We have classified the 53 complaints from 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Vehicle is stalling and losing complete loss of power, very hard to steer vehicle. occurs usually at low speeds, while turning or just driving straight. i have to place my vehicle in park & restart my engine. this has happened twice while i was turning in traffic & nearly collided with other vehicles with 3 small children in the car. i have requested for this to be diagnosed and researched several times by mechanics, but the defect has never been duplicated, resulted in a diagnosis, or resolved by a mechanic. it randomly occurs and just occurred again today in traffic, while turning left on an inside lane. i had cars behind and next to me. i had to come to a slow stop, but was unable to turn the wheel enough to remain in my lane, almost causing an accident. i feel this can result in a potentially fatal accident and want to report this immediately. i don't know what to do aside from seeking legal counsel at this point. *tr
Four times in two years driving the dodge ram vehicle suddenly died, loosing power steering and breaking. the first time it caused me to run through a stop sign when the vehicle was less than three months old. the second time, i was going slow and straight. the third time i was on a curve and barely maintained control while stopping. the final time in 2007 was on a curve and my vehicle stalled and ran off the road crashing/bumping into a curb. each time was at speeds less than 30 mph. i was concerned it would occur at higher speeds. i had taken it to the dealer twice and they could not identify a problem. they claimed to have downloaded the black box and reported it did not indicate a stall. after fearing for my daughter that was with me, i immediately traded the vehicle in for a ford. the dealer's service technicians treated it as though i was imagining the problem. the dealer i traded the vehicle into is both a dodge and ford dealer with the same repair staff servicing both lines of vehicles. i reported the problem to the dealer's sales staff when i traded the vehicle in. did the dealer warn the buyer of the vehicle when they resold it? this dealer is still in business in branson, missouri. *tr
My vehicle is a swb quad cab 4x4 1500 6 ft bed. i was traveling at 30 -35- mph going through a slight right curve when the engine shut off and i lost all power in the vehicle (in traffic) i put the vehicle in neutral and restarted the truck at about 20 - 25 mph and continued on. the trucked had been running for about 20 min before it happened. the second time i was leaving work and pulled up to the automatic gate and stopped to wait for it to open and the truck just died. it had only been running for about 2-3 min. *jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 1500. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v313000 (air bags) and 14v796000 (power train); however, the parts needed to perform the repair were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not notified of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure related to the recalls. in addition, the steering wheel vibrated when making a left turn. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. while driving at low speeds, the vehicle stalled. once restarted, the vehicle would resume normal operation. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 12,000.....updated 10-27-15 *bf .
When headlights are on--usually at night--dash lights will dim and intensify intermittently while driving. dome light has come on occasionally. i appreciated the service department's efforts to educate me on my vehicle the last time i brought it in for this problem, but i am fully aware of how the dome light switch works. 2. turn signal does not function safely. intermittently, while driving, right turn signal does not work when engaged. after trying a multitude of times to engage, signal comes on, but does not stay on constantly. signal will blink, stop and start randomly. sometimes, the opposite signal will blink. 3. when headlights and fog lights were on, fog lights and/or headlights have cut out. this was not a result of switching to high beam. *nm
Stalling issue with 2005 dodge ram 1500 ext cab. approx 2500 miles. truck stalls intermitently while in reverse or shifting from reverse to forward. the issue has occured several times since purchasing the vehicle. the dealer has investigated two or three times. initial investigation determined possible cause as contact issues with ignitiion swith module and it was replaced. since then the truck has stalled two additional times and is again at the dealership for investigation into root cause. the dealer is having a difficult time determining the issue since the stalling is intermittent and cannot be easily repeated. overall the dealer has been responsive to the issue but has not yet implemented a permanent fix. *nm
My 2004 dodge ram was in the driveway and had not been used for at least 24 hours. an electrical fire started under the hood on the drivers side and totaled the truck. the fire also damaged the driveway and surounding area.
(1) anything, anywhere, anytime, any speed. (2) engine stall. brakes and stearing in-operable, total control failure of vehicle. (3) flash update of the trucks computer chip, many trips into the dealer, latest advice from the dealer is they will not do anything about this issue except to note my complaint in the service file...
