We have classified the 50 complaints from 2015 Dodge Durango about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
While driving at highway speed without warning multiple error messages were displayed followed by instrument cluster shutting off completely. windshield wipers started without command. turn signals and lights would not work. functions slowly started to return however traction control remained disabled.
Rear hatch light fills with water and the light stops working. only fix is to replace the very expensive light assembly. safety issue as rear light stops functioning.
The tailgate light gets filled up with water creating a short and burning our led lights in the tail light. this is a known issue and the dealership charges over $1000 for the light and the time spend replacing it. fcu should pay for the faulty design and replace all the tailgate lights for free.
The liftgate tail light assembly allows water to seep inside, pooling in the lighting assembly. this led to the rear lights shorting out and failing completely. after researching, this is a common problem that dodge continues to ignore; only offering to install a new assembly for the bargain price of $1200-1600 so that i will be visible from the rear to other drivers on the roadway.
The led back tail lights are not properly sealed, so water can leak into them and short out the lights, and cause electrical shortage.have tried to work with the dealership, and the chrysler corp., but since the vehicle is a 2015 model it is out of warranty. i feel this was a bad seal right out of the factory.
Car will try to start but won't turn all the way over. it does it intermittently. i've taken it to mark dodge and 2 other auto shops and no one can find the issue. it has done it over 15 times now
The "racetrack" taillight system has a systemic issue with water infiltrating the enclosed sealed led taillight system. this caused portions of the taillights to burn out and cause lower visibility than intended. warranty companies consider this a "serviceable" part like normal bulbs, brakes, tires, etc. the problem is that this "serviceable" part is an all enclosed unit and not a simple bulb replacement. you have to replace the entire panel at a cost of nearly $1000!!! or just drive with the limited safety of a fully functioning taillight system. this seems like a safety issue and once one section goes out the rest usually follow. this design flaw should not be considered a serviceable part and fc should be made to remedy the problem and fix this issue at their expense.
Water is leaking into the racetrack tail light causing the damage and making the car less visible.
My rear racetrack lighting is not working. water has gotten into the light and now has gone completely out. truck is garaged kept and never been in accident. truck just hit 50k miles. please help as my tag lights aren't working either
Racetracklight tailgate has water in it which burnt out light. warranty not covering. major issue with all durango's with race track tailgate light.
Water and moisture get into the rear light strip and causes led light failure. you cant fix the problem, just buy a new light assembly at $1000 and pray that doesnt get water in that one. problem causes vehicle to fail inspection and poses a huge safety problem.
I recently noticed still water inside my rear center tail lamp on the lift gate while parked before leaving home, that wouldn't leave, as a result of this a portion of the lamp had went out and no longer worked, eventually the entire lamp stopped working now causing a safety concern as i am now less visible to those behind me and causing me to be ticketed several times from law enforcement because of the lamp being out which is now turning this into a $2000 plus problem. i have done my research and have learned that thousands of other durango owners from 2014 and 2015 are having this same issue and this needs to be a recalled part. i also have younger siblings that use my truck from time to time to travel to work and school and a grandmother who drives my vehicle at times and i can no longer let them drive my vehicle because i don't want them to destroy their driving record with constant tickets because of the lamp being out nor my grandmother or possibly getting into an accident due to the difficulty of being seen from behind now
For a few months now, the bottom right hand section of the led 'racetrack' tail lights on the trunk of my durango has been burned out. apparently, this is coming from water filling up in the leds due to weather stripping to keep water out failing too early. this normally wouldn't be a huge concern since tail lights can be replaced, however chrysler/dodge/fiat has made it entirely too expensive for anyone in their right mind to even try to afford a replacement. the leds cannot be easily replaced, therefore you have to replace the entire tail light/brake light portion on the trunk. on top of that, this part must come with the back up camera, you can't buy the part without the back up camera. the cost for this is 1,085 usd which is absolutely absurd, and that does not include the cost of labor as well. the brake lights of any vehicle are a huge safety function of the vehicle, both during the day in dark foggy/rainy conditions as well as anytime at night. chrysler/dodge/fiat must either make this incredibly cheap to replace, or put in a recall to be replaced at the companies expense. this could cause property ...
Water is entering taillight unit causing electronics to short. water is entering due to a poorly designed seal on the top back of taillight.
Rear tail light housing center section in the lift gate has water intrusion which has caused led lights to short out. noticed lights out and water in housing while vehicle was parked but smelled the order of electrical smoke while driving.
