We have classified the 2 complaints from 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan about VISIBILITY into the following categories.
I purchased this vehicle used in 2011 and about three months later i took into the dealer for an oil change and they said i need to change out my rack/pinion/steering since it had a small leak. now i have a larger leak underneath the van wherever i park. i checked myself to see that the small plastic clamps have come loose and transmission fluid was leaking out. that did not fix it since it is now leaking in the front passenger side. also i have a sunroof that leaks when we wash the van and when it rains, i have cleaned out the drains but the seal is worn down and i would have to purchase the entire assemble to fix the problem at $500 for the part does not include labor? i am happy with the vehicle other than the lemon part of the axle going bad. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that the driver side windows malfunctioned. the switch that controlled each window was inoperable and only the master switch on the front driver side window was able to activate the other windows. the contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic for a diagnostic test. the mechanic checked to see if the switch on the driver side door had any power and it did not. the power window switch caused other components in the vehicle to malfunction as well. the contact replaced the switch but that did not remedy the problem. the mechanic then replaced the esm module but to no avail. the contact also stated that the power locks had malfunctioned, making it very difficult to enter and exit the vehicle. the contact did not take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection or repairs. the failure mileage was 85,000. kmj
Back rear window imploded for the second time(first time 2009, second time 2010), nobody seems to have an answer for why this happens other than it was cold and snowy outside so the weather must have caused this to occur, (that is what they say) my family was in the van in the driveway getting ready to leave so i know for a fact that "nothing" went thru the window just a major defect of dodge. numerous issues with this van starting when van had 5000 miles, air bag sensor on, sliding doors do not work properly, loud sound from engine, tie rods need replaced for third time, control arm broke, locks make a whiny sound, check service engine light on told 3 times that we needed new spark plugs . really at 30,000 miles. we changed them, light still on today. after an inspection of van now dealer sates that the alternator, water pump, serpentine belt, egv valve, valve gasket, all needs replaced and the light on had nothing to do with spark plugs, go figure. i have sent dealership and chrysler letters in regards to my safety concerns. this would be my fourth time calling chyrsler about major issues. they lack customer service and nothing ever done. we purchased new and van is now 5 years old with same and new problems since 5000 miles, now has 77,000. i will not be purchasing a dodge van again!! *tr
We had a snow storm on 2/6/10. after the snow fall my husband moved our 2006 grand caravan sxt from the driveway to the street to clean the driveway. while talking to a neighbor the rear glass popped and shattered into a million pieces. there were no cars that passed and may have kicked up debris causing this incident. also the glass was clear of snow and ice. the only thing i can think of is that the car was parked in the shade and then my husband parked it in the sun. perhaps the cold weather caused this? i called dodge to see if there was a recall but there was none.
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the rear window (vent window) on the left side blew off of the vehicle and almost caused a crash to occur. prior to the failure, a passenger noticed that the window looked as if it were open although it was closed. he took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that they could not assist him with a free repair. the manufacturer has not been notified. the vehicle has not been repaired. the current and failure mileages were 43,464.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. while driving in severe rainy conditions, the windshield wipers would operate intermittently until finally they failed completely. the driver was able to reach his destination without a crash. she contacted the manufacturer. she was advised that her vehicle identification number was excluded from recall campaign id number 06v067000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer:motor). no repairs were made. the current and failure mileages were under 45,000. updated 1/11/09 *cn updated 01/13/10.*jb
My husband was driving our 2006 dodge grand caravan on the highway when the driver's-side, rear window blew into the car. it concerns us because, as a parent, one of my children could have been sitting in the third row and would have been seriously injured. thankfully it did not cause an accident to which the actual cause (of a "broken window") would have never been realized. i am not sure whether this is a safety defect or an anomaly, but i would like my complaint to be recorded based upon these concerns. the window was replaced, and is not available as the window shattered. *tr
At 3851 miles on my 2006 dodge grand caravan, the motor on the windshield wipers suddenly stopped working, in the middle of a torrential downpour, which was immediately followed by a burning electrical smell. i was able to, very slowly and carefully, drive the car back home. *jb
