Spontaneous fire in the rear driver side after parked for hours. *dt consumer stated the wires around the fuses weren't burnt. it's all in the back. around the back hatch and driver side in the trunk. it melted the back hatch so that you can't even open it. i'm guessing where it was locking and unlocking on its own it shorted out back there. consumer sold the parts.*jb
Vehicle wipers, wiper fluid, and horn operate separately and independently from human operator input with no response to operators attempts to disengage their operations. incidents happen intermittently at rest or in motion, situations are not able to be anticipated.
The passenger rear sliding door is stuck closed and will not open. the door makes a sound when you press the dome panel button and the key fob buttons but the door is still locked shut. i have attempted to open it from the inside and the outside also by holding the interior manual unlock latch while trying to open the door it won't open. i see this a safety issue as i have children and often times we are carpooling. the kids are not able to get out of the vehicle using all doors accessible to them. when pulling up into the pick up lines at school, i have to let the kids out of the driver side sliding door which is placing them facing moving traffic while getting out and having to walk around the van.
Van started shaking violently while driving. gets worse when i release the gas and when i put on the breaks. the shop has found that both the motor mounts and transmission mounts are broken.they said it is a known problem with this van and it is un safe to drive. also wire harnesses in sliding doors wont stay in the track
I drove my van to town and back, no more than a 10 mile trip. parked it in the usual spot. two hours later, while my husband was in the shower and i was in my bedroom scratching off lottery tickets when the neighbor was yelling about our van being on fire. i looked outside and sure enough my van was engulfed in flames! nothing is left of it but a metal frame. we thought it was going to burn our home down. weird thing is, years ago my supervisor's 2003 caravan was sitting in the parking lot for 7 years when it caught on fire and caught the car next to it on fire and burnt both down! it's too bad because i actually loved my van!
Took my van into jeff wyler eastgate auto mall, in batavia, oh 45103, to have the two recalls fixed on my van and when i call to check up on the progress i get told that the tipm needs replaced and they are wanting to charge me $1,337.60 to fix it before they will even be able to fix my recalls. both recalls are the ignition and the air bags, both of which are caused by the faulty tipm. so what are they repairing and replacing on my recalls knowing that the tipm is the main reason my van has recalls to begin with. the recall for my air bags is as follows: the airbags will either deploy at will or not deploy at all. the letter i got informing me of my recalls stated that it could be in the wiring harness or other places connecting my van to the airbags. the recall for my ignition is as follows: the airbags will either deploy at will or not deploy at all. the letter i got informing me of my recalls stated that it could be in the wiring harness or other places connecting my van to the ignition.
While driving down the highway at approx. 60mph the traction control came on and stuck on it would not shut off. had to get to the side of the road and shut the vehicle off. this has happened at least 3 time in the last month and it only just started, i have owned the vehicle since 2011
After parking my car, after about 5 minutes, the horn started blowing, the wipers, front and rear started running and the washers started spraying. the door locks started locking and unlocking on their own. the car, when started had no dash lights, or gauge function. the drivers electric seat started adjusting itself. radio came on and off on its own. car acted like it was possessed. i had to unhook the battery to make everything stop. please note, the car was parked in my driveway when all of this occurred.
Tipm module malfunctioning. wipers and horn will go off randomly, transmission will disengage at the same time. power steering shuts off as well during episodes while driving! i have had to stop on the freeway with my kids in the car and restart the car.
Frequently will not start-have to raise hood & smack top of black box & then it will start, will go "crazy" while parked with no keys in ignition-horn honks, lights flash on & off, wipers go & fluid sprays-again have to smack box to make it stop. between 5/2/16 & 5/18/16, while driving down the road, four times the motor has shut itself off, horn has begun honking, wipers go, fluid sprays, running lights go off. ***did it twice on 5/18/16! thank god, was going slowly down a side street-again had to raise hood, smack on top of that black box-fuses and sensors must be in there-and it stopped acting crazy and restarted. my husband has been driving it as i refuse to!! very surprised and concerned that there has not been recall as this seems to be a very frequent issue with these vans-wish i had never bought mine!
