After seeing a news story on wkmg6 news i realized my dodge ram truck has the same issue. vehicles in the story have dashboards cracking and collapsing. mine is doing exactly the same thing. to date i haven't had electrical problems like some of the others but my concern is growing after the news reported some peoples lights turned off at night. my 2001 ram 1500 pickup seems to have problems consistent with many other ram owners. *tr
The dashboard of my 2001 dodge pickup is cracking and falling apart. *tr
My 2001 dodge ram dash is cracking. i seen a special on my local news station and the parties present on the news cast had the same problems as i did but worse. i think this should be looked at before someone gets killed by the air bag deploying or lights going out. *tr
I have a 2001 dodge 1500 pickup truck which has numerous cracks in the dashboard. i am worried aboit my dashboard falling in and damaging my wiring.*ak
I bought a dodge ram 1500 quad cab brand new in 2001. in 2007 i noticed a crack in the dash that has went from one side to the other and top to bottom. i feel that if the vehicle were to be involved i n a crash pieces of the dash could injure someone's eyes or other parts. i have had contact with chrysler through a friend and they will not even address the issue ( i am not alone with this problem) with me, all they said was that they do not know who made the product for them, which is a total lie, they have computers they know. i feel that the general public could be hurt by this problem and it should be addressed. *tr
My dash cracked and it appears that is still cracking more every day. it happened without any reason. i believe the cracking has caused the dash vent not to blow properly and also dust is getting into the dash. more cracking will cause parts to fall into the dash. *tr
I have a 2001 dodge ram pickup, the dash board is cracking all over. there are complete pieces which fell through one in the largest size the of 8"x6, there are many more holes also in the dash. i know of numerous other 2001 dodge ram pickup owners who have the same defect in there vehicle. if the vehicle was involved in an accident a piece of the dash could easily fly up and into the face or eye of the driver or front seat passenger, causing serious injuries or life changing (blind) event.. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2001 dodge ram 1500. the contact stated that the dashboard was cracked underneath the windshield, extended to the front of the dashboard; around the indicator gauges and to the floorboard. the manufacturer stated that the dashboard was designed using plastic that would crack as the vehicle ages. the failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 75,000.
I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 quad cab 4wd pickup. i am the original owner and the dashboard is falling apart, it has huge cracks and am afraid to put any pressure on it because i think it will cave in. the dash started cracking about three ago and i didn't know it was such a widespread problem with this vehicle until i did a search online and found that many other people have had the same problem. i have gotten the run around from my dealership about this issue and that is why i'm filing this complaint. *tr
The dashboard all of a sudden cracked like crazy. and now i read all 2001 dodge ram trucks are doing this. *ak

Dash board cracked on my 2001 dodge ram 1500 slt 4wd. *tr
The dashboard started falling apart shortly after i purchased the truck. pieces of the dash keep falling down into the area where the wires are at. *tr
My dodge ram 1500 dash has cracked in numerous places. i understand this has been a common problem. this happened numerous months ago. *tr
Bought the truck used from dealership. dashboard already slightly cracked. previous owner said dash just started cracking on its own for no reason. this has been reported all over the country by people with the same year, make, and model. the dash just falls apart as a result of poor manufacturing. electrical wiring is in danger of failing due to gaping hole in dash. dodge needs to recall their mistake. dodge would not pay for repairs and just id nothing. *tr
I have a 2001 dodge ram pickup truck and my dashboard has a huge hole in it, it is extremely cracked. i am concerned this could cause electrical problems. *tr
I, like countless others, own a 2001 dodge ram pick up in which the dashboard is disintegrating. chrysler/dodge refuses any responsibility although they know there is a problem. full cost to repair is over $1,000.00. i have been told a variety of excuses such as "parked in the sun" or having used interior surface protectors. through my own research i've found that the most likely named culprit is the use of non-virgin or recycled plastic or polymers as a certain percentage of forming material. my dash started as a small crack between the windshield and defroster vent, and has now begun spreading towards the passenger side seat, currently 8 inches. this is not just a cosmetic issue but also a safety issue as well. imagine what shards of plastic can do during a small fender bender or to wiring and equipment behind the dash. from what i've been reading about other's experiences i can soon expect the entire dash cover to continue cracking and ultimately fall apart. it's obvious that chrysler/dodge simply expects to wait everyone out as they trade in or sell their trucks, especially in this day of unstable fuel prices. however, many of us rely on our trucks for daily life, buy with the intent of keeping them for many years in good running shape and appearance and expect the manufacturer to be responsible to the owners of their vehicles. i feel that chrysler/dodge is just "dodging" the issue. *tr
I bought a new dodge ram 1500 truck in 2000. the truck has app. 60,000 miles, well cared for, and looks new. about a month ago i noticed a huge crack in dashboard on top of passenger air bag.now the crack has spread all over to th driver side. large parts of dashboard are falling down inside leaving huge holes above the electrical and the air bags.i am worried about the air bags going off and electrical falure. this is not a cosmetic issue, it is a safty issue.i contacted crysler and they said since i was the original owner and had service on the truck at my local dodge dealer they would look at the problem at my expense, and if they found that it wasn't my fault they would pay for half of the parts and labor to repair.i have paid for this truck once and i'm not paying for it again, not even half.this is a safty issue and a defect by dodge and needs to be replaced by dodge ,not the customer.this should be a recall !
