We have classified the 11 complaints from 2007 Dodge Durango about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
Vehicle is switching into 4wd low while in motion. i have also heard the actuator activating while the vehicle is not running and without the key in the ignition. i believe this to be an electrical issue based on research that appears to be happening in multiple vehicles for dodge. i am concerned that the system could change into 4wd or 4wd lock at a highway speeds causing dangerous and unsafe driving conditions.
Vehicle shifted into 4wd and then to neutral and would not shift back. had to pull to side of road to avoid a collision. the problem here is actually the transfer case motor. on the awd model it is a 2 speed motor on 2wd it is a one speed motor. this is important because you need to know which you have if you are looking to replace it
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge durango. the contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph, the four wheel drive switch turned on independently. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the technician replaced the transfer case motor and the switch. the failure recurred but the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
Engine quit. similar i think to like car that i have recall on for tipm nhtsa24v-530 seems awful coincidental. multiple occurrences but all when stopped on this car. perhaps same part used in prior year that is being recalled for 2011. *tr

Check engine light came on when you go to take off the durango has no power. gas mileage is really bad had a computer hooked up to it the code showed trans shift solenoid needs to be replaced. wanted to find out if anyone else has had a problem with the same. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge durango. the contact stated that the all wheel drive would engage independently without any warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the transfer case and switch needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 160,000.
2007 dodge durango slt 4x4, stalling and engine failure without warning while driving down the road. the first few times the engine stalled it would lose all power and stop in the intersection with little to no way of controlling the vehicle. once the vehicle stalled and several more times in an attempt to get safely out of the road the engine would no longer start. the dealership has had the vehicle for several days with no luck in finding the issues. i also have issues with the fuel system when filling the vehicle with gas it shoots out of the tank everytime it is filled up. this started at approx 45k miles. i was unaware that this is a safety issue, since it is a know problem with dodge it should be addressed. *tr
The car flashes 4lo consistently and, you can hear under the car when your not even driving the car switches into different 4x4's. when, you unlock the door it switches into different 4x4's. when, you go into reverse and, turn your wheel all the way the car locks and, you can't move unless you turn your wheel a different way. it also does this in forward. this is an issue that has been happening to other people and, dodge still has not done anything about this. if, you go on this website you will see other people with different year dodges that this has happened to and, yet there still is no recalls. this has to be fixed or someone can, get hurt with the car locking like this and, it going into different 4x4's. http://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t4148_ds482593?actionmessages=your+answer+has+been+posted. *tr

I will be driving and my 4wd lock will engage without me turning it on causing my tires to stick to the road. it prevents me from turning my steering wheel without the car acting like it is going tip over. it seems like the same problem that was experienced with the 2006 dodge durangos. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 dodge durango. the contact exited the vehicle and left it running. she reached inside to cut off the vehicle and as soon as she removed the keys from the ignition, the vehicle jumped out of gear and began to roll back. the contact attempted to engage the emergency brake, but was unsuccessful. the driver side door threw the contact to the ground. the front tire ran over the contact's left leg. the vehicle rolled into the middle of the street and stopped. she was transported to the hospital and sustained injuries to her left leg. the dealer has not been notified. the current mileage was 32,000 and failure mileage was 25,000.
1. passenger front window goes down by itself when driving as though someone has pushed the auto down control - but this is not the case. have taken it to the dealer 3 times to be fixed. they said they reset the controls. it is happening again. i am now also experiencing issues with putting the vehicle in reverse. the car starts backing up then the goes into neutral automatically. *jb