Car dies without warning. acceleration, steering and braking compromised and dangerous. happens randomly, when stopping, when accelerating when cruising at highway speeds. engine hot and cold. new ignition installed as part of recall program and the problem has gotten worse since the "fix".
My van was sitting in my driveway. i used the key fob to attempt to unlock the doors and instead the horn started honking, wipers going, washer fluid spraying and lights flashing. it did not stop and the doors would not unlock. i had to use the hidden key in the key fob to manually unlock the door to open the hood and disconnect the battery. i reconnected it and attempted to drive it to my mechanic. it stalled after about 50 feet. i ended up being able to drive it to the mechanic four days later. my mechanic said it had 6 recalls on it (which i was not notified of) and needed the tipm replaced, which was not a part of a recall. he said chrysler would not allow him to buy the part and i would have to take it directly to the dealer. he said the part is $780 and does not include labor! i cannot afford this and i need this vehicle! i have three kids! i did some research online and saw that this part on my van was a part of a lawsuit. when they settled the lawsuit, they did not include the 2008 grand caravan. this is the same exact faulty part that is in the other vehicles that are covered by the lawsuit/recall! there is absolutely no reason i should have to pay for any of this.
The van engine shuts down while in drive. this has happened 4 times with in a week. it has shut down completely at an intersection. even the hazards would not come on to show other drivers that i was broke down. i received a notice last year about a recall for the ignition module and i was put an a long wait list to have it fixed. on january 3, 2016 i had the recall taken care of at sherwood service in salisbury, md. i have never had the engine failure happen before having the recall fixed, and now, it is happening. when the engine shut down the last time, my husband who was driving had to call the police to direct traffic around the van until the tow truck got there so he would not be hit! it blocked an intersection for 30 minutes until the van was towed away, when the van got home on the tow truck, it started up with no problem. every time this has happened, the van has been in gear and driving when it completely shuts down and it has either gone over a small bump or been turning. i would also like to add that i had an appointment with sherwood chrysler in salisbury, md today(3/22/21) and they said that they could not find anything wrong with my van and tried send my husband home in the van without fixing the problem! he insisted that they drive it (which they would not do today) to see if it happened again. they still have my van.
My van dies when i'm driving it i lose all power or no breaks no lights i can't even put emergency lights on, this is been going on for almost 2 years have had it in the shop twice has cost me a bundle, i brought it home the other day drove it to the corner and it died again in the middle of the street this is becoming a real safety issue that they can't seem to fix there is a lot of other complaints for this same problem, something needs to be done before i get in wreck and get killed or my children, i am afraid to take the car , you never know when it's going to die sometimes you can drive it a long ways and never die and other times you can barely get out of the driveway but it doesn't matter it will die going slow it will die going fast, i can't afford another car as i am on a fixed income, you need to do something as this car has give me nothing but problems since i had it i bought it and i am scared it three years ago, only 85,000 miles was on it i haven't drove but about even 4000 miles since i have owned it and i'm scared to get on the highway and nobody seems to know how to fix it, i've been driving this car for two years and this is happening to me probably 10 times at a slow speed and probably six times at approximately 60 to 65 miles an hour fast speedsi am tired of paying mechanics for nothing it dies and they say it doesn't die when they take it out for a drive ,well big surprise, because it doesn't give me any warning or tell me when it is going to die either till it does it!! chrysler/dodge/jeep manufacturing company needs to recall and really need to do something about this van because somebody's going to get killed, does somebody really need to get killed before you do something about it, really??? and if they don't i'm going to have to see a lawyer that will help me with my dodge grand caravan sxl , thank you i

Unable to get response from a dealer in connection to recall r03. have been contacting the local dealer for 6 months and always told the parts are not available.
This is in relation to recall 14v-373, for the last 6 months we have been trying to get dodge to take care of it, but every time we call in they never have any stock to take care of us. with as important as this recall is, i'm concerned for the safety of my family, and would like this resolved soon. we have been talking to the larry h. miller chrysler jeep dodge ram at 1800 w 104th ave, denver, co 80234. i called their parts department once to ask if i could go in and pay for a new fob replacement and they said yes, they had stock for that - but somehow they don't have stock to take care of the recall... any assistance would be welcome.
