Starter relay in the totally integrated power module is bad preventing car from starting. car was stationary when this happened. engine oil pressure went bad resulting in a check engine light, vehicle was moving.

My 2012 dodge grand caravan, with approx. 62,000 miles, keep cutting when i try to start it. the dealer says it the tipm, which costs $1,638. the van will start then cut off. i had to have the battery charged twice before i took it to the dealer for diagnostic.
My van will die at times going down road or just not start, after parking it. then the check engine and stability control flashes on dash. will not come out of park. then it may start randomly and run for a few weeks or couple of months and do same thing again. we have put new brakes, battery, checked fuel pump, and put new tires and had censors on wheels checked. still does not start. t
Radio just went out went to audio store repaired two weeks later went out again. went shopping on may25,2018 came out of store vehicle would not start called tow truck jumped started vehicle i took it to tire plus told me i needed a battery. rear defroster light started blinking could not shut it off and a/c would not go on until the defroster light went off by it self. called and made appointment with chrysler on june 18th,2018 went to keep appointment vehicle would not start. called tow truck, jump started vehicle took it to crystal chrysler dodge. vehicle diagnoses tip-n was bad. chrysler had vehicle from june 18 to june 25, 2018 a rental car was excepted on june 22.
Bad ingnition module. van turns randomly off by it self while driving. if you push on the fob in the ingnition it will start to run again. when van turns off you lose control of the power steering and brakes making it difficult to come to a safe stop. same issues that dodge recalled other model years for but not the grand caravan. it has occured numerous times to us in this van.
The van cut off while driving. eeverytime, i tried to start it, the instrument panel said "no fuse." i had it looked at by a mechanic and he said that my alternator and battery were dead. after they were replaced, the car started up and i drove it to work. on the way to work, while the car was driving, all of the lights in the car went out and the instrument panel reset itself (date, time, and trip computer) after about 5 seconds. this repeated itself every 15 minutes or so, until the car cut off. i refastened the battery connectors, got the car a jump, and it started to run. i parked the car. later, i got in and started it with no problem. the next day, i went to start the car and it wouldnt start. i got a jump and it started up again. driving into work, the car cut off while i was driving on the street. i had to steer to the side of the road to get to safety. the worst thing about it all, is that when the electrical system fails, the key gets stuck in the ignition, and you can not shift into neutral if you need to push the car off the road. i have read multiple reviews about this car's electrical system, but it is a danger to everyone on the road for a car to consistently have electrical problems, especially ones that cause it to cut off while driving. this needed to be addressed before anyone gets hurt.
More then a dozen times our vehicle has completely shut off while in motion going straight at various speeds causing loss of power steering and putting us in unsafe conditions. the a/c will blow hot air in half the vehicle and the radio has turned up the volume to full and the controls are inoperative to turn it down. i feel the dealer intentionally did not tell us about the known tipm issue and told us we had to replace the alternator which we did with no help in correcting the issue. this has been ongoing for a few months. i dont have the vehicle with me and am guessing on the mileage also this happened on multiple dates so i entered one of the random dated below.
Faulty tipm , causing all electrical devices to quit working or operate intermittently on there own . door safety locks to not open and trap occupants inside or not lock when vehical reaches speed. vehicle no start and leave stranded and wrecker charges!

I going driving at 70 mph in i-75 tampa florida and the vehicle turn off. checking in internet the posible problem is overhead in the tipm. i am in this moment in a highway for 3 hours waiting for towning. the vehicle not start.
Driver rear brakes locked up on me today. had fuel relay switch go out but had it replaced, fuel pump went out had it replaced. someone told me the brakes system is under recall.
It appears that i am one of many dodge owners with tipm issues. at least once a day when going to start the engine, it just cranks and cranks but won't start. after turning off the key and trying one or two or three more times, it will start. the battery is brand new, and the starter is getting plenty of power. comparing my experience with what i've read online, i firmly believe the issue is the fuel pump relay switch in the tipm. it started months ago, and has gotten worse. my wife drives this vehicle the most, very often with our kids inside. we just have to hope and pray that it will start and not strand them somewhere. so far, we have only had issues while stationary. thank goodness it hasn't shut off while driving as many other owners have stated. this is why i feel it is an important safety issue. what if it were to shut off in the middle of a freeway or while crossing an intersection? i find it absurd that dodge (or fiat chrysler whatever) would let this issue go while having knowledge of so many tipm issues, even with a class action lawsuit filed against them.
