The gear box & differential went out when we were trying to park. applied the gas pedal, felt like the vehicle wouldn't move, applied the gas more & heard a loud 'boom.' we're able to get the vehicle parked, then smoke started coming from the engine. looked to find out there was gear oil leaking from the vehicle. looked online @ dodge journeys & found out there have been a multitude of complaints about the same issue with other owners. had to get the vehicle towed home due to being unable to drive it. this happened october 19th, 2019 & we've been unable to drive the vehicle since incident. our dodge journey is a 2015 sxt all wheel drive with about 120,000 miles on it. there needs to be a manufacturer recall on these vehicles!! we've been told it's going to cost anywhere from $5,000 to upwards of $7,000 to get this issue fixed and we still have a vehicle loan of $11,000 we owe on it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge journey. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle made an abnormal noise and decelerated independently. when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the speed would not exceed 20 mph; however, the rpms revved highly. an independent mechanic stated that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v461000 (power train). the vehicle was not repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

2015 dodge journey. lights for awd, abs and stability control system come on with no notice as i enter a major intersection. loss of power no acceleration. the vehicle finally started to move. the. warning lights went off. contacting dealer for repair.
For the past few weeks my car loses power and turns off while driving and i have to wait 5 min to try and start it again
After driving in about 70 degree sunny day for about 45 min the traction control light and abs light dinged on then after pressing the accelerator the vehicle chuffed and completely died in the middle of a busy interction. turn the vehicle off for about 10 min and continued driving another 45 min without a problem. this has happened on several occasions at various speeds from a stop to about 70 mph.
The 2015 dodge journey r/t awd. i purchased this suv 2 years ago and now while the vehicle is in drive and in motion on streets and highways the second it touches 20 mph and up it is making this" revving noise" as if it is in another gear and it's only in drive! this suv is not that old to have such issues happening now. its not right when the consumer is spending their money for a suv that is giving them issues so early into the purchase. dodge needs to recall this vehicle!! and anyone even thinking of purchasing this suv. honestly don't... run out of any dealership selling this 2015 dodge journey r/t awd suv! the only journey you will take will be back to the dealership with issues!
My 16-year-old son was driving our 2015 dodge journey to school. he began to hear a noise that sounded as if something was dragging underneath the vehicle. the driver behind him was flashing him to pull over, he began having issues controlling the vehicle fortunately he was able to pull over and as soon as he got to the stop sign the car completely died after making a loud noise and started smoking. my son jumped out of the vehicle and the driver behind him told him to get away from the vehicle as he felt it was about to catch fire by the smell. once the tow truck driver got there and try to start the vehicle to put it in neutral the car again filled up with a burning smell. he jumped out and had to call dispatch for safety reasons of transporting the vehicle. once my vehicle arrived at lonestar auto plex in cleburne texas our service man dan was amazing. he kept us informed along the way asked questions and he was provided the service records. come to find out the engine seized up. the engine, oil pump, starter, all had to be replaced. chrysler requested the engine so their engineers could look at it. although everything was covered under warranty, my concern is now that there are others out there driving in the same thing may happen to them if not worse .
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge journey. the contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal rattling sound while being operated. also, the vehicle leaked oil, there was a hole in the transmission, and the check engine warning indicator and brake lights illuminated. the vehicle was taken to sierra chrysler dodge (1305 mountain ave, monrovia, ca 91016) where it was diagnosed that a new alternator was needed. the alternator was not repaired; however, the timing belt and oil leak were repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and offered to compensate the contact for the repairs. the failure mileage was 78,000.
Went for an oil change on 2/15/19, after leaving check engine cane on as soon as i reached home. called and informed the dealership service center. on 2/16/2019 as o was driving to dealership service center car stalled and wouldn't move. car was towed, they inspected it on 2/22/2019 and was told nothing due to oil change caused for car to not move. was told that it's my transmission.
2015 dodge journey purchased new car wont start cant move gear shifter to nuteral or any other gear seems to be a bad problem with them i've checked google for solutions and apparently this is a real problem for this car as many complaints as i've read i've tryed everything i can to solve this problem
The vehicle started slowing down and making noises, not shifting, delayed engagement, and before everything happened it didn't show any sign of problem on the board (no check engine) and the car was in motion, on a city street.
