We have classified the 3 complaints from 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan about EQUIPMENT into the following categories.
Air conditioner has leaks in several locations that resulted in the failure of the compressor and dryer. it is unacceptable for a closed system like this to develop leaks . *ak
Tensioner assembly replaced 4 times within 12 month period. 3 of within 60 days. as a result the shaft and pulley on the power steering was bent requiring replacement. dodge is aware of the issue and provided a part to hold the belt onto the tensioner. it did not work. the belt has been replaced 6 times under 70k miles. mopar part warranties have been used, however, $100 deductibles for an extended warranty has been collected 3 separate times. fortuneatly, to date, no injuries have occurred.
My wife was involved in an accident on a 4 lane road and was going approximately 40-45 mph when she hit another vehicle with almost no braking involved. neither the drive or passenger airbag deployed. this was a major selling point when we purchased this vehicle since we would be using it to transport our family. if these do not work then the chrysler corporation should do everything to the best of it's ability to ensure that anyone that buys their products should get what they have paid for. *jb
Last night my transmission blew up for the 2nd time. the first time the van was a year old. this time i am past my warranty, but the brakes locked up on me & 2 of my children almost ended up in the pompton water falls. the dealership and manufacturer basically told me "oh well--your on your own." this should not have happened twice in three years.. this is a dangerous situation and i hope you can help prevent this from happening to others... my van was meticulously cared for... this should not have happened!! thank you for any help you can give me.. *la
My infinity radio system started losing its time and when i shut the car off it shut the radio and the next thing i knew the radio/cd/cassette player was dead with a cd still in it. i brought it to my mechanic who said with this make/model and year van this was very common for the radio to die. he said they had numorous people complain and have to buy new radios. this is a 3 yr old van i should not have to be replacing the radio in it. of course i cannot even get a comparable system without spending at least $350.00 i think if this is happening to dodge grand caravans a lot then there should be a recall and the manufacturer should replace the system.*ak
I had the brakes on my vehicle repaired twice. the first time my car had approx 40,000 miles and i was told it was due to the way i drive the car. not more than 6 months later the brakes starting vibrating again and i took it back to burlington dodge - were they told me, once again, it was due to the way i drove the car and there was nothing they could except replace them again. my most recent problem was the air conditioning totally malfunctioned. i saw smoke come out of the dash and when i took the car in for repair they told me the entire system had completely failed and i had to put in a new a/c. *jb
I have been having a problem with my transmission leaking from the transmission coolant hose. vehicle was still under warranty, took to dodge dealer and they replaced hoses and clamps, 1 month later leaking again and they stated that it was probably a bad part. they replaced them again. 1 year later problem returns and now they want to charge me to replace the hoses, the reason this happened according to them was the hose clamps they used. now they have changed the clamps, this should not be my responsibility to pay for since they are changing a manufacturer's part. this should be a recall. *jb
Brakes on our 2000 grand caravan go out on us about once every 3-6 months since we purchased it brand new in july 2000. master cylinder has been replaced more than once, brakes have been bled, abs pump has been replaced, and we are now leaking fluid and ready to have it serviced again. this is a family vehicle that i don't always feel safe driving my two small children in. we only have 17,800 miles on the van, i wonder if we drove it more often if we would be in the shop even more frequently.three times i have gone to pull out of my driveway and have almost ended up in the neighbor across the streets yard. the dealership where the van was purchased has not done anything to accomodate us and won't even give us a good deal on a trade-in so that we can get rid of it.
When driving air conditioner operates poorly. *ak
