I love my car. i do not love having to dump a quart of oil in it every 1,000 miles. while driving my car it shut off. everything shut off! i managed to get it restarted and make it back to my job but then had to have the car towed because it shut off again and wouldn't restart. at the time i had no clue about the oil issue as i bought my car brand new in 2014. it is costing me quite a bit to keep oil in it. the manufacturer flaw is that they used aluminum piston which burn through the oil. this needs to be fixed and a recall needs to be issued. this is dangerous and may end in death for some unsuspecting consumer. also, after coming to a stop at a stop light or sign the car shifts out of drive as soon as you release the break and press on the gas. i have had this happen multiple times and have almost been hit as it will move slightly in to the intersection and then acts like it isn't going to go anywhere when it all of a sudden jumps back into drive. this is a major hazard and i am unsure why this issue and the other issues with the 2014 dart are not being investigated and no recalls are being issued for this vin #. obviously, there are many complaints about these issues. since the issues can end in fatalities it should be looked at a lot closer than it is. these issues are continual, there isn't just one date for them.
Bought a 2014 dodge dart 2 years. had no problems with it till recently when car started to shut off while running in motion. i lost power steering control and power to the whole car. incident happened on four different occasion. three times on residential road and once on freeway. completely a safety issue and has put my life in danger multiple times. electronic throttle control, electronic stability control light, and check engine light turned on. contacted chrysler dodge and their solution was to have me tow car to dealership and pay to have car serviced even though car is still under warranty. car has put my life and the life of other people in danger multiple times and the company seems to not care even after contacting them formally with complaint.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 dodge dart. while driving various speeds, the vehicle lost power and stalled. also, the battery indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but they were unable to identify the cause of the failure. the contact called keller motors inc (1795 s perryville blvd, perryville, mo 63775, (573) 547-1002) and was informed that the vin was not included in any recalls. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted via email, but they did not respond. the failure mileage was 129,059.
Pulling to a stop on the morning of tuesday, june 21, car shuddered then died 1 block from home. no warning lights came on, and none had flashed in the 1.5 years i have owned the car. could not get car to start for 10 minutes. once car started, no warning lights appeared. drove it to my local service station for a diagnostic. they found no issues. drove it all day wednesday with no issues. thursday morning, it shuddered and died about 3 blocks from home. again no warning lights, and car would not start. had it towed to local service station where it was serviced on tuesday. while waiting for a tow, searched the internet for common dodge dart problems, and discovered that they burn through oil. checked the oil and zero oil was registered on the dipstick, despite having just over 3k miles since last oil change. no signs of an oil leak. no warning lights or indicators of a problem. no issues with over heating. mechanic is currently diagnosing the issue to determine a fix. this is a recurring problem with dodge darts if complaints on public forums are any indication. reports of engines seizing due to burning through oil at an excessively high rate are common for this car whether the car has 9k miles, or 50k miles. it is incredibly dangerous for a car to run without oil, and posses a serious safety risk, especially if the electrical and diagnostic information is not recognizing the issue so that owners can address it in advance of engine seizure.
This vehicle have had two occasions of master cylinder brake fluid loss and unexplained totall engine oil evaporation without warning that caused the loss of power while driving. luckily it happened in city, not highway.
Car starting stalling/dying when driving in june 2016. car was towed to the dealer (under warranty) the dealer replaced the battery. after 2 months the heater/ac stopped working and the car began stalling again. in november the car began stalling/dying while driving. the car is in motion when this happens. this is a serious safety hazard. the car dies leaving you with no power and stuck in traffic. it seems to happen during a turn on most occasions. i fear getting hit by another car when this happens. i have noticed several similar complaints with this. why hasn't this been investigated. the average is 20,00-30,000 miles. please do not wait until someone gets hurt or losses a life before an investigation on this car is made. *tr
I bought a brand new 2014 dodge dart aero and about 3 weeks after purchasing my car stalled and shut off, the transmission light came on. i took it to dodge and they said they did not have a code but they saw an issue with my anti-lock brake system. a part to my transmission was recalled, we waiting for over 3 months for the part and upon bringing my car to the dealership they reported my car not starting. about 3 weeks after my transmission recall was "fixed" my engine starting smoking upon starting the car at least 5 times and my engine was completely replaced, they again reported my car would not crank. my car was in the shop for 27 days, two days after picking my car up it was brought back to the dealor for the car feeling like the transmission was slipping at various speeds. it's been almost 2 weieks with no update. dodge resolutions has sent an inspector. initially the car was purchased with about 220 miles on it, the car is only at 17,000 now.
