We have classified the 439 complaints from 2011 Dodge Durango about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
My wife was driving the vehicle when the battery light came on. a few minutes later all the lights on the dash came on, the wipers came on, and the car shut off. luckily she was able to get to the side of the road, but the car was locked, and nothing worked. i tried to jump start the car but it would not work. i replaced the battery and drove it home 3 minutes away, and the battery light came back on. i could smell a burning wire smell, and the battery and alternator were very hot. i read online about numerous problems with the 160 amp alternator, and that many had been recalled. i called the dodge dealership and they said my vehicle does not have any open recalls. this seems to be a major safety problem. i replaced the alternator myself and the next day the battery light came on again. at this point i am not sure what is wrong, but have read online that many people had this issue and it blew either the fuse panel, or a pcm. this is the 3rd electrical issue i have had with this vehicle between 0 and 57,000 miles.
Passenger side continues to blow hot air no mater what the setting is on. no cold air will come out when it is switched to air conditioning and heat temp cannot be regulated.
Tipm problem. all sorts of electrical problems especially the car alarm going off in the middle of the night. i've read complaints regarding this online and nothing seems to force chrysler to remedy this. the repair for this is at least $1,000. which is an outrage since chrysler knows this is a defective part. my car has less than 33,ooo miles. please do something!this has gone on ever since a sun visor recall repair.
2011 dodge durango citadel (63,365 miles) just like many others i'm have the same problems with my vehicle . my wife had just picked my children up from school and just as she starts to pull off the dash lights started going haywire and shut down. i immediately showed up to evaluate the situation, open the hood of the car to a smell of burning wires. i then called to have the car towed to my home. i got on the line (internet) and search around only to find out that many others been having these problems with this same year/model car . this vehicle is putting families lives in danger and there's not enough being done about these problems. *tr
Very unclear how my durango was not included in the mass recall of alternators that immediately stop working and start to burn. mine did just this, stopping my vehicle in the middle of traffic and almost causing an accident. i also smelled burning and there was smoke coming from the engine. it was towed to a nearby auto shop whereupon the alternator was replaced but the vehicle still did not operate. it was then towed to ganley chrysler dodge and that alternator removed and another put in. the vehicle also incurred costly repairs to the computer (pcm) system failing due to the alternator. i do not feel this is a normal wear and tear issue at 85k miles. i have called chrysler and they refuse to assist, claiming i should not have had it repaired before calling them. the dealership never gave me an indication that i should proceed this way.
Dodge/chrysler/jeep said that they will not include my car in the p60 recall because my car's alternator was not supposed to be apart of the recall. this is the recall in which some of the dodge durangos have a faulty alternator that eventually fails, unexpectedly and may cause damage to other parts of your abs, ecm, pcm, battery or other parts of your electrical system. on dec. 26th, 2016, i was driving when i began to smell an electrical-like, smell. we found out that my alternator failed and the next day, it began smoking and shooting sparks while at the mechanic's shop. i call dodge, asking about the recall (after the mechanic that we hired discovered that many other durango owners experienced the same issues) and dodge said that my car didn't have the correct ampherage of alternator to be included (the recall includes 2011 dodge durangos with a 3.6 l engine and 160 amp alternators only). however, the alternator that the mechanic removed and replaced was the correct # of amps for the recall (160 amps), even though the factory spec sheet for my truck (which was read to me by a staff member at dodge corporate's recall line) says that it should have a different # of amps (my truck is supposed to have a 220 amp alternator on it, but when the alternator failed, the mechanic removed a 160 amp alternator off of it). now i have about $1500 worth of repairs for this truck and no one is taking responsibility. my truck either has a 160 amp alternator that the prior owner of my truck put on it which subsequently created the p60 recall problem or dodge screwed up and put the wrong alternator on (a 160, instead of a 220) or the wrong info about my alternator is included on the factory spec sheet. *tr
Check engine light came on when customer went to start vehicle made a tipping noise when wipers turned on themselves. drained first battery (indicator warning lights concern). tipm shorted internal to asd relay power pcm shorted on grounded side to tipm.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge durango. while driving approximately 30 mph, the headlights flickered rapidly and the instrument panel illuminated. in addition, the power seized. the vehicle restarted after several attempts. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage and vin were unknown.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge durango. shortly after the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 14v530000 (electrical system), the vehicle stalled more than once. the contact was uncertain if the remedy from the recall caused a failure. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 112,000.