The vehicle has 92,000 miles and when traveling last month the alternator went out. was told at the dealership that fixed it there have been some alternators recalled. with parts and labor the bill was $797.77. they said ours was not on recall list. how do i get reimbursed for surprise expense.
Whenever i turn on the high beams the vehicle has electrical problems. it is like when the vehicle is initially turned on and it goes through a electrical diagnostics test . the indicator lights/sounds flash on the dashboard. as soon as i turn the high beams off again the vehicle works properly. there doesn't seem to affect the control of the vehicle, but when this happens i immediately turn the high beams off because i do not know if the electrical problem will affect the steering and or braking. so any true impact is not known. it has been happening for over a year now. i just don't use my high-beams for fear of having an accident. the issue can be replicated (still happens today).
With key in ignition switch, jarring or natural movement after starting causes system shutdown at any speed. first incident occurred at 55 mph and was left without power steering, brakes or any other electrically controlled system functional.
Ignition switch the van turn off if you hit a bump an highway
When we fist got the van we experienced some issues with the brakes. the dealership was supposed to take care of it but the problem persisted and we went to a recommended mechanic. then the following months we had some issues with the motor mounts. once again we had to replace them and then we had some problems with the electronic computer and we had to re-learn some of the already installed programs. i would like for whoever approves the recalls to go ahead and approve the other issues because for it being a six year old car it definitely has more issues than it should.
The integrated control model is making the fuel relay run all night and make the battery die. i have looked online for recalls and there is none. this problem is happening on more grand caravan. i have had this problem for all most a year. i can't find the tipm or it cost to most. this need to be recalled
The battery light illuminated on the instrument panel. shortly afterwards, the traction control, abs, and air bag lights illuminated and the rpms fluctuated while driving my kids to summer camp out of town. when i arrived to my destination the car would not restart due to the battery being dead.i got a jump start and was able to make it to a local store to replace the battery at a cost of $163 and make it home. the next day i still have the same issues.many others have had the same problem and it would appear this is a common problem. i will be making an appointment to have the vehicle towed to the dealer. i am sure it is the alternator and i will need to replace as others have done. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle is not even paid for yet and the failure mileage was just over 52,000. i really hope this issue will be investigated soon.
When the vehicle is in drive but is stationary, everything will turn off. the electrical system goes down and the engine shuts off. after a brief moment (approximately one to two seconds), the electrical system will come back up and all electronic components come back on, but the clock on the radio is reset to 12:00. at this point, we can put the vehicle in park and restart it. this has occurred several times in the past several weeks. the most recent occurrence was 2017.07.07 and it did it twice within fifteen minutes. we do not know for sure what is causing this to occur, but it seems to be connected to the main computer and/or the anti-theft system, as this is a complete system shutdown.
Multiple attempts to start, perhaps occuring most often in the morning when the vehicle is cold. the problem gets worse over time and eventually won't start at all. unexplained battery drainage due to a relay that is stuck in the closed/on position. you can likely hear the fuel pump running if listening from the rear of the vehicle after it's turned off. battery drainage may still occur even after a new battery is installed. the vehicle stalls while driving and you coast to a stop. the vehicle won't start and appears to be out of gas
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road with difficulty and was able to restart the vehicle. the dealer (northwest hills chrysler jeep dodge ram, 2033 e main st, torrington, ct 06790, (860) 482-0700) and manufacturer indicated that there was no manufacturer recall and service campaign to diagnose and repair the vehicle. the approximate failure mileage was 84,000.
Ignition will turn off when vehicle in motion traveling on roadway at low and high speeds
Three different times, i took my 2012 dodge gran caravan to have the engine check because it stalls out. this happens at any speed. every time all check out ok per the dodge repair center. twice the check engine light was on at the time of the engine stalling. twice no indication. engine just quit. it happened again last night (08/30/2017) when my wife was coming home on the interstate. she was in traffic and the engine just quit. big safety issue. thank god that she was not in an accident. some thing is wrong with my gran caravan. this problem started early this year (2017). first time to a dodge facility was on 05/23/17, next on 06/05/17 and on 07/07/17.
The blend door actuator is failing. it has not worked for over a year. the passenger side front and rear vents will only produce hot air no matter what temperature it is on.there has been a recall for this part for the 2014 and 2015 models; i believe other years should be included. if you search online, this is a very common issue with the 2012 model. the recall number for 2014 and 2015 is tsb no. r62
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge grand caravan. while the vehicle was stationary, the starter malfunctioned. the contact replaced the starter on three occasions. precision auto care in madison, tennessee was made aware of the failure and replaced the starter, but the failure recurred. an unknown dealer in ashland city, tennessee replaced the starter as well, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
Wipers not shutting off even with vehicle completely off and key out. wiper column switch and wiper motor replaced and still doing same thing. troubleshot to tipm bad and will need to be replaced. quoted $1200 - $1400 to replace. we have 5 children and this is our only family vehicle and do not have access to that kind of cash.