2.4 l engine stalls and dies at highway speeds. the car also uses a great deal of oil, with no evidence of a leak. have had it in the shop several times. mechanics do not know what to do with it. seems like a faulty engine.
That vehicle just shuts off has i'm driving
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 dodge dart. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced excessive oil consumption. the vehicle used over a quart of oil in 1,000 miles. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the information needed to be documented for a few months, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 19,000.
Vehicle was purchased used november 2016. vehicle has around 37000 miles. while driving the vehicle it will randomly have complete loss of power and the battery light would turn on. also, when i would try to start the vehicle after it shut off it would take a few attempts to start the vehicle again. in the past week it had happened 4 times. i have noticed it happens within 10 minutes of turning on the car and it has been sitting for 6+ hours. in one incident i was turning onto a major road and it shut off while cars were coming. this is an extreme hazard toward my safety and others. *tr
My 2014 dodge dart loses oil. the oil indicator light does not work. however the oil is not leaking on the ground and once there is no oil at all in the vehicle, it shuts off while driving. this happens upon taking off. the car has to put in neutral in order to start.
Tiger shark multi-air 2 engine consumes 1qt oil per 1000 miles. i was unaware of this consumption issue and the oil went to low and engine is designed to shut off. this stalling has happen 3 times to and 1 to the dealership. none of the cars warning indicators come on when pressure is low the car just stalls. dealership resolution watch oil level and there is fix for the consumption or any way for the warning lights to be triggered. so if i forget to check the oil i am gambling with my life and others on the road if the car stalls while on the highway.
Purchased the dodge dart rallye in july 2014. dec 2014 the engine blew because of oil sludge in the engine. the dealership replaced the engine. the car was in the shop for 30+ days.feb 2014 the car would not start. after several attempts a loud noise and white puff of smoke came from the engine and the car started. drove it directly to the dealership.they looked at it and said nothing was wrong it could of been condensation.a month later the electric inside the car wasn't working. i took the car back and they said nothing was wrong. i also brought the car back because the engine was very loud and it was very difficult to shift into gear.they said the tires needed to be replaced and that is what was causing the loud noise. i replaced the tires and still had the loud noise and difficultly shifting. each time i went to the dealership with these problems they made me feel stupid. then on the evening of nov 29, 2015 with my 3 kids in the car, the transmission blew up. clutch went to the floor extremely loud noises, metal pieces shooting out everywhere. i pulled over and shut the engine and we ran for our lives. there was liquid all over the road. huge white puff of smoke covered the entire block. metal bolts and pieces everywhere. we towed it to the dealership. then on tues the service mgr called me and said it is not covered under warranty because it was caused by driver error. said i was driving the car rough or someone was.. i am the only one who drives my car. i am a mother of 3 in my 40's and use my car for clients when showing houses. i have no idea what he means by rough driving. i asked him to explain and he said i don't know popping the clutch??? not knowing how to drive a manual. which i learned on one and had one ever since. they refuse to pay for rental car and refuse to fix the car. the car also has body damage from the shooting bolts.