This is the 3rd time since august 2016- so 3 to 4 months timeframe- my dodge durango has died on me while driving. this means a complete loss of steering, lights, power, the vehicle is completely dead. this is a safety issue. i can barely make it to the side of the road without crashing. an investigation needs to be opened up regarding this. they have recalls against the alternator but are not honoring them. *tr
Vehicle has had campaign 14v530000 (and all other recalls and powertrain tsb's) performed. while driving on highways and rural roads, engine shuts off abruptly, causing loss of steering assist and only a couple brake actuations before brake assist is lost (occurred before tipm campaign, still shuts off after campaign). typically occurs during coasting or mild braking when preparing to enter a turn (does not matter if right or left turn). no "check engine," alternator, or other warning lights appear on the dash (as they would if the engine stalled) -- it is as if ignition switch were immediately turned off. occasionally when engine shuts off, the instrument cluster gives a forward collision warning disabled warning (but the fcw does not beep, alert, signal, etc. before the engine shuts off, and there was no obstacle to set off or block the fcw). since engine seems to shut off, there are no codes active or stored after the engine shuts off. repeated trips to dealership, and they can not diagnose, or cause the issue to occur. *tr
Takata recall thursday i was on my way to work and why i was driving my durango the battery light came on and everything kept blinking and mess up. why i was on the highway the truck automatic shut down. i thought it was my battery so 4 people gave a jump. the cables wires start burning melting off. it happen four times. i almost lost my life on the highway. now they trying to make me come out of pocket for something the factories mess up on. i don't thinks this is fare. the dodge durango is dangers. i love the truck but i wouldn't purchase it if i knew it was going to give me problems or kill

We were driving down the highway and our battery light turned on i immediately exited and since the dealer i purchased it at was just about a mile away i drove it there as soon as we hit the corner about a block from the dealer my dash started flashing my seat belt warning lights started flashing radio display went out park assist went out windshield wipers came on ac started blowing hot air the dealer said it was my alternator and battery paid 1500 to get it fixed drove it home and 2 hours later went to run some errands and had the same exact problems happened except this time it completely shut down power steering good thing i wasn't on a busy street or it could of been pretty bad had to get my car towed home since dealer was closed now monday morning service department sent a tow truck for my vehicle let's see how much this costs me now
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge durango. while driving, the contact observed an abnormal odor coming from the vehicle and the check engine and battery indicators illuminated. it was diagnosed that the alternator and battery failed. the vehicle was repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 75,682. updated 01/26/2017*ct updated 07/06/18*jb
On no 1, 2016 when i was going at work, i was driving on west park hwy (houston, tx), and suddenly my car stopped working in the middle of the road, all the system has stopped working, and the front car started smoking (burn, & fire). and i survived by the grace of god. i call the towing services so as to move the car from the hwy to my house. and i can't really tell you what exactly happened. but the constancy is, my car is not drivable until now. and my insurance company sent some expert so as to assess the risk, and they told me what happened is the defect of the constructor (chrysler group llc), because there are more than 300 hundred cases of complaints similar with my explanations. and from this day to now, i am traumatized by this incident. it is the reason that i am writing to you so as to solve this hazard or main issue. and actually my car is parked at home (15770 bellaire blvd, #2107, houston, tx77083). my insurance claim number is: state farm: 53-0079-5s5. n.b.: i also attached the towing receipt issued by the towing services.
