Problems with 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 WHEELS

Also refer to nhtsa complaint 10002464. i was driving my '99 dodge ram and all 5 lugs on the right front wheel sheared off and the wheel came off and careened across a parking lot. the same wheel fell off the same way in 2002. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 1999 dodge ram 1500. the contact heard an unfamiliar noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. he arrived at the dealer and they applied grease to the rear of the vehicle. the contact was charged $111 for the repair, however, the noise still persists. the speed was unknown. the current and failure mileages were 117,600.

While driving 65 mph on the creek turnpike the vehicle, 1999 dodge ram 4wd, began to shake when suddenly the left rear wheel disengaged from the vehicle and rolled 150 yards down the road. the vehicle brake system was severely damaged upon impact with the pavement. potential catastrophe was avoided. the exact same incident happened to my son with his 1997 dodge ram. *jb

Rims limited chrome 17 inch made by guam. owner purchased the rims in august 9, 2001. the spokes on these rims are cracked all the way through. owner fears that the rims will break off while driving. owner contacted the manufacturer, and was told that the company that manufactured the wheels are not limited wheels. someone had put the guam name on the wheels . the wheels were made in china, and guam filed bankruptcy, and went out of business. *ak no recall for the substandard wheels. the consumer was told that the company that made the wheels are no longer contracted by them. *tc

Left front wheel partially broke loose, with loss of steering, causing pick-up to veer sharply to left, striking a security fence, and severely damaging left front, under-carriage and left wheel suspension. speed approx. 30 mph

While driving consumer noticed vehicle pulling to the right excessively. the next day consumer pull forward out of driveway and the right front wheel fell completely off. the wheel lug nuts were completely sheared off at the rotor. the incident damaged vehicle's steering linkage. *nlm

Truck came with oe wheels-16x7 steel/bright trim ring quantity of 4 plus spare. 3 of the 4 wheels have cracks. this vehicle has never been used adversely nor has it ever been used in any off-road conditions. mileage is daily driving only. my question is: has there been any related reporting of this defect of these wheels on any other vehicle of the same make, model or different make, model, etc.? should i contact the dealer direct or use my insurance claims adjustment? if you have questions for me directly, please call or email. *ak

While driving 50-55 mph 3 of 5 bolts came off right front tire. rim was damaged, dealer told consumer since he rotated tires himself he was to blame for bolts coming off. *ak

While traveling at the speed of 55 mph on the highway the left rear wheel broke off the housing unit, causing the vehicle to steer out of control and slide into a stop. wheel then bounced down the road into the rear windshield, and driver sustained an injury. dealer has been contacted. *ak

Vehicles inner wheel well liner/the gas tubing goes down in front of the rear wheel, and without the cover it is open to rocks hitting it. the liner is to protect it, and it is not there. dealer contacted, and is not aware of the problem, manufacturer cannot duplicate problem. *ak
