Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2008 Dodge Durango

While driving all electrical and engine, steering shut down with no notice....no lights or steering while in the dark will get me killed

Takata recall, every thing electrical does not function on my vehicle. i have to disconnect the window it rolls down on it's own. my drivers side brake light does not work or license number tail light does not work when in drive. this has been an on going problem with me being stopped by state troopers while driving on the highway or city/ county police on a local road. not using a signal while making a left turn is a violation. not having break lights functioning when at a stop is also a violation. the problem is in the faulty wires and is a safety issue. this has been a recall but, not for the 2008 dodge durango slt v8 4.7lt. takata recall. the rear windshield wiper engine is bad and should had a recall due to the faulty wiper engine. safety hazard. *tr

On several occasions i have had the ignition key stick in the starting position while i was attempting to start the car. this happened as i let go of the key after turning it to the start position. the key can be manually turned back to the off or run position. this has sometimes resulted in a successful engine start and at other times i have caught it before the engine started. i believe chrysler has issued recalls for this on other models or years, but not for this car.

Have not been contacted about replacing the passenger air bag and the is on for the air bag.

When and everytime vech. is refueled, get blowback of fuel. during 1 trip, fuel ran back down outside of fill pipe and gas tank, and hit hot muffler, luckly it did not ignite. can't fill gas tank more than half way, without this happening. called dealer, service mgr. took vin#, said wasn't cover under recall of any type, but will correct problem with new gas tank for aprox. $1000. another problem that happen twice now, is elect. system goes out, loosing all power to steering and brakes, this happen twice. one time was while towing camper on interstate highway with traffic, we just barely got off road. again dealership, said the recall for instrument and wiring couldn't and wouldn't cause car to just shut down as described. but they would be happy to replace the instrument cluster and correct any wiring problems, saying cost could be a few hundred or more. have called chrysler 3 times, they taken info. said someone would contact, never a call back. this car was purchased as a used car from a ford dealership, with only a little over 10,000. miles in 2013, 5yrs old and only 2000 per year should of been a red flag, but was told a older gentleman had and ford dealer showed a carfax report that fit the mileage.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 dodge durango. the contact stated that after being parked overnight, it appeared that the vehicle had been involved in a thermal event. the dashboard was melted and half of the driver's seat and steering wheel was burned along with other extensive damage. the vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnosis where the failure could not be diagnosed and the contact was assured it was not due to a defect. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 80,000. updated 3/27/13 *cn

2008 dodge durango was parked at 11:30 pm. at 3:00 am engine fire occurred and car was total loss. fire started behind drivers headlamp area. fire dept and chryslers independent investigators could not determine how it started but did determine no arson was involved. therefore car ignited on its own. *kb