My 2011 dodge durango, 3.6l/v6 with 180amp alternator - alternator rapidly failed while driving ("in motion"), causing complete shut down of the vehicle and disabling both the battery and the control module requiring them both to be replaced. this complete shut down caused the abs and steering to lock up and all my electrical including my flashers to not work. this is a major safety concern and is identical to the p60 recall of this same vehicle built with the 160amp alternator which is virtually the same as my vehicle. i was never informed of the p60 recall and believe that my vehicle and all others like it should not be excluded from this recall! fortunately i was not driving in a location with high speeds or heavy traffic at that moment but had it failed only minutes later someone could have been seriously injured or killed because of this design flaw. clearly this is a major safety issue and just because the alternators are slightly different amp then that of the current recall those vehicles should not be excluded from the recall. i have seen numerous similar complaints from other owners with the 180amp alternator. please contact me if there are any questions regarding this information, including any further details regarding my receipts for repairs. *tr
Safety issue on my 2011 dodge durango. while driving home after work late one night, the durango started acting up like it was possessed. the lights would go on and off, the wipers went on and wouldn't shut off, seats went back and forth while driving!, radio, heat, ac. i was in traffic and finally managed to move over to a secure location out of harms way no sooner did i pull off the side of the road then the dodge completely died. i had to coast down a hill. tried to turn it over and nothing. no lights no radio no nothing. it was dead. had to have it towed to the dealership. the dealer claimed it was the battery, installed a new one and sent me on my way. fast forward to less than 2 weeks later- same problem. driving to drop off my 5 year old and it starts acting up again completely possessed. how is this safe? i made it to work with it going crazy. at lunch, i went to start it and check it out. dead. brand new battery dead. 400 bucks down the drain- when that wasn't the problem. not to mention the 200 bucks to tow. i brought it to a little shop around the corner and they couldn't find the problem and towed it back to the dealer. and there it sits. no one can figure out what is wrong with it over there. it is really pathetic. so now add'l tow charges-$200, no vehicle to get back and forth to work and child's stroke therapists, and had to break down and pay for a rental. what a joke thanks dodge. they are well aware of the tipm issues and refuse to recall any of their vehicles. this is a huge huge safety issue. everything just dies.. the engine the brakes don't work nothing. *tr
While driving on the nj turnpike aprox 75mph 10/25/2016 the battery light came on. suv begin to lose power and tachometer was revving high. made it to my local tire shop upon pulling there was smoke coming from under the hood. the alternator blew up and a small fire started. upon replacing the alternator the suv still will not start. *tr
Pulled into a shopping mall had a weird burning smell shut off car lifted hood a lot of smoke coming out of engine compartment car completely dead had it towed to shop they inform me that alternator, battery dead. after fixing they find out ecm is fried! now come to find out there's a recall on the alternator! i was just at dealer fixing the fuel thing that was recalled cause car died then too had to have it towed! why didn't dealer fix alternator thing too when i was there now i have to pay $1500 to fix??
I was at the mall pulled into parking lot smelled a burning smell so i turned off engine and opened hood smoke started coming out no fire though tried to start vehicle again car completely dead. so had car towed of course was in parking structure and structure was so small no tow truck could fit inside so had to call a mobile mechanic to come out and he bypassed something to get car started drove car to outside parking lot so car could be towed. mechanic said alternator and battery fried. so replaced them. come to find out that pcm was also fried so need new brain for car! looked on website dodge/cryseler have recall on alternator....you guessed it not on my vehicle though!! there is a recall on 2011 dodge durango alternators but not on mine yet my alternator goes out for no apparent reason!! ridiculous
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge durango. while driving at approximately 60 mph, the battery warning indicator illuminated and a burning odor entered the vehicle. an excessive amount of smoke emitted from underneath the hood. the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road. after a while, the contact drove the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the alternator caught fire and would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 97,000.
Upon starting my 2011 dodge durango i noticed a whining noise coming from my engine. drove around the parking lot for another for a minute to see if the noise would stop, i parked the car turned it off and started it again the noise was still there. i drove the car towards my home, the noise stopped about 5 minutes later the battery light came on. i took the car to the nearest auto store for them to test the battery. upon opening the hood of my car smoke came pouring out with an awful burning smell. i was advised that i was not to drive my car that it was cause more damage due to the alternator being very hot to the touch and smoking. my vehicle was fixed, the problem was the alternator, my vehicle has 72,000 miles. this is the 4th major issue with my vehicle.
