We have classified the 4 complaints from 2005 Dodge Durango about EQUIPMENT into the following categories.
My dodge durango 2005, shuts off periodically while driving. this is extremely dangerous when i have to drive this crap with my kids in it. dodge is aware of this problem and just wants to brush everyone off. saying they found no evidence of a problem, well we all cant be wrong. i will tell everyone i know not to ever buy a dodge. at least fix this problem dodge, because right now your reputation is really bad. i am surprised dodge doesn't have a lawsuit yet. this problem will kill someone. *tr
I got a recall letter for my 2005 dodge durango at around 60,000 miles. i was told that the recall did not match my suv vin and that nothing was wrong. i now have 76,000 miles on the durango and it started throwing up fuel when completing a fill up. this happens everytime now. dodge already said my truck was good and that nothing was wrong with it. i am sure you they will try and tell me to cover the cost on my own. i will not cover the cost i promise you that. dodge you are responsible for this, so fix it. you are selling junk and i have been a true customer for many years this is my 5th durango and my last. i hope it starts a fire so i will no longer have to pay for crap your selling. *tr
When filling up the gas tank, the fuel tank filler tube inlet check valve does not function properly. it does not close and gas always spills out. i am afraid that gas spills out while driving. at times, with the keys in the ignition, the car will turn off by itself if i am moving slowly. i bought this truck in 2006. the first year, i brought the car in for stalling on its own. the dealership told me that there was nothing that they could do and the car did not have a problem. i brought the truck in about three times for the same problem and every time, nothing was resolved. after that i did not have the money or the time to continue bringing the truck in for a problem that the dealership was saying they could not find. over the years, i have just dealt with this truck stalling on its own. about 1 year ago, i noticed that the car started spilling out gas if it was filled up. i did not know there was a recall until i researched the problem online. i found that there was a recall. i contact chrysler customer care, they looked up my vin # and told me that they did not have any recalls listed on my particular truck. i explained to the representative that my car had a problem with the fuel tank filler tube inlet check valve and that gas spilled out. i told them that i was afraid that gas was spilling from the tank while i was driving. the representative told me that there was nothing that they could do and told me to take the truck to the dealership. i am afraid that if i take the truck to the dealership i will be responsible for all of the expensive charges to fix this problem. i do not have the money for this since i am paying $700 a month for a truck that should never have been financed at that amount in the first place and is not worth the amount still owed. *ln the consumer stated she was involved in a head-on-collision on april 25, 2011 and the air bags did not deploy. also, the rear wiper made a whistling noise. ...
On dec 19 2008 as i was driving home during a severe thunderstorm when my driver side wind shield wiper suddenly stopped working and got tangled up with the passenger side wiper that continued to work normally. this happened minutes before i was about to enter the freeway so luckily i was in a place where i could safely pull over. i tried to wait out the storm but it was getting really bad so i had to drive at 20-30 mph with my hazard lights on. i first thought that the bolt holding the wiper arm was stripped but after taking it to the dealer to get inspected, to my surprise i was told that it was the linkage for the wiper system. the linkage just broke out of nowhere. our vehicle is only 3 1/2 years old and i have never heard of such a thing happening on new or old vehicles of any make. the repair technician told me that the linkage broke because of the way the part was made. the amount it cost to repair my vehicle came out to $607.00 for parts and labor and was barely able to get it replaced today. it also took 7-10 days to order and ship the part to the repair shop. i was informed that it was replaced with the same model part so this problem might happen again which is not comforting at all. i asked to take the broken part back to show proof or a description of the area that broke. so if needed i can send that in. *tr