I would like to voice my opinion on a safety issue involving these cars with the 2.4 liter engine. these cars are using oil, way faster than they should. the cars stall out losing all power and steering if the oil becomes too low. there isn't any indicator light that you are low or any sign until it happens. currently my car is using just shy of a quart of oil every 1k miles and this is acceptable in dodge's eyes. they advertise these cars to go 6-8k miles between oil changes - no more than 10k miles! well, at 5.5 qt capacity... you will always run out plus some before a change is due! i have seen many people commenting about their vehicle stalling out on highways, etc without any warning. majority of people i'm sure are not thinking to check their oil on their new car with every gas fill up to be sure the level is ok. this is totally unacceptable! these cars use the 0w20 synthetic oil and it averages about $9 a qt. this is doubling the cost of oil changes since you need to fill it up several times in between. plus where is this oil going? mine has recently started sputtering and will be taking it back to the shop .. again.. have a feeling this oil is pooling somewhere and now causing a clog in something! *tr

I have a 2014 dodge dart that is burning oil at what seems to me to be an alarming rate. i have had my vehicle in the shop over 4 times. i am being told i have no leaks and my car is fine, and that it is characteristic that my car needs to have oil added every 2k miles. i drive my car to and from work and i rarely travel out of state. i am not over driving or rough driving my car by any means. i have spent over 1k dollars in rentals and repairs. i have a 3 year old son that i drive to daycare 4 days a week and i cannot mentally be comfortable driving my son in a car that stops in the middle of the road because its out of oil. dodge has done nothing to help me and i am seeking legal action.
I bought this car brand from the dealer. it has stalled on me and on occasions, it does nothing when i turn the key to start. total electrical defect. sent lemon law form and only got a new battery from chrysler. the car still doesn't idle or run right. in the stalling scenario, the car was in motion. in the no start it was in park. i now have 117,000 miles on the car and feel defenseless to get a resolution. on occasions, the charging system light will come on as i turn the key off.
While driving i started to slow down to stop at a light and my car began to jump as if it was stailing. my car was brand new at purchasing and about four months in it began to sound louder as if it was a ten year old car. that occured when i crunk up the car to warm it up in the morning. reading others experiences with this vehicle i believe it should be recalled for the safety of everyone before things get worse. an engine is nothing to take lightly and i hope the companies realize that.
I was at a complete stop, my foot was pushed down on the brake and it suddenly released from my foot followed by a whooshing sound. my brake system failed, and i had to use my emergency brake to stop my vehicle after i started driving it. i had it towed to a dealership and they diagnosed it as oil leaking from the engine into the brake booster. on 7/15/2015 my check engine light appeared, followed by the entire vehicle shaking uncontrollably. i turned the vehicle off, restated it and though the check engine light still appeared, the car no longer shook, and the check engine light went off a couple hours later. on 7/23/2015 the check engine light reappeared so i took it into the dealership where they are currently trying to diagnose what is wrong with it, but think it has a valve plugged or an engine problem. both of these incidents occurred after i had an oil change completed on the vehicle.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 dodge dart. the contact stated that the engine oil was depleting prematurely. the dealer stated that the engine motor failed. the dealer stated that the motor may need to be rebuilt. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 7,000.
Car wouldn't start had to replace the starting harness within the first 3 months of owning the car had to replace two batteries even after the harness was replaced but hasn't happened since. had to replace the turbo hose assembly from pulling in oil and cracked since the oil was hot. now im having to put in a quart of oil in it every month and i change my oil every two and half months (5,000 miles) so my engine is burning the oil off to quickly (oil consumption). also drove hit a very small pothole and had my driver side control arm snap very very cleanly and was told that it wouldn't be covered under any warranties.
In mid 2014, i was driving that year's model of a chevy dart, rented from enterprise while visiting friends in arizona. along hwy 17, the engine had shut off briefly. the interior electrical was still on, but power steering and brakes were gone. the exterior lights shut off, but i remember the cabin still had power because i quickly turned on the hazards. i believe it was a plastic turn-key, and it being reignited, that allowed me to regain control. it was a steep, windy road. it was about 10 at night and there was a lot of darkness without headlights.there was a big rig in the next lane in front of me, and heavy vehicles to the rear. it was definitely a close call.
I take mi car to the dealer wen i first buy new more than 15 times and they found nothing and this car it's continue with problems in normal daily drive. idle problems in the engine suspension noise transmission shifting not normal in drive position tires wear to fast exhaust smell fuel to strong in engine cool temp all this happen in stationary and driving in motion and normal drive is happen all the time
While driving clutch will lose compression making it difficult to shift without grinding gears. clutch will go all the way to the floor and inhibited you from shifting. i have had to shift into neutral to slow down hoping the clutch regains compression in order to shift into appropriate gear. this also inhibits proper acceleration when shifting gears.
