Abs; brakes are going out sometimes car just does not stop. caused accident once already. please describe details. tt
While driving at speed 25 mph brake lockup, abs, extended stopping distance, air bag did not deploy on drivers side. tt
Abs system failure caused total loss of brakes on two occasions, brake pedal became spongy before it totally failed. tt
Brake system failure, dealer replaced brake master cylinder, owner experienced spongy brakes and excessive stopping distance. tt
Abs system failure, excessively brake pedal travel, vehicle vibrates when braking non traction surfaces (e.g. gravel, dirt). tt consumer has been told problem is with the master cylinder. *slc

Poor brake performance, the front brake pads have been replaced twice, a grinding sound is experienced when they are applied. *ak
Fuel pump - has extra port that is capped with a non-reenforced rubber cap. the rubber cap appears to have exploded on the end of the cap while the car was sitting in a parking lot. the rupture of the cap allowed gasoline to drip about 1 drop per second. on this car the exhaust pipes are close to the fuel tank. gas fumes were highly noticeable in the passenger compartment. thank goodness for nonsmoker, no sparks, and a guardian angel...my daugther drove the car 7 miles home. this reminds me of the ford pinto fire possibilities. mopar parts does not stock the rubber cap (maybe $1) but will sell the entire fuel pump for just under $300 plus installation. 2) engine - engine failed on cylinder 4 with lost power, etc. had warranty and most of part/labor covered. called chrysler hotline several times and was assured there were no problems being reported with this car (same story at dealer). 3) brakes/air conditioner - failure occurred after car 1 yr old, warranty covered most of costs 4) the failure of the fuel pump component is the most startling of the problems with this car. i sincerely hope that no other neon owner ever experiences this part failure. *ak
Ea94-038 active, brake failure, extended stopping distance when applying brakes. tt
Consumer states the he has been having problems with the anti- lock brake system for over a year. when you braking and turning at the same time, abs activate, causing loss of control/vibration, also replaced master cylinder/accelerator pedal. *ak

8 brake failures (metal to metal) which could have caused serious injuries. brake failures at the following mileages; 4714, 8365, 10773, 16695, 21193. 23695, 43024, 48115. most of the brake failures were due to crystallization of the brake pads. chrysler replaces pads free of charge 1st 4 brake failures and #7 and #8 failures. chrysler did not offer lemon law protection even with the possibility of a possible fatal accident with the terrible brake system on this 1995 neon
