I bought my 2001 dodge ram 1500 nov 2004, everything on my dash was fine. i went on a detachment for two weeks and when i got back i noticed a small crack in the middle of my dash. i went to the dodge dealer and they said there was nothing that they could do. so i started looking for a new one and no one sold it online except for in the junkyards which most of them were worse then mine. i went on cruise at the end of 2005. my father had my truck while i was gone. when i had returned not only did the crack get bigger but a hole grew right in the middle of my dash. my dash is in two pieces now and is a hazard to my child and myself. i can't turn my airbag on the passenger side in fear that it will kill my passengers if i get into an accident. *tr

The 2001 dodge ram 1500 has a problem with the dash cracking and breaking off. now dodge has refused to repair this problem but in my opinion this is a major risk factor. by allowing the dash to crack and fall into the wire system infront of the driver and passenger, its a fire hazard waiting to happen. by not fixing the problem dodge is risking the lives of hundreds of people if not thousands. dodge is also losing out on life time buyers like my self that do not want to put their lives at risk. the risk of a fire is to great in my opinion and if one life can be saved by the recall or if the fire causes someone to crash into someone else or being trapped in the fire and being burned to death this needs to be recalled. *tr
2001 dodge ram 1500 50,000 miles bought new. dash board cracking above airbag from windshield to air bag. i called a dealer about it and they said there was no recall that was the end of it. now i see others are having the same problem. buying dash cap. *tr

I own a 2001 dodge ram 1500- whole dash is cracking and falling apart. this could be safety hazard as what if pieces of the dash fall into ac vent and get forced out? or what kind of effect will sunlight have on any wiring exposed by cracks? *tr
While traveling westbound on us 30 in the right lane just pass st rt 603 traveling at 60mph the hood released and came back against the windshield. was able to slow down on the 4 lane and merge to the left berm to stop safely.*tr
I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500. the dashboard started to crack a few months ago. i don't drive my truck very often, i only use it for personal use. so therefore it is not abused in anyway. it has only 94,000 miles and was kept under a carport for most of its life. the only reason i am writing this complaint is to hope there will be a recall. i did some web surfing and found that there was countless people with the same problem. some people said that dodge responded to there problems with it not being a safety issue. i beg to differ, i read on one account that a woman was driving at night when her dash fell and shorted out the electrical system to her lights. just the sheer fact of the dash falling while she was driving could have caused a serious accident let alone the lights going out on her at night. i sure hope that dodge does the right thing and does a recall. *tr
Purchased a used 2001 dodge ram in 2004. kept it clean, stacked nothing on the dash, kept in the garage good part of the year. fall of 2008 went out to my truck and found 4 cracks in the dash and one in the bezel around the instrument panel. have not called dodge yet due to no warranty and purchasing truck used. *tr

I've noticed on my low mileage 2001 dodge ram 1500 that the dash has been cracking and i bought a dash mat to cover the problem and now it is in horrible condition. i see that there are many people with this problem and i worry if i am ever in a wreck with a passenger that they are going be harmed by the large chunks of dash they are very sharp. i have taken great care of this pickup and there is no reason that this should be happening! *tr
2001 dodge ram 1500 truck: the dash is cracking and falling in all at the base of the window. the plastic pieces are sharp and loose inside the dash. these pieces can get lodged in electrical components or fans causing shorts and potential fire hazards. dodge is not offering to repair or replace this defect. *tr
The dashboard on my 2001 dodge ram 1500 is totally falling apart. it started as a crack and now there's a big hole in the dashboard. i've read that this can lead to exposed electrical wires that may become damaged and cause a safety issue. dodge needs to do something about this issue. *tr
The dash was cracked when i purchased the vehicle over two years ago. there were cracks running over the area above the steering wheel and over the glove compartment, running into the area of the passenger airbag. it has steadily gotten worse. just yesterday, 29 october 2010, the front cover quite literally exploded into fragments. the dash is currently not attached, it is just hanging. it stays in place for the most part but can very easily be lifted. i have seen, heard and read of many other dodge dashboards with this same problem. if it is so prevalent, the manufacturer should be held responsible. a solution to this defect, be it a recall or reimbursement for repairs, is seriously past due. *tr

