We have classified the 4 complaints from 2001 Dodge Neon about SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC into the following categories.
Dt*: the contact stated while applying brake pressure at 40 mph on the highway, there was an increased stopping distance which resulted in a rear end collision, and the airbags did not deploy. the contact was wearing a seat belt, but minor injuries were sustained. the vehicle sustained extensive front end damage. the police were alerted, and a report was taken. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the manufacturer was not alerted.
Dt*: the contact stated that the check engine light illuminated constantly. also, the rear brakes squeaked, and there was a loss of power brake assist. the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, where the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the problems. there is a nhtsa recall # 01v154000 pertaining to the service brakes power assist vacuum. the vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vin.
Consumer states rear and front pads wore out prematurely. front and rear pads were replaced. dealer notified. *ak
When the brakes were applied, the pedal went all the way to the floor, which caused the vehicle to crash into an embankment.*jb
Consumer states while dealer was servicing the right rear tire, when taking the tire off the spring and rotors and other brake parts fell off.*jb
Since 7,000 miles to the present mileage front brakes would squeak when brakes were applied. vehicle been to dealer, and had front brake rotors and pads replaced. however, problem reoccurring. feel free to provide any further information.*ak

While driving 55mph brakes locked up, resulting in extended stopping distance. *ak

While traveling approximately 60 mph smoke started coming from front of vehicle. dealership has examined vehicle, and was replacing entire front brake system to correct the problem. *ak *slc

While driving at any speed brake system would lock up preventing proper operation of vehicle. dealership has examined vehicle and determined that front brake calipers were not releasing, and that brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. please provide any additional information / attachments.*ak
The shoulder part of the seat belt did not work and there are problems with my brakes. *ak
Brake sensor systems did not indicate that my brake pads where wearing out. as a result extensive damage was done to the rotors, creating a protentional safety problem. *ak
Recall# 01v154000/ manufacturer's recall 983. consumer contacted dealer about recall repairs, and dealer set up an appointment. consumer went to deale r get repairs done, and dealer did not have parts. also, didn't know when parts will be in.*ak
Prior to recall notification, consumer experienced brake failure, she was informed by dealership that vehicle was safe to drive, however after leaving dealership consumer experienced brake problems again, consumer was then informed about the recall, she was then informed that it would take four weeks before vehicle can be fixed. *jb
Complainant was traveling in his dodge neon at approximately 30 mph when he attempted to apply his brakes, which did not work, and he was not able to stop. he hit another car in the rear.
The turn signals malfunctioned due to defective switch. *yh