I have contacted lithia to replace the wireless ignition node multiple times and they continue to say they will call me and i still haven't heard from them. my ignition gets stuck and none of the electronics work.
Stationary in park. ignition at times will not turn all the way to off.
My dodge caravan is affected by the 14v-373 recall. according to the dealership i have been on the "waiting list" for replacement parts for several months and it may be another month or two until my name gets to the top of the list. since it has been 7 months since the recall is issued i find it very unacceptable that chrysler is not able to provide parts for this serious issue in a timely manner.
In regards to recall r03-chrysler has known about this recall for at least 1 year, we finally receive the official recall notice in may 2015 to get this issue, which is a huge safety issue fixed. i contact atlantic chrysler jeef in pleasantville nj and they advise me they can not make an appointment they are keeping a list and when parts come in they schedule the appointment for the repair. the dealer currrely has 215 people on this "list" and have only been able to fix 9 vehicles out of the 215. i asked them if they provide loaner vehicles until the part comes in, they told me no. i contacted fca group recall assistance center and they advised me that chrysler is extremely behind on making the parts and shipping them to the dealers. i requested that chryler gives me a loaner since i dont have another vehicle to drive until this safety issue is corrected, beings i transport my children in this vehicle, they advised me they can not do that. she than contacted atlantic chrylser in pleasantvlle nj to confirm they are behind and she had them add me to the 'list"!!! this is a real safety concern and chrysler has had over a year to make and ship the replacement parts, this waiting and not providing us with loaners is just not safe and not fair to all vehicle owners.

My vehicle engine light has been on for over one year and a half. tried fixes over and over and it still comes up again stating "misfiring, coil" etc....... it started affecting the fobiks to my vehical over a year ago and i have been replacing my fobiks or just using them manually since then. i received my vehicle recall and tried to schedule my recall today. the dealship states: they have already scheduled all the parts they currently have for customers which is 9. they also stated that i would have to keep calling in to scheudle an appointment randomly because they will not get a part in for my vehicle until one has been used that would fit my vehicle. but they don't know when and or which part is appropriate for my vehicle so they can't tell me when to call and make an appt. the dealer stated they don't know any other way to assist right now. i will have to continue to call in weekly randomly not know if the part i need is avaible or has already again been scheduled for another customer and the cycle for each part is 14 days. if they only have 9 parts of which they don't know if it is for my vehicle or not how will i know when to call in or if someone beats me to my part or when i will be able to get my vehicle fixed? what a process. and right when it is time to travel in my vehicle. not good at all! need help resolving this issue
On the evening of may 27, 2015, i was unable to start my van. the engine did not turn over at all. the van doesn't use a "regular" key but a win module. i was going to have it towed the next day but the van started for my brother. he jiggled the clutch and explained the vehicle wasn't in gear. the van worked fine the next day on friday, may 29, 2015, until the evening. the engine again wouldn't turn over. i located a shop monday morning, june 1, 2015, that worked on win module systems and it was towed to the shop. unfortunately, due to vacations and illness, the shop was unable to look at my vehicle until monday, june 8, 2015. i was informed by the mechanic that the van's win module was faulty. during the interim, on june 4, 2015, i received a recall notice for my van regarding the win module. it was notice r03. since the recall, the win module isn't available. there isn't even enough to meet the needs of the dealerships (the two local dealerships have been given 20 yet, they have over 300 customers needing the replacement. this is outrageous. it will take months to correct this serious defect. i contacted chrysler and spoke to "joshua". chrysler has offered no assistance to me. i am without a vehicle. i have been advised that chrysler will not provide a car for my use until my vehicle can be fixed nor pay for a rental. that is wrong. in addition, my van, which is inoperable because of their defective part, will have to be towed to a dealership at my expense. that will be several hundred dollars. why? i was not allowed to speak to a supervisor, even though, "joshua" kept saying there was nothing he could do to help me. why do i have to bear these additional expenses when this situation is completely and totally chrysler's fault? why wasn't chrysler required to increase the replacement win modules? this involves people's lives.