I have a 2005 dodge durango limited w/ hemi. we purchased this vehicle used w/ 26,000 miles on it a year and 4 months ago. i have experienced several problems w/ it: broken remote keys-the remote locking devices on both keys are now dysfunctional due to the solder that holds the battery in place breaking. i cannot lock/unlock vehicle from outside and when it is locked from inside prior to exiting, upon re-entry, the alarm sounds until key is put into ignition and vehicle is started. the amount of money to replace these keys is outrageous!!!! windows shaking while rolled down-anytime any of the windows are rolled down they shake violently w/ in their casing. there is also quite a bit of wind noise heard when windows are rolled up completely. had dealership look at it but they could not determine there was a problem. navigation system-the main knob has become almost dysfunctional. it seems that it is sticking out farther than it once had. with out use of this knob, the entire nav system is virtually unusable. seatbelt cover-drivers side plastic dust cover where seatbelt goes into seat came off and the plastic around it has a crack in it. there is quite alot of dust building up inside the seatbelt mechanism. liftgate screws falling out-this has happened a dozen times regardless of how many times they are tightened. it is the screws that hold the plastic on the inside of the liftgate-where the closing handles are located. broken pin on accelerator pedal-dealer calling this a "push nut pin" and it is what attaches the accelerator to the arm. dealership certain it is a part malfunction however chrysler refusing to repair. underside steering wheel radio control-the left button that changes the pre-set radio stations as well as which disk is playing in the cd changer is sticking. if you just barely touch it the stations/cd's change continuously. in order to get it to stop, you must depress it very hard while moving it back and forth. *tr
We purchased a 2005 dodge durango used march 11, 2006 with 16,568, miles on it. on march 13th two days after we purchased it and 16,614 miles later (48 miles later) the truck broke down on the highway! we had the truck towed in to earnhardts dodge, find out the ring gear and pinion set needs replaced, differential side bearings - all axles replace (includes case and side gears if necessary) this is quoted from all my receipts. 2nd time around (july 18,2006) - now has 24,795 miles on it, rear end issues again! again this is the repairs - seal, axle shaft oil - replace all other axles-right. brake pads, disc brake-both sides rear replace due right rear axle seal leaking contaminated pads, rotor has fluid burned into the surface. replaced right axle seal and brakes. also had to replace watts link sway bar, replaced bell crank and links. replaced both rear stabilizer bars again. 3rd time (january 10,2007) - now at 38,051 miles replace seal, axle shaft oil, replace all other axles - replace seal, drive pinion oil replace all others. 4th time, (january 29,2007) now at 39,329 again, replaced bell crank, watts link. 5th time (july 16,2007) - 52,058 failed bearing in rear diff, need to replace ring & pinion and all bearings- cost - $1,474, (why would i want to pay this much when they haven't been able to fix this problem?) told them to put the truck back together, we can't afford to fix it. 6th time - now after researching this vehilce, we found out, earnhardts dodge/hyundai in gilbert arizona (same placed we purchased it at) january 17,2006) (now 6 repairs) noticed the durango had rear differtial leaks, they replaced seal, drive pinion oil and all three parts - then returned the vehicle to stock when it was finished at 16,614 miles! just 48 miles before we purchased the vehicle!! *tr
I took my suv in for service as it was not running smoothly and had trouble changing gears.dodge made alterations and returned it .shortly after that it stalled out while driving & the check engine light came on. the reading indicated problems with the 02 sensor. after hesitation, dodge replaced my o2 sensor and said the stall out was not related to the check engine light coming on, it didn't stall when they drove it, so they did not consider it a problem. days later it stalled out & the check engine light came on again. when i returned the truck to dodge, they got back the same read as before and said it needed a software update.a week later the check engine light came on then the truck stalled out during operation.i took it back to dodge, they contacted daimlerchrysler who had them check the exhaust for leaks.a pinhole leak was found and sealed & they reset the check engine light.after about 200 miles, the check engine light reappeared, the next day it stalled out again.they did more testing for exhaust leaks, said they found another pinhole leak and sealed the entire exhaust.once again, after a couple days of driving, it stalled out in motion, 2 days later, it stalled out again, then finally the check engine light came back on.when i returned it to dodge, the service manager said he would not work on the truck, he would call dahmlerchrysler for them to send a tech out to look at it and he put me in another rental car.two days after that, i got a call from dodge saying, an unnamed source told them they should rig the lines to block airflow to the fuel line by putting piping inside the existing lines to stop the truck from stalling. although he said, "but if you tell anyone i told you to do this, i will deny ever telling you to do it!" so dodge rigged my lines and told me i needed to pick it up as dahmlerchrysler would not approve any more rental for me.this is how they want me to currently drive the vehicle.sounds too dangerous for me, can you please help!!
