Problems with 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan SERVICE BRAKES

The van was pulled in to a driveway with a slight tilt, put in park, with the key removed from the ignition, in park. the primary driver almost always uses the parking brake, and believes it was on at this time. the sliding door behind the drivers side door was opened, something taken out, and closed. at that point in time, the van started rolling backward, to the point where it actually impacted the house on the other side of the street. problem has not been reproducible. taken to the dealership, they performed basic testing, could not reproduce the problem, but will not state that the car is safe at this point in time.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge grand caravan. on several occasions, while driving various speeds, the contact was unable to depress the brake pedal. the contact stated that the brake pedal was very firm. initially, the failure only occurred while the vehicle was in the reverse gear. recently, the failure occurred with the vehicle in drive. on several occasions, the check engine warning indicator illuminated prior to the failure. the contact turned the vehicle off and on, which seemed to remedy the failure. additionally, the contact stated that there was an abnormal grinding noise coming from the rear brakes. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent. the vehicle was taken to holden dodge chrysler jeep ram (640 s governors ave, dover, de 19904, (302) 734-5708) to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code or duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 14,000.

Approaching a t interesection on a reidential street at about 15 mph, i turned right and the vehicle steering was hard and i held on to the steering wheel to direct the vehicle to the street on the right. i stepped on the brakes it did not respond. i stepped on the parking brake foot pedal and the brake dashboard lite turned on but vehicle kept going..i panicked and somehow i managed to slow down and shift the vehicle to p the to d then to p and turned off the ignition. i checked the engine, brake fluid and power steering fluid..everything was ok.

Back left wheel smelled very hot when i got out of the van.went to touch very hot to touch took to local mechanic,after calling dealer ship said out of warranty.back left calipers were bad had to replace both rear calipers,rotors and brake shoes.i believe anything to do with brakes are a hazard the wheel got hot from calipers not working properly could have caused a blowout and brake system failure.im not a mechanic but the mechanic i took it to was disgusted that the calipers had gone bad expecially at that mileage. he suggested i called my dealership back and tell them want happened which i did.the owner said cant help when i take to an outside mechanic.i believe this is a safety hazard i also checked other online complaint seems to have been a problem with dodge van for last 3-4 years.
