We have classified the 1 complaints from 1999 Dodge Caravan about EQUIPMENT into the following categories.
I have had repeated shredding of the serpentine belt on my 1999 dodge caravan resulting in loss of power steering and systems shutdown (including engine) during driving. this is a serious safety issue and i have read numerous reports of the exact same failure. brazil has recalled the dodge minivan for the same failures and dodge has made a modification kit (2005) for this problem but refuses to date to post a recall in the united states. i have replaced the belts 6 times and the tensioner 3 times in 60,000 miles. i have called dodge and they have refused to pay for the correction of the problem even though i had the last tensioner and belt put on at the dodge dealership although they used an old style tensioner not the new kit even though the new kit had been available since 2005 and i had the tensioner replaced in 2009. *tr
I had a clock spring replaced in my 1999 dodge caravan. this was a recalled part replacement. after the clock spring was replaced the cooling fan would not shut off and drained the battery. the repair for this was $590.30 to me. parts required to fix the cooling fan:1.battery, 2.relay mini, 3.relay pkg, 4.relay. *tr
Used standard car jack to change tire. after removing tire, jack failed and vehicle dropped to ground. main screw that raises and lowers jack had snapped in two. *jb
I have a 1999 dodge caravan that has already had one clockspring replaced in it. i paid for this out of my pocket, since it hadn't been recalled. that was about 1 year ago. now, the airbag light keeps coming on again and will make a ringing noise - just as it started the last time. this is undoubtedly a problem with the part. why hasn't dodge recalled the 99 models? *jb
I notified the first incident to the dealer about its speed sensor, over the phone, which blew away just after the two weeks of buying this car from his showroom. last month, the break went bad and were not covered under the warranty, i had to end up replacing the rotor and complete brake set, paying around $300 from my pocket, from a midas in pennsylvania. the third incident was most dangerous, and don't know how i saved the life of my two little kids including the one with 11months infant baby, the automatic transmission blew away while driving normally and lost control on the downhill, in the city of norristown, since its break and the entire system went off due to the failure of automatic transmission and i eventually took a great risk of pulling the car all be myself on the sidewalk and somehow protected each of my family members. this car is proven to be very unsafe and does not worth the life of my kids and my family. i sincerely request to help me have my money back at the earliest. the dealer is very rude and rough over the phone and does not let me speak at all. it took me several years to save this money to buy this car but the dealer has really deceived me by giving a faulty car. it seems to me that this car did not undergo for any kind of safety inspection as long as it was sitting in his showroom and i am very afraid of driving now. *tr
My air conditioning quit working - compressor and evaporator coil both went out on my 1999 dodge caravan about a year ago. i have not got the money to fix it so it is still out. in my entire life i have never had this happen in any vehicle. it's ridiculous. *nlm

Van began leaking oil and making loud rattling noise. mechanic found air conditioner fans to be loose and close to falling apart. mechanic found a heavy oil leak coming from the cylinder head gasket. mechanic felt this kind of major repair shouldn't be need for a vehicle of this year and mileage. mechanic called to find out if any recalls exits for such a problem. (they dont) also called mckenna dodge(place of purchase) to find out if this was a new problem. mechanic was told they were seeing at least 3 vans with the same problem every week. mckenna dodge felt cheap falty parts had been used and now the negative results were showing up.
The transmission failed causing the vehicle to jerk and not go into gear. nlm
The air compressor can be heard every 3 to 5 seconds while the vehichle is being driven. it started at 200 miles the dealership wont even look at it, they just keep saying its normal. an independant said that it should not make that much noise. you can also hear when the compressor door opens and closes and turn it on and off. the brakes make a knocking noise when you apply them in slower traffic. the transmission slips in traffic around 40 to 50 mph and then when you begin to accelerate again. *ak
