and now the rear end vibrates. additionally, on five occasions while driving 60mph the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle restarted each time after five minutes. the dealer has been unable to duplicate the problem.

I have a 2006 dodge ram 1500. it was bought in november 2005. the transmission started leaking so i took into the dealership that i bought it from. it is a silicone seal on the transmission was it was leaking. the dealership replaced the seal. the next day it was leaking way worse than before. i called the dealership and let them know of the problem and they told me that they could replace it again but most likely it would still leak because it was a silicone seal and they couldn't put any other seal on it because it was against dodges regulations. that is what the put on the truck from the factory so the can't put anything else on it. so the transmission will continue to leak. i don't agree with this especially the amount of money that i paid for the vehicle and also my safety as well as others. also it is still under warranty. so now if this problem isn't fixed my transmission will have to be replaced. *jb

Vibration on acceleration worse with trailer attached. truck has been to dealer 12-13 times for problem. they have replaced harmonic balancer, complete driveshaft,8 different center carriers shim and bracket, and i don't know what else. the service manager made the mistake of telling me it is what it is. that's a whole other story. a chrysler case rep called me personally and told me to send in the lemon card. after doing so three weeks passed at this time i called chrysler and they stated that the case worker no longer worked there. i am now in the process of taking them to court. i will never buy another dodge in my lifetime!!! 2006 mega cab *tr

Drivetrain vibration between 30-40 mph while decelerating course dealer could not find issue and deemed it "normal". *nm
