We have classified the 2 complaints from 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan about EQUIPMENT into the following categories.
I've had three brake line failures in 2 years (the first incident was on 3/31/2006; this was the brake line that was originally on the vehicle when i purchased the car, the second was on 11/22/2006; this was a replacement part which i ordered from the dealership). the brake line assembly on the left rear wheel breaks and leaks fluid which causes the brakes to fail when pressure is applied to the brake pedal. i have had the brake assembly replaced with a new one at each occurrence. now, i have had another brake assembly failure. it will take 5 business days for the new one to arrive. i will keep the old one when the car is repaired. *tr
2003 dodge grand caravan front brake rotors have been replaced twice. i replaced the oem set with a new aftermarket set. i also replaced the aftermarket set with another set of aftermarket rotors. *tr
The rack and pinion steering is leaking on my 2003 dodge grand caravan. this issue could cause the seals to blow out and lose power steering causing an accident. this will be the second rack i have had to replace one at 58,000 and now at 91,000. *tr
My 2003 new dodge caravan had the transmission replaced x3, air conditioner replaced x1 then repaired again x 2, replaced starter, wheel bearing, tie rod & continues to have problems. these major problems started when the car had only 30, 000 miles and is only at 60, 000 miles. the dealer nor chrysler corporation will replace or refund this car stated it does not fall under lemon law. multiple time lost from taking in this car to be fixed along with extra money spent to get rentals while this car was in the shop. *jb
The power steering hose failed. the power steering leaked and replaced under recall 037. *bf the vehicle began smoking and had no power steering. the power steering hose blew off the rack clamp was not installed properly. shortly thereafter, the garage was smoke-filled and a pool of fluid was on the floor. the remote was inoperative. *sc
I had the clockspring in my 2003 dodge grand caravan replaced (after the warranty expired) somewhere around 40,000 miles. the clockspring caused my steering wheel to lock up when turning a corner. the dealer repaired the clockspring along with a related airbag component they said was also needed. this repair work was done at the dealership in july of 2004. on september 29th,2004 i was involved in a collision with a woman who ran a red light. i was in my dodge grand caravan with my 4 children (14,10,6,and 5). there was extensive frontal damage to my car and my car went through a chain link fence following the impact. myself and my children were injured in the accident and i am curious as to why this airbag (that i just had replaced) did not go off during the impact.
Vehicle stalled, several times, while in gear at stop light. it would immediately start up, but would stall at the next light. also, stalled once while in "park". dealership retrieved vehicle and claimed it was the crank sensor and replaced it. the same evening, after driving the vehicle over a hundred miles out of town, the vehicle stalled again, but immediately restarted. the next day, the vehicle stalled again, several times, and restarted. however, it did finally stall and would not restart. vehicle was towed to closest dealership.*ak
