Faulty dashboard and instrument panel which has cracked into many pieces in which the dealer will not cover. it should have been a recall as a faulty part from chrysler's supplier. the dealers response is that it is not their problem. i have researched and have found all over the united states through blogs from people who have the same vehicle as i with the same problem.

Dash on truck is cracked severely. it is very close to where the airbag deploys. if airbag deploys will most likely pull some dash parts with it. no reason for dash to be cracked faulty material most likely. *jb
The dash board on my 2001 dodge ram is falling apart. my 1998 ram did the same thing. the cost of a new dash is around $700.00 and will do the same thing. i believe it is a safety issue since the dash houses the airbag.

The front wheel assembly, control arms, and wheel hubs had to be replaced by local dealer. i was told by a trained technician that the wheel's could have broken away from the vehicle while driving. the engine heater core and air conditioning main element stopped functioning and had to be replaced by local dealer. the rear differential, pinion bearings and cups stopped working at 77,400 miles and had to be replaced by local dealer. this was just 2,000 miles after the previous stated parts had malfunctioned. old parts are only available from the rear differential, but invoices are available for all work performed. *nm

The entire dash including sub-frame for my dash on my 2001 dodge 1500 started cracking and has continued to fall apart. i have read on the internet other complaints about this same problem. i searched for a used dash from used auto parts yards and they indicate they are defective and all crack and fall apart if you attempt to remove them. the dealers charge in excess of $2000.00 to replace the parts with no warranties against defects. *jb

I bought the truck used with only about 30,000 miles on it. there were tiny cracks in the dashboard but over the next couple of months with the car being parked in the shade, the cracks grew worse and worse until now there are about 5 major cracks and i'm concerned that two will merge to create a hole in my dash. if this happens, the components and concealed wiring will be at risk of failure due to sun exposure and a safety hazard. *jb

I drive a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 1/2 ton. i am a victim of the famous "cracked dash" epidemic. around april of 2005 i began noticing small cracks developing on my dash. beginning from the windshield and eventually from around the a/c vents. it has since progressed into the entire dash being almost completely broken out. i have resorted to a temporary dash cover to conceal the damage. i have read on the internet about certain safety issues with the cracked dash. if i were to have an accident and my air bags deployed, the cracked dash could cause the airbags to be punctured and possibly limit my safety. this a major concern of mine and i would like it fixed. *jb

2001 dodge ram that has always been garaged until 2005. in 2005, the dash top began to crack in one area... but over time the cracks have increased and become more numerous and severe. because the some of the largest breaks are located at the passenger air bag area, i have actually had passengers in my truck ask me to turn off the airbag (since deployment can happen at slow speeds like tapping a bollard while parking, etc.) 12 out of 14 (86%) of people i know with trucks close to my truck's year model have the same extreme cracking, quite a few are even worse than mine...*jb
I own a 2001 dodge ram 1500 quad cab rwd. in the past two years my dashboard has crumbled. pieces are actually starting to fall into the firewall. i can touch the dash with one finger and apply minimal pressure and the dash spider webs. this truck has less than 100k miles and is parked under a covered shed at home. this is ridiculous and seems to me to be a real safety issue. *jb

Engine check light 442 due to leak in evaporator hose assembly. my truck in only a 2001 but the dealership says that is normal for dodge trucks. it is a costly repair and is not covered by my extended warrenty. i know of several other persons who have had the same problem.