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 pickup. noticed walking around my truck one day a crack in my dashboard starting at the windshield running to the driver compartment. a closer look revealed 5 more cracks. i didn't think it was old enough for this to happen but decided to go online to order a replacement dash. i was very surprised to find numerous complaints from other dodge ram owners having the same problem. a video of a news report from a florida tv station is where i found out about this site. they urged any ram owner with this problem to contact your site. i will most likely pay to have this fixed. my concern is that there was a defect in material from the vendor dodge used for the dashboards and they will not own up to it. the news report made me have concerns about pieces of the dash falling in on the passenger airbag or causing electrical problems and possibly some safety issues. *tr
Huge cracks in dashboard after only 50,000 miles on vehicle. *tr
I own a 2001 dodge ram 1500 pickup truck. recently i went out to my truck to go to work and noticed a large crack in my dash board running the entire length of the dash from the windshield to the front of the dash. this occurred about 2 months ago. and now as of this date 11 sep 2008 i have noticed several more cracks are now present. it is concerning because the biggest crack runs close to the passenger side airbag area. i am concerned that the airbag might deploy while driving if the dash collapses as has happened on several other dodge ram pickups. the airbag deployment might cause an accident or worse an injury. *tr
I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 that i bought used 2 years ago. truck was flawless now has 2 large cracks from the windshield to midway back on the top of the dash. now having problems with hi beam lights. *tr

Dashboard cracking. *tr
I have a 2001 dodge ram 4x4 1500 truck. a little over two years ago i noticed that the dash board started to crack for unknown reasons. now my dash has big holes in it where the dash is just falling apart. parts of the dash have fell through into the vents and then just cracking off in big pieces. which leaves the area exposed. i have been cut when the pieces just crack off and they have very sharp edges. i also have a son that was injured when he applied a small amount of pressure, trying to get into the truck and his hand went through it where it was so brittle and just broke. he was cut pretty good. i have a big piece under my seat. my dash is a huge safety hazard. the air bag on passenger side has been turned off because i don't want sharp pieces to hurt anyone if i have a wreck. also theirs not a dash there for any support. these sharp pieces pose a safety concern. i can't replace the dash due to the fact all the other dashes were made out of the same product and it will just crack over time too. the dash is still in my truck, well what's left of it. *tr
I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 and since last year the dash start to shown a lot of deep cracks on top and in a dash trim line. i made some research and find out this is common in this particular model and year, dealership said is nothing they can do about it except sell me a new dash and trim. im afraid like in others people situation the dash will collapse while im driving, this vehicle is equipped with dual air bags and this can activate anytime with this collapsing noise are developing from the dash due the structure unstable condition. *tr

2001 dodge quad cab pickup has failing wiring in steering column which makes truck die while driving . which in turn there is no power brakes or steering and no electrical functions that makes the truck run . dead on the road literally. who knows at what speeds this problem may occur. luckily, it happened to me while going slow and i was able to stop the truck. no known human deaths yet that i have heard of from this. if the problem is not fixed with wiring harness there will be deaths, i'm pretty sure due to this problem. i would like to do my best to keep my family and other families safe. this needs to be dealt with before someone does die unnecessarily in an accident that can be avoided by replacing the problem part of the pickup. *tr the bearing clutch, rear carrier bearing, axle seals, rotors, power steering pump, pinion carrier bearings were all replaced. also, the right turn signal and headlights failed. the center seat console bolting system fell out of the truck, the plastic dashboard panel and housing around the instrument panel was cracked in four places. the gasket on the water pump was leaking. the gasket, water and timing chain were replaced. the clutch failed, due to the wrong year transmission being installed in the vehicle. a 2000 transmission was installed in the vehicle, instead of a 2001. updated 10/15/14
My father bought this truck new in 2001, and i bought it from him in 2008. about 20000 miles on the unit when i bought it. in 2008, the dash started cracking and became very brittle, pieces began to break out and has continued to crack and break. it is now 2014, about 32000 miles on this unit, and i am going to have to replace the dashboard with an aftermarket product. based on the number of complaints from other owners, i would believe that the materials used in the original dash were below acceptable quality. no front end zerk fittings for steering components- cheap design and construction. i had to have new front end assemblies with zerk fittings, at a cost of about $1400.00. (because chrysler/dodge went cheap in construction.) my last dodge vehicle, i think i can do better. *tr

There is a large crack in the dash board. this is a safety issue, the passenger airbag may not operate properly, electrical issues may arise, along with speaker failure and dashboard light failure. the crack runs front the front window to the bottom of the dashboard. my 16 years old drives this truck. it is not safe. dealer says not a recall item, nothing to do. there are many complaints of this nature to 2001 dodge ram 1500 for this model year, this needs to be recalled and replaced by dodge. should this vehicle be involved in an accident, the passenger airbag may not work properly, electrical issues may arise from the vibrating of the dashboard. dashboards do not crack. *tr
I own a 2001 dodge ram 1500, i have had no problems with this truck until now. the dash has cracked in several places and has a hole about 6" in diameter. if i am involved in a crash the sharp pieces of plastic from the deteriorating dash will be very dangerous. i am very concerned for the safety of myself and any other occupants riding with me. *tr