I have trouble with the ignition . when trying to start the vehicle sometimes it will just click. the module has been replaced, still have problem. sometimes the key fob sticks and engine keeps trying to start. i then turn the ignition off manually. starter has been replaced already too at my expense. i have replaced the strut and spring assemblies, but i get rough ride still.when turning i get a snapping sound in the steering.
Vehicle stalled on short trip through neighborhood driving at local speed. we took the vehicle to a repair shop for inspection/repair and nothing was found. we have since experienced multiple stalls during low-speed driving scenarios and had the vehicle looked at again with no findings (throttle-body was cleaned). we have most recently experienced a complete non start of the vehicle (no turnover, no dash lights, etc.), tried to start multiple times and nothing, waited a half-hour and it started. similar non starts have happened (estimate 1 to 3 times a year) since we purchased the vehicle in 2008 but it has always started within a short period of time, we've shrugged it off due to infrequency and lack of gravity of the situations (e.g. sitting in garage).
Nothing has happened to the vehicle. we have just been waiting a really long time to have the recalls taken care of. the shop keeps telling us we are on a waiting list. we have been on this list for almost 2 years.

I received a wireless ignition node module defect safety recall from chrysler in july 2014. your data base suggests may 2015 as the date, but it's wrong. this is much older. the original recall was l25 nhtsa 14v-373. the fiat chrysler hotline for recalls has the number as r03. they have failed to correct this defect within a reasonable time, because this is 14 months. a reasonable time might be a few weeks, i think. i call dealers here in the st louis area, they promise to call me when parts are in. i called the recall hotline for fiat chrysler, i complain to my state's attorney general for consumers, and get nowhere. all i hear is "we can't get the parts." well, i know many, many model cars are in this recall; not only gm, but jeep, dodge, etc. but i can't help it -- i am the one who is in trouble for the faulty ignition and fobik, and this package has fiat chrysler's name on it. it's time to twist their arms really hard. this is safety. the safety recall hotline at chrysler says this is their part, and they're not doing it, and i quote, "i don't know what to tell you." well, tell them....... i think i should be given a car to drive that is safe until they can do this required recall. or they can refund my car price and the price of my lift equipment installed for a scooter lift in the rear of the car. i've had it. waiting and hoping are not getting us drivers anywhere. they've got to do something and now before someone else dies.
I am referencing safety recall r03/14v-373. i have been asking the local dealer jack key motor co of alamogordo, nm for this recall to be fixed for almost 2 years. the parts manager keeps telling me that the manufacturer is unable to send out any, as though they are on back order. i am not sure where the problem lies, but this is not a timely remedy for a recall that "could cause unintended engine shutoff and increase the risk of a crash."
The ignition fobik gets stuck in the socket forcing the car to stay in acc and exhausting the battery. the car can be restarted when this happens and after repeated attempts usually releases the fobik. this often involves forcibly shoving the transmission lever from d to p. i believe this is related to the l25 and r03 recalls as sometimes you can hear an electronic noise when the fobik is locked or released. my primary complaint is that i've called the dealer 4 times or so over the last year since l25 came out asking to fix the problem by fulfilling the recall. each time the dealer, rainier dodge, says they will order parts and get back to me, but never does. i will be calling again this week after problems over the weekend. i'm very dissatisfied with chrysler's response to this potentially serious problem.
We bought this van new in april of 2008 and in august 2008 and with 16,000 miles i had to replace the brake rotors pads and one caliper. then two months later i had to replace the rear brakes which included the rotors, pads, and calipers. in late 2009 i have to replace both front and back brake systems do to failure. now it is september of 2014 and after replacing the brakes on both front and back axles 5 times there needing to be replaced again. i have taken the van to our local dodge dealer and was told it's just hard driving. i had to replace the rear evaporator at 89,000 along with rubber heater lines that you can only buy as a set at over $120.00. now the right rear door can only be opened from the inside and the door locks only work sometimes. went out 09-17-14 to move the van to my garage to work on it and all of the lights went out and the horn went off along with the wipers and wiper fluid pump. how long before someone is killed before they fix these issues. this is my last chrysler product after owning 5 good ones. this is do to there inability or negligence in fixing these problems. *tr