While driving on highway approximately 45-50 mph, beginning to ascend a small hill, an extremely loud squeak was heard and there was a brief period of resistance before the vehicle "lurched" forward and continued to make a clacking noise, followed by a loud crack and more resistance to acceleration as i pulled over. the vehicle is an awd, 3yrs old and had 52k miles on it. it was towed to a dealership and repaired under the powertrain warranty. the dealership informed me that the compounder had failed, locking up the transmission. the awd continued to try to power through, which cracked the power take off (which had a giant piece broken off of it). the dealership replaced the transmission and the pto, but couldn't explain the reason for the failure. as such, i am now constantly worried that the same issue may occur again and cause an accident. i would be very grateful for any investigation into this or similar issues with the powertrain on the 2015 dodge journey awd.
There is a bucking, jolting action at intervals. after stopping, vehicle loses pickup action
The vehicle will lose power while driving down the road and simultaneously the traction control light activates followed by the car launching forward and the service awd and abs lights activating. the vehicle was taken to a chrysler garage which duplicated the problem and saw the faults in the computer. however the garage was unable to formulate a solution. they stated they checked all the connections and ran the vehicle approximately 160 miles without any additional occurrences and released the vehicle without any further repair. 4 days later and approximately 150 miles the problem recurred in a parking lot while backing up with the lights activating in the same sequence.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge journey. while driving unknown speeds, the steering wheel was difficult to turn and failed to move. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer (turpin dodge chrysler and jeep, 90 kennedy rd, dubuque, ia 52002) where it was diagnosed that the power steering hose pump failed and there was metal debris in the transmission and engine. the contact was informed that the vehicle needed a transmission and engine flush. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that the repairs were not included in a recall. the failure mileage was 60,000.
Purchased vehicle in april of 2015, transmission pump went out on it in july 2016 while on vacation moving through the entrance gaits at where we were staying. was fixed under warranty on vacation. dealership did not even give us a loaner while waiting. the following april 2017, it happened again while driving to work only they had replace entire transmission. now my vehicle jerks when switching gears and stalls randomly when i come to a stop. i am at 76k miles. this new transmission is still under warrenty since it has not been a year. this car is a lemon!!! i will be getting rid of it soon. i was hoping to keep it after i paid it off, but i don't think it will last for me to see it get paid off! i have also had a seat track fixed and the radio and navigation replaced, as well as the wiring harness for the steering wheel and cruise control. all during warrenty thankfully. makes me angry because i do not want to start over on a loan and i will not be able to buy at the same interest rate.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge journey. while driving approximately 55 mph, the instrument panel indicated that the vehicle was in park. the indicator remained illuminated for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. the vehicle also shifted out of gear without the contact being in the driver's seat. an unknown dealer diagnosed the vehicle and indicated that there were no failure codes to pinpoint the cause of the failures. the failure occurred ten or more times within a few weeks. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 50,343. the vin was unknown. *tt consumer stated it doesn't matter what speed you are going. vin is invalid updated 02/01/19*jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge journey. the contact stated that the all wheel drive warning indicator flashed intermittently. when the warning indicator illuminated, the vehicle went into two wheel drive and became difficult to maneuver. the vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer to determine the cause of the failure. in addition, the brake pedal was difficult to depress and the front and rear wheels were unstable. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the vin and failure mileage were not available.
My dodge journey has less than 70,000 miles on it. at this point the entire rear drive shaft and all motor and transmission mounts have been replaced. they were all severely damaged. tires show significant wear even though vehicle is within alignment standards. the far left vent (driver's side) blows cool air, but the other three front vents are blowing heat. there is a severe, loud roaring sound that has yet to be diagnosed. this is a ridiculous amount of problems in such a short time of vehicle usage.
When in motion going at variety speeds the car stalls mid movement and power steering stops. it has happened at stops as well as in motion.
I was driving my car out of a drive through and when i got to where i needed to turn, my engine just shut off. car started rolling electrical was still on (lights, etc;) but the steering wheel would not turn at all. i had to put it in park, turn it off and then turn it back on again. after that, it worked again. what if this happens to me going 80 on the interstate? i have children to think about.