This morning i started my car as usual to take my kids to school. i got about 1/2 mile from my house and could smell an electrical burning type smell. i pulled over but could see nothing. the car was still running. i proceeded about a mile to the school with the smell still throughout the car. just before i pulled back to my house going about 35 miles per hour my engine light came on, followed by my battery light. the radio went all haywire as well. i was able to pull up to the front of my house. i shut the car off and had my husband come take a look. he opened the hood and smoke came out. it smelled very hot like there were wires on fire. i tried to start the car again and nothing. i can't even get my key out of the ignition. he touched the alternator and burned himself. i had to call roadside assistance to have it towed to the repair shop. it sat for 2 hours waiting and when the tow driver came he could still smell the burning and when he tried to touch the alternator he still couldn't said it was very hot. he tried to jump the car and sparks came shooting off the battery terminals also. i have noticed many complaints with this same issue and no recall???? only the 180 amp alternators??? last year my car had to sit for 4 months because of the tipm recall and no parts available. now this! i am also contacting dodge/chrysler to report this issue as it should be a recall on all alternators.
There is a known recall for the 2011 dodge durango with the 160 amp alternator. we have a 180 amp alternator and experienced the exact same problems as the recalled 160 amp. our vehicle caught fire after a short drive. chrysler refuses to include the 180 amp alternator into the existing recall. a short internet search will reveal countless other victims.
Vehicle quit with no warning in the middle of the interstate. no flashers!! could not get car out of gear to neutral in order to move vehicle. no shoulder as it was on an overpass. had to abandon vehicle in traveled portion of interstate 29. had some near miss where other drivers had to slam on their brakes leaving tire marks on pavement in order not to hit our car. husband had to direct morning traffic around car till police could get there. worried that someone would hit it and get hurt/killed. husband had no safety gear and was placed in a very unsafe position trying to keep others from hitting our vehicle sitting the traveled portion of an interstate highway.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge durango. while driving approximately 25 mph, the entire electrical system failed without warning. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the alternator, battery, and the electrical system needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
Alternator caught fire, stalled engine, and destroyed the computer chip, but manufacturer said it was not there fault.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge durango. while driving approximately 50 mph, the battery warning indicator illuminated while pulling into a parking structure. the contact noticed smoke under the hood and parked the vehicle. the vehicle was unable to be restarted. the contact discovered that the smoke was coming from the alternator. the failure recurred twice. the dealer diagnosed that the thermostat housing and the cooling sensor failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 87,000.
While driving on the highway at 50mph all interior lights started flashing and the heating system turned on unexpectedly. approximately 1 minute later the car shut off completely. i lost power steering and brakes. i was able to coast the vehicle to a turn lane where the battery completely died so i was not able to turn on my hazard lights. several vehicles almost collided with my vehicle while i waited for a tow truck. i was towed to the dealer where it was found that my 180 amp alternator (not covered under the other alternator recall) failed which damaged the serpentine belt, idler, and tensioner pulleys, battery, and pcm. all these components needed to be replaced which added up to $2400. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge durango. while driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled and all the warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to a local dealer, but was not diagnosed. the failure mileage was 72,000.
While driving on the freeway with my wife and three young children in my 2011 dodge durango crew i observed a smell of smoke from the hood compartment. seconds later the instrument panel went haywire and every light began flashing. heat began blowing from vents, wipers turned on by themselves. the car suddenly died and i lost control of steering as well as braking. i was barely able to make it to the side of the freeway. we removed the kids from the car so they would be safer. when the kids were out of the roadway i popped the hood and observed smoke coming from the alternator. i had to have my durango towed to my mechanic. my mechanic rebuilt the alternator but once it was rebuilt the car wouldn't start. mechanic performed testing and determined that the pcm was fried and needed to be replaced. my mechanic notified me that the pcm and alternator for the 2011 durango was under recall. when i called chrysler they informed me that my durango was not included in the recall. apparently their are three sizes of alternators in the 2011 durango 160amp, 180 amp, and 220amp. only the 160 amp is covered under the recall. after researching online i have came across hundreds of other durango owners with the same problem. all 2011 dodge durango's should be recalled because this is the same exact issue as the durango's covered under the recall. this could have ended much worse as my children could have been hurt or worse yet killed. dodge needs to take responsibility for their defective parts. the vehicle only has 54,000 miles. way too early to be paying for this kind of repairs.
