My daughter was driving to school on the morning of may 8, 2019. my vehicle (which she drives on a daily basis), 2006 dodge dakota, was struck forward of the front wheels on the driver's side by a chevy tahoe while making a right turn from a side street onto a busy, 4 lane divided highway. the collision tore the front bumper off of my/her dakota and caused major front end damage. her and a friend were both wearing seatbelts and were not seriously injured. the airbags did not deploy. the driver's side airbag was replaced under federal recall on april 25, 2016 at a dodge dealership in denton, tx. the passenger airbag was replaced under similar recall on march 14, 2019 at a dodge dealership in mckinney, tx.
Takata recall - since i got my first recall notice several years ago, i have called 4 times for replacement, 4 times i got "it's on backorder, we'll call when it comes in". i'm still waiting for several years now and have little hope from the call i made today. cut the ts!
Takata recall. i received an official mailing from fca stating that "parts are available" for my free passenger air bag replacement. i called the phone number provided, they took my info, and transferred me to my local dealer to make an appointment. the dealer said they do not have the parts and put me on a call back list, but could not tell me an approximate date for call back. i am just reporting this status and do not expect any response. please note that the manufacturer and dealer have different statuses. this prolongs a very dangerous situation which in my case, i was notified over one year ago. thank you.
I have been waiting months!! i have rec'd three mailed notices and one call. i attempted to get this resolved immediately. the local dealer has stated that he is only allocated 7 (seven) airbags a week. i still have no idea when my dodge dakota will be repaired. i imagine that fca really wouldn't want to be sued if i was injured by these airbags. as i have made every effort to get my truck repaired. how can i get this resolved?? i was disconnected from fca and can get no real idea of when the truck will be repaired from the dealer
Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2006 dodge dakota. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v352000 (air bags). the parts to do the repair were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. a local dealer (mountain valley motors located at 7535 appalachian highway blue ridge, ga 30513 888-716-5142) confirmed that the remedy parts were on backorder. the manufacturer did not know when the parts would be available. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect.
Fca is send my a letter that parts are available to repair the passenger side air bags yet when i visited two dealerships this morning i was told by both that they did not have the parts, nor could they order them. a call to their customers service line the representative says parts are available but no dealership in my area seem to know how to get them. it seems to part of fca continuing scram not to repair their vehicles. something need to be done before more people are injured or killed. neither fca and nhtsa seem to care about safety at this time and i will believe this until i see repairs being made, and not just more vehicles dumped on the american consumer!
