Tl* the contact owned a 2007 dodge nitro. while driving 10 mph, there was an abnormal popping noise and the driveshaft emerged through the floor and struck the air bags. the frontal and driver side air bags deployed. the driver sustained injuries to the face. the passenger also sustained injuries to the face and had loss of vision. medical attention was provided. the vehicle was towed to clear lake chrysler jeep dodge (15711 gulf freeway, webster, tx 77598), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and a chrysler engineer deemed the vehicle a total loss. the vehicle was then towed to ron carter chrysler jeep dodge (3005 fm 528 rd, alvin, tx 77511) where it was diagnosed that the seat belts, air bags, drive shaft, air bag module, and a hole in the floor needed to be repaired. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the issue and did not assist. the failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro. the contact stated there was an explosion that occurred under the vehicle. as a result, the vehicle elevated with the driver and passenger in the vehicle. the driver side air bag failed to deploy. in addition, smoke emitted into the vehicle and flames appeared underneath. the driver's seat belt failed to release. the driver sustained bruises to the left arm, back, and neck injuries that required medical attention. the rear passengers also sustained bruises and neck injuries that did not require medical attention. the driver and passenger were able to exit the vehicle. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to the contact's resident. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v121000 (air bags, power train, structure). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 125,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro. the contact stated that that while driving at 35 mph, the front driver's side seat belt un-buckled independently and failed to buckle intermittently. the air bag warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 140,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro. the contact was traveling 25 mph when a vehicle crashed into the right side of the vehicle. the air bags deployed and the seat belt restrained the contact from striking the air bags. the contacts vehicle was spun around from the initial impact and another vehicle crashed into the rear of his vehicle. the driver side seatbelt then released from the latch, sending the contact into the passenger seat. the contact was injured. a police report was available. the vehicle was towed to the dealer to be repaired. the dealer stated that he was aware of common seat belt failure in the same year, make and model as the contacts vehicle. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileage was 39,000.

2007 dodge nitro rt. seat belt rubs on the panel where the seat belt mechanism is and due to the rubbing from the seat belt, it creates a sharp edge on the plastic panel and now my seat belt is fraying due to the sharp edge. every time the belt is getting worse and worse..dealer wont replace. i have pics of the area effected. if people get into a crash the seat belt may fail on impact..this is a big subject on our dodge nitro forum..lots of complaints. *tr