Even after the recall for the fuel pump relay it was replaced , the entire tipm went out while i was driving on the highway
Lost total battery power to vehicle while driving at high speed. it started with a buring metal smell coming from the alternator. drove vehicle 5 miles on a state highway at 55mph when the battery light came on. drove another 10 miles on the same road and speed, and radio shut off, windshield wipers were turning on and off, power windows going up and down on thier own, dashboard warning lights turned on and off until finally losing power steering and then vehicle completely died. luckily i was slowing down and had a parking lot to coast into after total power failure. towed vehicle to dealership and determined the alternator went bad, which caused a short to the battery causing the battery to become completely dead and damaged, while blowing the fuse panel. seems like this is becoming a common problem with durangos this age with similar mileage.
Vehicle in motion traveling at 65 mph. vehicle lost all engine and electrical power. no lights or indicators on dashboard. no power steering. limited braking power. coasted the vehicle out of traffic to the shoulder of the road. shifted vehicle into park and waited 5 minutes. after 5 minutes electrical power returned and was able to start vehicle and drive it home. found complaints online of similar problems.
On friday, august 26th 2016, i was driving to richmond, va from newport news, va when my battery warning light came on. i pulled over, turned the vehicle off, sat for a few minutes and restarted the vehicle. the light did not come back on. i decided to make a stop in williamsburg to the outlet stores and the battery warning light came on again. while turning into the stores' parking lot, all warning lights and electrical system started flashing. right before parking the vehicle completely shut down/off. the vehicle smelled like something was burning, but no obvious fire. the outlets security came over and hooked up a jump box to the battery. he stated the battery appears low. he tried to jump the battery with the jump box, but it would not start. he tried with his security vehicle and my vehicle and the connections started smoking. after approximately 3 hours, waited on a friend to arrive, called triple a and the representative connected his jump box to my vehicle battery. the vehicle started but as soon as the jump box removed, the vehicle would die back down. the triple a representative and myself determined that the alternator is bad and drained the battery. had the vehicle towed to pomoco dodge dealership in newport news, va. researched information and there is a recall named p60 for 2011 dodge durango's with a 3.6l engine and a 160 amp alternator. my vehicle is a 2011 dodge durango with a 3.6l engine and a 220 amp alternator. contacted chrysler dodge and they stated that my vin doesn't quaility, but they will log my information. after conducting more research, this issue has many complaints on all 2011 dodge durango's no matter the alternator amp (160, 180, 220). the recall should be expanded to cover all the 2011 dodge durangos as it is very common, very dangerous, and definitely a safety hazard. could have happened while on the interstated w/ my daughters
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge durango. while driving at highway speeds, there was a presence of smoke that emitted into the interior of the vehicle. the vehicle randomly stalled and the contact had to cautiously coast the vehicle down an exit ramp and onto a local roadway. upon further inspection under the hood, it was noticed that the alternator assembly and the battery were burnt. the vehicle was pushed to a dealer where the battery and alternator assembly were replaced. there was an unknown manufacturer recall, but the vin was excluded because it only addressed the 160 amp and not the 180 amp. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
While driving the durango, the dash lights started flashing, the battery light came on and heat started coming out of the floor vents. pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and turned off. while attempting to start, the entire electrical system was non-responsive. when attaching jumper cables to provide electricity to put the vehicle in neutral so it could be towed, the cables got very hot very quickly and the towing company said that indicated there could be a "dead short" in the electrical system. further research indicates that this was a reported problem and there is a recall for the 2011 dodge durangos, but when i entered my vin number into the database, it did not indicate that my vehicle was part of the recall. to me, this is clearly a mistake or oversight as my vehicle obviously died while in the process of driving it. it would be greatly appreciated that further review of the affected vehicles be completed and reimbursement be made for repairs completed at my expense.
