We have classified the 5 complaints from 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan about VISIBILITY into the following categories.
2008 dodge grand caravan v6 3.8l engine, 75k miles, vehicle has rear ac/heater blower option. the y heater hose, dealer part 4677603ak, in the engine compartment start leaking coolant at the rubber hose connection & the y pvc, coolant was dripping on the exhaust shield back of the engine close to the double wall. at that time i have been in slow traffic for at least 30 min when i noticed a burning smell coming from engine compartment. i shut off the engine, but coolant was still keep dripping for a while, had the hood open and tried to vent out engine compartment preventing a fire under the hood. home i replaced the bad heater hose with a new one purchased from napa auto parts, part no 16599. *tr
Turned on ignition and while driving down the road the warning lights all flash on and all gauges go to 0 and wipers are going as well, with the wipers turned off..also the front windows don't go up or down.. *tr
I have noticed that the rear a/c blows hot air while it is set on the a/c position. at that time my kids; 2 years old, 5 years old where apparently sweating and did not know it was not normal while the 12 years old kept repeatedly saying it is warm here at the back. i inspected why it is warm and noticed that the rear ac blows warm air on a/c position while the front a/c is blowing cold air. first, i thought it is the rear a/c blend door but it is the "expansion valve" it has visible corrosion and it is located under the rear right wheel fender where it is subjected to dirt, salt and road debris...i think dodge/chrysler needs to fix these design issue since this could be a fatal issue if i did not know it and the older kid never complaint about it. since then, i have only used the front ac and chrysler charge a fortune to correct the issue. this is very dangerous situation if you are traveling on a long drive. it is the equivalent of leaving your child in a hot car on a warm days of summer specially in july. i hope we can consider this to be a recall. *tr
On 4 occasions our 2008 dodge grand caravan has gone into a mode where the lights flash, the horn honks, the windshield wipers come on, washer fluid squirts out, and the doors lock. when moving, it also appears to downshift to lower gear. once it starts, it appears the only way to stop it is to let it run its course which can take up to 10 minutes (disconnecting the battery did not make it stop). during the time it is happening the key fob does not work. of the 4 times it has happened, it has happened twice while driving and twice while sitting still (once with key in ignition and once without). i have it at the dealer and so far in 2 days they have not found anything wrong. there are literally hundreds of other people with 2008 dodge grand caravans who have this exact same or similar issue. this is a potentially dangerous issue if you happen to be moving when it happens. *tr
While driving or parked & turned off with no one near the van, the engine starts, the horn starts blaring, the wipers turn on full blast, the wiper fluid shoots out, and lights wont work! at first, we could disconnect battery or relay & it would stop. the last time, we had to disconnect alternator. this is a major safety issue! *tr
2008 dodge grand caravan design flaw causes lines to corrode due to exposure to the elements causing the air conditioning to fail. the failure of the air conditioning due to the design flaw also causes the vehicle to have not window defogging capabilities, thus impairing the drivers ability to see the road. instead of having the rear and front windows defogged using the ac vents you must stop and wipe with a cloth or just cease driving altogether; this is especially true during while operating the vehicle in the rain. the design flaw causing the air conditioning to fail also poses a health risk to those traveling within the vehicle in extreme temperatures such as are now being experienced throughout the northeast. *tr
Air conditioning blowing hot air. since 09/10/09, i have had the air conditioner repaired five times.the last repair on o5/21/13 i'm tired of the expense that i can't afford anymore being a retired 73 yr. old widow. i put minimum miles on the van . the mileage to date(06/18/13) is only 29247. *tr
2008 dodge grand caravan. consumer states there have been five recalls for her vehicle and had problems before the recalls were announced. she would like to terminate her lease early. *kb in june 2009, the vehicle needed new front brake pads and rotors at only 15,000 and again in august 2010. in the spring, the vehicle had no air condition. the dealer informed the consumer the part was manufactured too short and froze during the winter, which caused fluid to leak out. the problem was resolved after 3 weeks. in june 2010, the same hose ruptured and again the consumer was left with no a/c. the radiator cap had to be repaired which was why the consumer had to keep adding coolant. the washer fluid sensor was not working and needed to be replaced. in august 2010, the power sliding door stopped functioning for days. when the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, they were unable to find a problem. however, two months later a recall was issued. the consumer stated she also experienced power failures with the vehicle. each time the problem occurred the engine would run, but nothing else in the vehicle worked, such as the windows, locks, windshield wipers and interior lights etc. the problem was sporadic and each time the consumer went to the dealer, they were unable to find any problems. *jb
Just after parking van the electrical system went crazy. the front wipers started wiping, the wiper fluid deployed, the horn sounded. i turned off car and removed the key. everything continued to run. at a loss i got back in, turned it on and drove it out of the garage where the noise wouldn't be so loud. again i removed the key. i popped the hood, thinking if all else fails, i could pull the battery. i saw the fuse box by the battery (i have since looked up that it is the tipm) and i smacked it hard with my palm. the car shut up. several months later it did a similar behavior, again while not moving. still several months after that it did it again, this time while i was driving. wipers, horn, washer fluid whole deal. i managed to pull over and safely stop the car. before i could get out the car stopped its behavior. since then i have also had other electrical problems, horn attempting to sound on its own, but no wipers, transmission in "limp mode" where it won't get out of second gear, and front blower motor intermittently running/not running. often stopping car and opening door, and restarting car fixes it, but more recently not so much. i reported first incident to dealer, but they found nothing. i have reported further incidents and now that i am out of warranty they are advising me it is the tipm (fuse box) and replacement cost is $800 and it may not fix my problem. because it is intermittent they claim not to be able to diagnose themselves. i would hate to have the wiper horn fluid combo happen on the highway. can be dangerous. *tr
During the winter last january 2009, i drove from kenosha wi to minneapolis mn. it was the new year weekend and on the trip back, the front windshield became caked with frost on the bottom. mostly outside. the defrosters did not clear the bottom 6 - 8 inches of the windshield. this causes two problems, one the frost starts to build on the inside and begins to drip and there is water on your dash, second because the outside is caked your wipers begin to freeze up. even if you clean it recurs quickly. the wipers being caked causes them not to work well clearing they just produce water streaks across your windshield, your vision becomes more and more obstructed because they can;t work. i called my chrysler dealer and he said they would address the next time i come in. i cam in this fall because i wanted to be able to show them it happening. they now state that all the dodge vans are like that and they cannot address it. i believe this is a safety hazard and should be addressed. *tr
