With no warning, i went out to start my 2012 dodge grand caravan, and it turned over for about a second, then it was like someone turned off the power to the starter ... it just quit! i tried and tried to start it, but all i get is one small click when i turn the key. i got online and did a search, only to find that this problem has been rampant for years now; and chrysler apparently won't do anything about it. i am currently unemployed and need my van to look for work, and to get to work if i find a job. we are living on my wife's income right now, so i can't afford to put it in the shop, and the warranty has run out. it's only 2 years old ... there's no way i should be having major problems this soon! i don't know what i'm going to do at this point, but i am furious after reading the horror stories people have posted, where some have spent $2000 - $3000 to get this fixed, and then the problem comes back!!! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start intermittently. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. the technician stated that the vehicle was operating as designed; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. the technician informed that the win module possibly needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 81,000. the vin was not available.

While driving along the highway at night, i turned off the high beams because of an approaching car. the multifunction switch instantly failed; i was unable to activate the high beams again, my directional signals did not work and the windshield wipers began to wipe incessantly. i consider this to be a safety-related defect, because i could not signal my intentions to other drivers, nor could i use the high beams to improve visibility. on a two-year-old van with only 89,000 miles, this failure seems premature. *tr

I was entering on a busy interstate when my 2012 dodge grand caravan r/t got to about 50+ mph the gas pedal kept accelerating and would not stop the rpm gage hit 6 the only way i got it to stop was to put the vehicle in neutral and pull of the road the rmp's kept going as did the engine i turned the van off in neutral and put it in park. when i started the van back up it instantly started doing the same thing in park. i turned the van back off and waited about 5 minutes and when i restarted the van it seemed normal. took it to the dealership that day on a saturday they called me monday and said it happened with their technicians driving and he removed the floor mat that had been in there for 2 and a half years and it was fine they told me the floor mat got stuck under the pedal! common sense says it would stop the pedal from being pushed down not pull the pedal to the floor. but what do i know right!?!?!?! i am just a female and mother to 2 small children who were with me when it happened. it did this again with my husband driving on a 6 lane road when he pulled out from a stop. this time the floor mat had not been there. chrysler needs to do something about this matter before a run away vehicle kills someone! they keep telling me they have no idea what the problem is caused from because no codes come up on diagnostics. however if you search the issue online it points to the tipm and the fuel pump not shutting off. the safety issue of this is pretty severe if you ask me. a vehicle that accelerates on its own is pretty serious and dangerous not only for my family but to the general public as well! i do not want to just get rid of the vehicle it is the first brand new vehicle my family has owned and even purchased the extended warranty with the hopes of keeping the vehicle for at least 6 years and now this is not a safe family vehicle! please help with this issue!

On 10/1/2014 i took my grand caravan into my dodge deal for repair related to a recall notice (p25 / nhtsa 14v-234). the recall was about a fire hazard if a switch got wet. i was informed that due to a parts shortage they could only disconnect a switch at that time and that they could not replace the switch because of a parts shortage. that was over 2 months ago (67 days). upon calling the deal this morning, i was informed that they still do not have the part (switch) and have no idea when they will get the part to make the repair. when i first was notified of this recall back in june or july of 2014, i was informed that there was a parts shortage, so i intentionally waited what i believed to be a reasonable period of time before i attempted to get this recall repaired. i have now received a second notice from chrysler telling me to get it repaired. i can see no reason for the delay of parts for this repair. respectfully, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).' *jb

My vehicle was subject to a recall last summer. i have yet to have my vehicle repaired by the dealer. *tr

This morning the first thing i noticed was that the cruise control would not work. this afternoon, i went to a local hardware store, purchased some items then went to my van. when opening the driver door, the driver side air bag deployed from the steering wheel. there is no sign of any damage to the outside of the car. i did notice that when i started the van the windshield wipers began but i could not stop them. when the wrecker came and the car was started, the wipers did not come on by them selves again glad that this did not happen when the car was moving.. *js

After (7) months we are still waiting for the resolution of recall #p25/nhtsa 14v-234. after contacting our dealer several times, they still do not have the part to correct the problem from chrysler. this is an unreasonable amount of time to wait for a large corporation to fix a rather insignificant problem. *tr

Received recall notice p25/nhtsa 14v-234 in june 2014. the immediate fix was to disconnect the electrical supply to the rear quarter vent windows until new parts were available. it has been almost one year now, and new parts are still not available. have not had the use of the rear quarter vent windows since june 2014. ( the windows were working fine prior to this, but the recall states that the window switch may overheat if exposed to liquid moisture, and drivers side door fire.) we have called the dodge dealership in hammond, la several times in the last year to find out if parts were now available, and they inform us that they still have not received the required parts. it is our opinion that this has gone on way too long, so we would like to file a formal complaint against the makers of this vehicle. thank you.

One night i was driving with my 4 young children in the van on a back road to go home. all of a sudden all of my dash lights came on, my radio shut off and my headlights went out. that last about 25 secs. then my van stalled. i was scared to have them in the van with me on a back road with no headlights first then a stalled van. i was able to pull off to the side, waited 10 mins and started it back up again. the next day i had the van running in park it stalled. i started it back up ok, until i put it in reverse. it stalled again after all the dash lights came on then back off. i started back up and it seemed ok. i stopped at a red lights, same thing happened. it stalled after all dash lights went on and off and radio shut down. i have had this van since 3/23/14 and it started 6/25/14. i called the dealer ship and explained the problem to them. they said that since it was 3 days passed the warranty it will be my responsibility. i was like really. i don't know what to do know. i just got the vehicle 93 days ago so only made 3 payments and now have to probably do expensive work on it. the dodge dealer was not helpful and rude about it. so now i have this vehicle i still have to pay on for 6 years and after only 3 months of owning i have major issues and a very big safety issue because i have kids in the van. *tr

All lights on the dashboard came on and the vehicle starting dinging. i pulled over, shut it off, saw no visible problems, tried to restart, & the vehicle would not respond to the fob. had it towed, where they replaced the clock spring. had the vehicle for 6 days when it did the same thing. i am now told that they have to replace the tipm module. this part is on backorder across the us. everything i've read says it will be 3 mths or longer before the part is available. chrysler is aware of the problem & a class action lawsuit has been filed. i am in a power wheelchair, and my van has been equipped with a wheelchair ramp, kneeling system, driver's transfer seat, and low effort steering. i now have to leave my van at the dealer until it is fixed because it's not safe to drive. the dealer provides a loaner but i am unable to transport my power wheelchair. it weighs 360 lbs so it cannot be lifted into a vehicle. i work full time, and rely on my wheelchair to give me the stamina to make it through the day. this tipm module failure is now completely interfering with my life. i will have to make extra plans to get groceries, and to get to and from work. chrysler needs to do something and admit their part is faulty, get them out to people who need them, and cover the cost. once the tipm module is installed, the dealer will charge me another $550. *tr