I purchased a used 2001 dodge ram 1500 slt laramie 2x4 in may 2005 from cutter dodge in hawaii with 32,000 miles.. the truck was flawless. in the beginning of 2007 my dashboard began to crack. i have taken excellent care of the truck as far as maintenance and protective measures to prolong the truck. i contacted the dealership and they said i would have to pay for a new dashboard with parts and labor it was quoted at $2100.00. i've researched online and through networking that everyone who owns a 2000-2003 dodge ram has a bad dashboard. it seems to be a safety issue, being the majority of the cracks are above the passenger side airbag. i have purchased a dashmat to try and prolong what is left of the dashboard, and at the same time upset that dodge will not replace the dashboards, that are faulty. i've owned older trucks that didn't have dashboards that cracked or fell apart. could someone look into this? *tr
Dash on our 2001 dodge ram pick-up is shattered. heard on a talk show that this is being reported in florida. we have a friend with the same year model truck and it is beginning to do the same thing. our truck has always been parked under a carport and has only 58,000 miles on it. we have heard that the dash will collapse and cause an accident. *tr
My 2001 dodge ram 1500 has a dash which began cracking several months ago. the cracks have gotten progressively worse in size and number. a little over 3 months ago a large portion of my dash caved in exposing the wiring underneath to direct sunlight. also more recently, the molding around my instrument panel is cracking. this could become a hazard should the wiring melt due to not being protected from sunlight. no recall has been made by dodge and i am not in a position to spend several hundred dollars for a factory defect. *tr
I own 2001 dodge ram truck . my dashboard is badly cracking and i am now having electrical problems. i went online to find out that other people are having the same issue. its a safety issue per local 6 news. *tr
2001 dodge ram truck dash is full of cracks. *tr
2001 dodge pick up - hood flew up due to failure of secondary safety latch - purchased replacement hood hinges @ cost $239.00 - damage to hood also which i did not repair. *tr
My dashboard had a crack and it has now turned into a huge hole. why doesn't dodge doing something about this. i've read hundreds of complaints on this. *jb
Front dash collapsed, pieces of broken dash have fallen into areas where wiring is. numerous other owners of the same year/make/model have had exact same thing happen. can't be considered safe driving around with a 24" hole in the dash with pieces loose within the electrical components, to date not considered a recall item by dodge. *tr
I own a 2001 dodge ram 1500. i am complaining about my dash in my truck. it has been broken since 2003, it has been brought to my attention that i am not the only person suffering from this problem. recently the dash lights would turn off then turn back on. right now i will not drive my truck at night in fear that more lights will fail. *tr
I now have two ram 1500 trucks with dash top failures here in texas. i was hit from the rear in my 2000 ram 1500 and plastic pieces from the already cracked and cracking dash hit me in the face as it exploded on impact causing many minor facial cuts but none in my eyes. being blinded caused me to loose control of my vehicle. i then hit a telephone pole. air bag deployment occurred that cut both air bags on both sides with more shards of the dash. my 2001 ram 1500 also has a severely cracked dash and is getting much worse. this occurred within 6 months of purchase. chrysler corp. refuses to respond and the dealership will not respond with any help claiming they are not responsible plus they have no parts or any way to fix the problem. they claim there are no plans for the parts to be manufactured either. this problem has become an epidemic to ram owners and will someday become and cause serious and potentially fatality problems. accident reports are not showing the dash as a problem. they indicate the cracked dash was caused by the accident and is a result. insurance companies claim it is a manufactures problems. the owner takes the hit unless he can convince the insurance adjuster to total the vehicle. the present political situation nation wide is stopping my pleas to my representative on my complaints and pleas for assistance to fall on dead ears. dodge dealers are hiding the fact that a cracked dash ram 1500 trade ins are being junked to hide this major issue. thusly it is not getting the proper attention. at local auto auctions the dodge ram 1500's do not sell. as a note: there is also a major transmission problem as noted by most transmission shops all over the country. to my knowledge, nothing is being done to correct many and most of dodge ram 1500's problems because of the dashes. "get them off the road at the owners expense" is chrysler corporations plan as per the factory representative when he was cornered. i have bought my last dodge. *tr
There was no singular event that caused this failure. the dashboard is cracking and falling apart. new cracks appear in places randomly and problem is getting worse over time. nothing has been done to correct the failure- dodge offered to replace the part for $600 plus labor. this is a very dangerous condition. during an accident chunks from the dash can fly out and be propelled by the airbag. dodge must replace this part for everyone's safety. *tr
The dashboard on my 2001 dodge ram 1500 pickup truck has cracked and i believe may be affecting my control panel (odometer and speedometer). i went to drive my truck one afternoon and the whole control panel wasn't working. i also have some kind of fumes coming from my vents whenever i turn on the air conditioning, heat or defrost which may be related to the dashboard also. my defrost doesn't work at all due to the cracks in the dashboard because the air isn't going where it is supposed to go.
