Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2003 Dodge Intrepid

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 dodge intrepid. while driving 55 mph, an unknown light illuminated on the instrumental panel. the contact drove onto the emergency lane, turned off the vehicle and noticed smoke and fire coming from the engine compartment. the fire and police department were contacted and reports were filed. there were damages to the wiring harness and the front end of the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to the insurance company. the dealer was contacted and stated that there were no recalls for her vehicle. the contact does not know what caused the fire to occur. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileages were 149,000.

Transmission failure

Dt*: the contact stated 2-3 attempts on the ignition must be made before the vehicle will start. this is an intermittent problem. the vehicle has been to the dealership, but no codes are found on the computer and the problem cannot be diagnosed.

Dt: the contact stated after hearing a clicking noise the dashboard board lights and headlights turned off. the failure only occurred in the daytime. the independent repair shop determined the problem was the headlights wiring. *ak

The vehicle leaked transmission fluid. also, while driving the vehicle, it would shift very hard. the rpm revved very high. upon turning the vehicle off, the consumer was unable to restart it. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer on four different occasions and was told that it was an internal electrical problem. please provide any further information.

While driving at 45mph engine, and battery lights appeared on the dashboard, a couple second later, no radio and no steering. dealer stated pulley came off completely. *ak

Dt: the contact stated while driving vehicle stalled and lost power. there were no warning signs or lights indicating a problem. the vehicle was taken to the service dealer, but they have not determined the cause of the problem. the dealer said it could be the engine or an electrical problem. *ak
