Bought a 2005 dodge ram 1500 4x4 laramie quad cab used with 38000 mi. with new brakes & tires. at 42000mi a heavy vibration occurred, which turned out to be warped rotors. since it was just out of warranty, i replaced all rotors & brakes (i am maintenance in the army). then, at 51500mi the rotors warped again. i have read of many, many other owners with the same problem. i live a block from my job and don't drive very much. i also don't tow either, nor do i "slam" the brakes. i drive very slow & cautious, so there is no reason this should happen. this needs to be recalled & dodge needs to make good on their "tough truck". *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 1500. while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician replaced the front and rear brake kit, rotors, brake lines, hoses, fluids and the master cylinder cover. the contact stated that the failure recurred approximately three years later while driving approximately 55 mph. shortly thereafter, the vehicle had become responsive to acceleration and was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics. the approximate failure mileage was 14,000.

Truck was bought new with 42 miles and at 9k the brake rotors were replaced because of excessive wear. again at 14k miles the brakes needed to be replaced, but this time the dealer refused to pay. the rotors only had 5k miles and 3 months. i spoke with chrylser, the general manager of the dealership, and the service manager and they are telling me this is normal wear and tear. i told them this was unacceptable that rotors were wearing out so quickly. i have made 3 attempts to fix the problem and it is still not fixed. i am comtemplating the next step in the repair process. hopefully, the nhtsa can be of some assistance. *jb