At times the car refuses to downshift in order to safely accelerate when needed. common example is when coming to a "rolling stop" at a stoplight and preparing to turn left through an intersection, the car is usually in 3rd or 4th gear. when we press the gas pedal, 3rd or 4th gear aren't low enough gears to make the car safely accelerate through the intersection so you're left just creeping through it in 3rd or 4th gear when the car should've downshifted to 1st or 2nd gear from recognizing the gas was depressed significantly. but over and over again this scenario plays out and it's put my wife and family in danger each time. it was found at the service appointment at lucas dodge in june of 2017 that there was a transmission fluid leak. it is unknown how long this leak existed or how much fluid leaked out or how much mechanical transmission damage occurred. we bought this car brand new and it's now been in for at least 5 repair attempts for this problem and we know the way it is behaving isn't normal as it didn't act this way when we first bought it, plus we've had 2 identical loaner dodge journey's and they do not act this way.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge journey. after the contact owned the vehicle for a year, the transmission failed and the torque converter cracked. the vehicle was taken to sliman's sales & service (7498 leavitt rd, amherst, oh 44001, (440) 988-4484) where the transmission was replaced under warranty. the vehicle had several unknown recall repairs that had to be serviced after the transmission replacement was completed. the contact stated that the transmission indicator flashed on and off since the initial repair. also, the alternator failed and the vehicle shut off in the middle of the street on september 23, 2019. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for repairs, but the same indicator flashed again. the contact planned to take the vehicle back to the dealer, but they were unresponsive. the dealer offered to sell the contact a new vehicle and laughed at her concerns about the condition of her vehicle. the failure mileage was 15,000.
I purchased my vehicle in november 2015, just two weeks ago while stopped at a light my vehicle just turned off . when trying to restart my vehicle jolted then turned on, i took to the dealership they stated all it needed was a software update and it would fix it and that it would never happen again. while 4 days later it happened again this time the vehicle was in motion we were turning a corner and bam the car turns off again almost getting slammed by another vehicle. i had to help my.husband pull the wheel to turn, the steering wheel locked braked didn't work or accelerator. i opened a case with chrysler and they say they can't do anything for me. i really need help.with this some please help this is a unsafe vehicle
I bought the 2015 dodge journey for my family, shortly after i purchased the vehicle, i noticed the transmission was slow to pick up speed. since it was a brand new vehicle, i figured the kinks were just getting worked out. i took the dodge in for a recall for a different issue, and told them check my transmission. they told me the transmission was a "learned" transmission meaning it has to get adjusted to the way it's being drove and could need updating. the dealer checked it and said nothing was wrong. a week later iwas on the freeway and it didn't want to pick up speed like it should. the car acts like it gets stuck in between gears. everytime i get a recall,or take it in for service i have them checkthe transmission, and the answer is always the same. the transmission is still jerking and no solution to the problem. now i am very reluctant to put my wife and kids inthis vehicle with these issues.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge journey. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle jerked. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v675000 (electronic stability control, service brakes, hydraulic) and stated that the part needed for the repair was not available. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 20,000. parts distribution disconnect.

On october 2, 2015 we purchased a new 2015 dodge journey that was under a recall that we were not informed about from carl gregory dodge chrysler jeep in albany, georgia. the engine beauty cover may detach from the engine and come in contact with the catalytic converter. safety risk: if the engine beauty cover remains in contact with the catalytic converter, underhood smoke and/or a fire may occur without warning. remedy: the engine beauty cover must be modified and a mounting system must be installed. recall status: recall incomplete. remedy not yet available. when i called the dealer at 2:15 pm on october 12, 2015 to see why we were sold a vehicle under recall, the service manager told me "i don't know what you want me to say, it's nothing to lose sleep over." in a condescending tone. he did not know how long it'd be before the dealer would send out notices or how long before the repair could be made.
I purchased my 2015 dodge journey crossroad in june of 2015 brand new. at less than 8,000 miles when going from park to drive or reverse to drive i started to experience a violent jerk and / or loud noise. i took it to the dealership and they could not recreate it and sent me on my way. it didn't happen too often then. took it in for the recall and at around 10,000 miles mentioned that it picked up in frequency and again they told me they couldn't get it to happen. i took it in one last time around 12,000 miles because it was happening even more frequently and i was again told they cant recreate it and they refuse to check the transmission. i gave up. now at about 40,000 miles and 3 years later and it happens daily. i will be trying a different dodge dealership soon to see if they can help, if not i am getting rid of this vehicle.
