Problems with 1999 Dodge Neon SEAT BELTS

Recently reported SEAT BELTS problems on 1999 Dodge Neon

The buckle assembly failed. in detail, the buckle half that is attached on the belt itself (not the seat) fell apart. specifically, the small plastic pieces that maintain tension on the belt when the belt is pulled tight through it broke out of that half of the buckle. if an individual not sits in the rear seat and fastens the belt, he/she can not pull the belt tight, as it has no feature to maintain the tension. this affect both left and right belt assemblies. the dealer excludes coverage under the clean air act of 1990. why? this is a major safety concern as it failed during normal operation.*ak

While driving 45 mph she hit another vehicle broadside and both front seatbelts did not restrain the occupants. driver hit head on rearview mirror,and the passenger hit head on windshield. passenger was suffering from numbness and tingling of lower body. damage to vehicle unknown at this time.*ak

Car was struck by another car (right side) passenger side. car caught fire and driver's seat belt would not release trapping driver within car. the seat belt was cut by another driver in order to free driver from car. seconds after the car was totally engulfed in flames and entirely burnt. we have the failed seat belt component in our posession available for review.*ak

On july 20th, 2001 my husband went to buckle my sons carseat in and the seatbelt pulled out of the seat, all three seatbelts pulled out of the seat very easily, we contacted dodge and they refused to fix it and said it was an insurance problem- i have argued that the seatbelts were never bolted to the frame but my requests have all been refused. *ak

Consumer was traveling and got into a car crash wich caused vehicle to roll over, and had consumer partialy ejected because seat belt failed to work properly. contacted dealer about vehicle. *ak
