Problems with 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 STRUCTURE

I own a 2001 dodge ram 1500. my dashboard began collapsing. my wife called dodge and they advised her that it was not their problem because although this is happening a lot, there is no recall. they further advised her to call local dealerships to see if they could help. the dealerships advised that there would a $100-$200 deductible and they would get back to us, to date they have not. she called steve cooper at local 6 news who did a story on the issue. *tr

Defect among multiple owners!!!! when i bought my 2001 dodge ram 1500 v6 pickup, it was beautiful. it had a clean engine, clean body, no scratches, except under the bed cover, and there was no crack in the dash!!!! *tr now one year later, i have this huge crack on the passenger side, that runs from the windshield all the way to the glove compartment! i had no idea where it came from, so i clicked on this site, for a dash cover, and luckily, i found that there are many of us with this same problem, that dodge needs to fix, for free! there is no way that this problem could be anything but a factory flaw, and dodge needs to do a re-call and fix them. is there anything we can do, to unite and get this problem taken care of asap? please feel free to contact me by email...i live in darlington, sc...email me at: [email protected] looking forward to hearing from anyone who would like to get in touch about this very serious problem, and how we can do something about it post #: 1

I have a 2001 dodge 1500 ram pickup. it is garage kept and has been since 2001. i baby this vehicle. it only has a little over 60,000 miles on it to date. for no reason the dash started to crack, then a couple of days ago, the dash exploded leaving a huge crater in my dash. i was driving down the road when this happened and it scared me to death. i thought someone had hit me. my husband has a 2001 2500 dodge ram pickup and the dash has now started cracking in his truck. the local dodge dealership said they are aware of this happening to the dodge trucks, but because there is not a recall there is nothing they can do. i feel this should be a recall issue because it is happening to so many of these trucks, and this can be a safety issue because no one knows when this will happen. *tr

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 and the dash has started cracking really bad. my only real problem with that, that if i happen to have an accident and the air bag is deplode is there a chance that it will either become airborn and fly with the air bag and become even more of a danger or if it will cut the airbag and make it non usable .i've talked with a few friends and all there dashes are the same way you would think that dodge would have done something about this but i guess not..thanks *tr

The dashboard on my 2001 dodge ram is cracking and crumbling. i contacted dodge's (lack of) customer service (their reference number 1z256049, reps name was jessica). they told me (in so many words) that it is my problem not theirs. obviously, they have my money now and are no longer concerned with my returning as a customer. so this is how the "new dodge" is improving the company??? if they do not step-up to the plate and do the honorable thing, shame on them. their reputation will continue to spread thus they will certainly pay for their shameful methods in the end. regards, josh *tr

Dodge ram 1500 i have the cracking dashboard problem. started one morning when i got in my truck to leave work. got to work it was fine. when i got back in it to leave there was a spider web crack along the passenger side dashboard against the window. has gotten a little bigger in the past month or two but otherwise has stayed the same.

Unbelievable problem to have on a truck that has been so pampered. rarely driven on less than paved roads, maintained religiously, immaculate interior. imagine my shock to discover several huge cracks in the dash! one starts at the top to the left of the steering wheel and runs all the way to the windshield, and the other intersects across. i have not yet taken it to the dealership for consideration, but after reading these posts i'm not holding out much hope for a reasonable resolution. what a ginormous piece of crap. *tr

Last november on my way to school, i was involved in a rollover accident while getting onto the highway. the roads were bad and extremely icy. however, i lost control of the truck while getting onto the highway, put it into 4x4 and corrected myself, then the 4x4 went out (which commonly happened), lost control, hit the median sideways, and rolled the truck. the problem was during the rollover, 1. i had to push myself back into the seat to engage my seatbelt, and 2. the back two in roof roll guards broke. i was only going about 20 - 25mph when i rolled and the back window smashed down several inches. the collapsing of the roof should not have happened as bad. the median had over 6" of snow in it. if a person was sitting in the back seat, he/she would have been seriously injured. truck is considered totaled. model is a 2001 dodge 1500 4x4 quad cab short box slt/laramie w/the 5.2l magnum v8. *tr