The dashboards on dodge trucks are clearly defective and a broken shard of the dash plastic lacerated my face when it came loose a flew through the cab of the truck from just normal wind turbulence with the winow open at freeway speed. *js
Cracks in dash of 2001 dodge ram 1500 pickup. *tr
I own a 2001 dodge ram 1500. about a year ago i found a small crack in the dashboard. now my dashboard is completely cracked all over and large pieces are beginning to break off and fall in. i looked into getting it repaired, but the costs were well over $1200. i recently saw a report or wftv channel six in orlando that the dashboard collapses are causing problems with the wiring and electrical systems. i plan on calling the chrysler car line to see if they will replace the dashboard, but they currently do not have plans to recall any of the vehicles.*ak
Developed a crack in the dashboard along the edge close to the windshield. a month or so later multiple cracks developed all over the dash. 2012 chunks of dash falling in caused lights to fail. took the vehicle to vann dodge in vineland, nj to be inspected, got response from dodge that there is no recall on the dash board on my 2001 dodge ram, and that because of the mileage and year there is nothing that can be done to correct this issue approximately 80k miles when inspected by vann dodge. when the cracks first started to develop i thought that it was because of the cold weather, but after investigating online i have found that this problem exist all around the country with the 2001 dodge. it is no longer a cosmetic issue, it is a safety issue do to the fact that the wiring is now being compromised by being exposed to extreme temperatures hot and cold!!!! *tr
Dashboard collapsing after cracking and problem with turning on the bright lights and the lights going off. *tr
The dashboard of the 2001 dodge ram 1500 truck started cracking all of a sudden and was getting worse by the day. now i am having trouble with the headlights due to the dashboard problems , and it is a safety issue. *ak
I have a 2001 dodge dakota that has a crack in the dashboard. i have seen that there are over a 100 people that have the same problem. but no one seems to be concerned about this problem. the airbag could deploy if you hit a bump or a pothole too hard. what is it going to take for dodge to recall these automobile, maybe somebody dying. *tr
Passenger side door on the bottom is real thin and is rusting out. it crumbles when you touch it. we had a body man that works on vehicles take a look out it. he stated it would be very difficult if possible to fix it without replacing the whole door. we have had other customers with the same problem on these vehicles. *nm
I have a 2001 dodge ram purchased used in 2006. it had 1 or 2 small cracks in the dash at the time of purchase. i wasn't too concerned about them, but then within a year or 2 the cracks multiplied. i then began to have issues with large pieces of the dash completely breaking and falling out. i now have multiple giant holes in the dash. i didn't realize this was an actual issue with other dodge rams until i searched out to replace it. i have discovered that 1000's of people are having the same issue, far from being labeled "isolated". this issue should have been handled via a recall years ago. *tr
2001 dodge ram 1500 dash cracked, then cracked again, and is now breaking apart. passenger airbag may soon be affected, could pose a safety issue. this is a very widespread problem in this year/ make of vehicle due to a manufacturers defect. *tr
Cracked dashboard. *ak
Upon entry into my truck on sept. 30, 2006 my son said " dad do you know you have a large crack in your dash from passenger side defrost vent to almost the airbag ?" i had just cleaned the interior a few days earlier and the crack was not there then. since then the cracking is getting worse and i have found this a defect problem that many dodge ram owners have. i fear this problem is not just cosmetic but could affect the passenger side air bag's deployment and possibly more. replacement costs $500.00-$800.00 and no warranty. *nm
I have taken my cloth cover off dashboard 1 time a month to clean it since i bought this vechile and there have been no problems. today i take if off and crack and breakage. i feel there is a safety issue here if an accident should happen pieces of the dashboard will fly throughout the vechile and the cracks are almost to the passenger side airbag. how will this affect the air bag will it work or will it not its not a risk i would like for anyone to have. *nm