While driving, i experienced a sudden loss of electrical power. i had the car towed to a dodge dealership where after more than a week i was told that my alternator failed and could not hold a charge, which caused my battery and other components to fail. i discovered that there was a 2011 dodge durango recall (# p60 / nhtsa 14v-634) dealing with a sudden loss of power to the alternator. although, this recall seems to match my vehicle description and problem, i was told by the chrysler company and the dealership that my vin number does not match the recall list and there must be no relation. it seems to me that my car's problems matched the recall exactly and based on that recall i should be reimbursed the $2,000 spent on repairs. *tr
68000 miles, while driving battery light indicator came on, a burning smell was present, coming from the engine. a mile or two down the road, smoke started to come from under the hood. i pulled over, turned vehicle off. looked under hood, all looked normal, smoking stopped. turned vehicle back on, battery light was not lit, proceeded to drive another half a mile fine. when i got back in later on that day, no indicator lights initially, then while driving about a mile or so, battery light appeared, then check engine light, then a/c started blasting hot air, dash board starting going haywire with light indicators and message appearing, wind shield wipers started going on its own and acceleration was difficult. pulled over and restarted the vehicle. turned it back on, lights were still present. made it another 2 miles and the vehicle stalled while driving in the street and would not restart. had it towed to the local dodge dealership for repair. they determined it was the alternator burned out, and as a result a new battery was needed as well. $1350.00 later!!! thank goodness towing was covered under my insurance policy, because dodge claims this repair is not under warranty! it should be!! very unsafe and too young of a vehicle for this kind of repair! there is current recall for this type of repair for 160 amp alternator, it should be for 180 amp alternator as well!!! p60 is chrysler's recall number for this.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge durango. while driving approximately 25 mph, the contact observed smoke and an abnormal odor coming from the hood without warning. the contact pulled over the vehicle, opened the hood, and observed smoke and flames from the alternator. the contact extinguished the fire with a water hose. a fire report was not filed and there were no injuries. the alternator was taken to an auto store where it was diagnosed that the alternator was faulty. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge durango. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v879000 (electrical system, interior lighting); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect.
Nothing has happened. .....yet. 1st recall on the sun visor vanity lamp was fixed over one year ago. got another recall for same thing in feb 2016. called dealership, they said they didn't have the parts for repair yet, they'd call when they get them in. got another notice for same recall on 8/01/16. called dealership....same answer. they're telling me it's all up to chrysler to send them the parts.
At under 60000 miles, alternator malfunctioned and quit, thus leaving the vehicle inoperable. vehicle was in motion when failing.
Takata recall. the electrical system went out in the truck causing it to come to a complete stop in traffic. we had the car towed to the nearest shop which was firestone on central in south phoenix. dodge refuses to pay for the repairs.
I was driving with my kids getting our day started. i turn on with remote start was making loud screeching sound. loaded up kids and started to take off. we could all smell a bad burning smell. i check all temps on car and nothing read high temperature. i drove on my way to daycare when my car stalled and shut down. and it had previously did this b4 like 4 months or so and a recall of fuel pump was done and had been running fine till this day. i tried starting it a few times nothing. finally turn on and battery light came on. i drove it to drop of my 3 kids at camp when it kept feeling like it wanted to turn of. still smelling burning. finally i'm headed to work and it stalled in middle of intersection. thank god i didn't have my kids with me and no accidents happened. i had car towed to local mechanic because dealership is and hour away. he said alternator gave out. put new alternator in still nothing. 600 dollars down drain. now i have to pay towing to get to dealership which will mean just more money down the drain which i don't have the extra money and use this car for wk so hopefully i don't lose my job. i don't understand how i have same exact problems as another 2011 durango under recall but mine ain't one of them. do you have to wait till someone is seriously hurt or killed to have a recall. if none of this is resolved properly i will be hiring a lawyer. i have only had vehicle for 2yrs.
The battery light came on and then the vehicle shut down on the highway. had 4 kids in the car. could have been killed.
After driving less than a mile from home, vehicle began smoking and a hole burned through the headliner at the sun visor. it has been towed to huffines lewisville for repair. related recall 15v-879