The drivers side window switch doesn't make the window go up. you have to play with it for awhile before it does . it does this any time you try to make the window go up
While driving or stationary i will lose all reception on my radio (am/fm) and just get static. the cd player will continue to work. the antenna connection is solid. while this is happening, i will also get flashing on my dash of the hazards and the motor of the heater will give off a grinding noise. i can turn all the equipment off and the car will continue to run. the radio eventually comes back and no other noises occur. this has been occurring for the last year.
2012 dodge grand caravan. consumer writes in regards to ignition shutting down while driving. *ld *tr
Starting september 2016 we noticed our lights would go on for no reason and our doors would open on its own. we initially chalked it up to our key being faulty and replaced the batteries, but every so often it kept happening. in october our battery died, we figured the last time we changed it was when we originally got the van so maybe it was just time and replaced it. then in november our car would not start right away. it started with have to crank about 2 times. especially in the morning after it sat unused for a couple hours, but then throughout the day it was fine. soon though it took 5 times before it would start so we took it into to our mechanic to see if there was an issue. nothing registered on the computer, we figured maybe our fuel lines were clogged and we did a flush. it fixed the starting problem for about a week and then it happened again. we could hear our car cranking, but it would not start and we would have to crank it a couple times. then while driving our car just stopped. everything shut down, mind you while driving downhill at about 45 mph. the wheel locked and luckily my husband was driving, he was able to get to the side. we towed our car to the mechanic who said now the computer is saying the fuel pump is bad. so we changed that. our van worked perfectly...for one day. the next morning it would crank, but not start. after towing to the dealership they stated the next appointment was in january 2017 and our van would be on standby. we are fortunate we did not have to wait that long to have them look at it, but now they stated we needed to replace the battery...again! the problem was our tipm. it basically fried our brand new battery. total cost for replacing just the tipm $1200!!!! that is not including $140 for diagnostics and $140 for a new battery. how can this happen to a car that is only 4 years old? *tr
Vehicle has issues starting. at first i thought it was an intermittent electrical problem but then my vehicle stalled on the freeway. i took it in to be serviced in december 2016 and they could not duplicate the problem and concluded that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. since december the vehicle has stalled while driving on the freeway close to10 times. after much research and reading other people's stories it seems this is an ongoing issue with a defective tipm. there was a recall on dodge caravans made between 2008-2011. this defect is clearly present in other years and models and i find this alarming that dodge/chrysler has done nothing. this is a huge safety concern and as a mom to 3 young children, driving a defective, unreliable and unsafe car is unacceptable.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge grand caravan. while driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off and, in some instances, the vehicle would not immediately start when the ignition key was turned. the cause of the failure was not diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 134,000.
Suspected tipm failure causing multiple electrical issues. 1. 9/1/16 fuel pump died thereby immobilizing vehicle. very unusual for a car with less than 60k miles and not yet 5 yrs old. replaced at dealership, no reimbursement from chrysler corp, total out of pocket cost $826. 2. 10/1/16 multiple electrical issues occurred simultaneously a) power door locks no longer function. therefore over 20mph self locking doors not functional. b) fuel gauge reads completely empty but tank is definitely full. c) parking brake light is constantly illuminated although not applied. d) interior dome lights working intermittently. e) service engine soon indicator light on. for items #1 & #2 vehicle was stationary both times. currently not being driven until further repair research is done as electrical issues of this nature create an unsafe driving environment. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge grand caravan. while driving 40 mph, the driver's side door caught fire. the contact smelled smoke coming from the driver's side door. the fire department extinguished the fire. a fire report was not filed and there were no injuries. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 82,000.
My daughter made an attempt to start the vehicle, one night after community theater rehearsal, to drive home and found the vehicle would not start and she heard random relays chattering throughout the vehicle, had the windshield wipers move, the instrument panel lights flickered on/off along with displaying error codes of: "no fuse" and "no bus". the fuel pump could be heard running, even with the key off and she said the van acted like it was possessed. based on online information, i replaced the crankshaft position sensor, which was listed as a top culprit in the problem and that solved nothing. further research indicated the tipm unit is most likely the cause and we found that her make/model of vehicle is part of a lawsuit for this problem.
My van suddenly shut-down at highway speed (70 mph) with cruise control engaged due to alternator failure which placed my wife, myself and others on the highway in extreme danger of collision. luckily we were in right lane and were able to coast onto the shoulder. the engine would not restart (nothing - no sounds, only bright whiteout of dashboard) - tow was required. sudden sequence of events - charging system light illuminated shortly followed by abs light, electronic stability control light, cruise control would not disengage, engine uncontrollably accelerated / decelerated leading to engine shutting down and dashboard going to total bright whiteout. this alternator failure is identical to nhtsa campaign #14v634000 / fca recall #p60. my grand caravan has under 39,000 miles - 3.6 liter engine / 160 amp alternator same as recall for other dodge models built in same year as my grand caravan. repairs made following day (9/6/16) at tyson chrysler dodge jeep / shorewood, il - alternator failure, removed and replaced alternator.
Bought this van used in january 2016. we had it towed to the shop within a week of purchasing. the dash lights and headlights were flickering while driving. when braking the instrument panel, radio/navigation system and dvd player would shut down and restart itself. they eventually said there was a short in the transmission causing the vehicle to become stuck in 4th gear. it was fine for a month or so, but started doing the same things again. this time the alternator was replaced. again it was fine for a short time. we let the problem continue without taking it to the shop until it started dying. at first it was only dying when stopped at a traffic light or stop sign. once i was not able to immediately restart. then it started dying while driving down the road. both times were instances of deceleration. the dealership said it was recording events of low voltage. after having it for a week, they told us there was a malfunction within the new alternator and put a new one in. the day after we picked it up it started shutting the electronics down again. clearly the alternator did not solve the problem. we also had the alternator tested on our own the first time this happened in january as we thought that could be the problem and the alternator tested fine.
While attempting to turn left onto two lane highway, van surged, all dashboard lights came on and then had almost no acceleration. had to maneuver into center turning lane and then was able to get van into parking lot of store. engine was revving but van would not go above 10mph. van was towed to local dealership tonight. this is the third time this has happened since late december of 2015. main computer (tipm) has been replaced twice already by dealership. dodge did help cover part of repair cost first time, never heard back from them when it happened again in the end of february and just filed third claim / complaint tonight. just wondering if they are waiting for someone in my family to be seriously injured or killed when the vehicle does this before acknowledging that there is an inherent issue with this van or the parts they are repairing it with.
We own a 2012 dodge grand caravan, we have been having issues with the vehicle not starting when you turn the key, all the gauge lights will come on but it will not engage the starting system until you wiggle the key around while in the start position. recently the vehicle stalled while driving around a corner, it was just like turning off the key, the steering locked luckily it was at a low speed and there was no oncoming traffic, the van coasted into the on coming lane. after turn the key off and putting the van back into park it started again, we did not chance driving the vehicle any where but to the dealership, they said it was the win module and it needs to be replaced. after doing some research it is similar to the issues that the 08 - 10 dodge grand caravans are recalled for. the newer models of there vehicles need to have the win systems investigated as well.
Rear evaporator leaking first reported some issue with ac @ 1285 miles when i had no ac in 2012 and again in 2015 so they recharged the system and it lasted until 2016. i went on vacation the next week and the evaporated was making loud noises. the dealer assured me i would not end up stranded in florida and the would repair it again upon my return from vacation which the did all told i still had to pay a 100 dollar deductible. also had to have the weather strip replaced on rear door and side sliding door.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge grand caravan. while driving the vehicle, the door panel started melting and smoke filled the vehicle. the vehicle was pulled over, turned off, and the fuse was disconnected. the smoke dissipated and there were no flames. the contact researched that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v234000 (electrical system). the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the interior of the driver door was severely damaged and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. there were no injuries that required medical attention. the failure mileage was 110,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge grand caravan. while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle lost power without warning. the vehicle was able to be restarted and operated normally. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the failure could not be diagnosed or repaired. the failure occurred three times. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 46,196.
I have owned this van since 05/24/2012. at 30,922 miles and date of 01/06/2014 the positive battery cable corroded through and the van died while driving. the dealer replaced the entire cable under factory warranty. on 04/24/2016 & 62,036 miles the positive battery cable corroded through again and the van died while driving it. it seems that this is going to happen every 2 years. eventually it's going to happen in heavy traffic and someone will get run over by fast rush hour traffic.
