In the last 3 years my vehicle has stalled 5 times. today was the 5th time. i was on a hill about to turn onto another street, and as i started turning the steering wheel, the car turned off. it was very difficult to steer with no power. i turned the corner then put the car in neutral to start it up again. i was driving only abut 5 miles per hour on a residential street thankfully. the weather was cold but not raining. all 5 times that the car has stalled it has been a cold morning, and i was on an incline
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge avenger. the contact stated while driving at approximately 65 mph, the heater was activated however, the passenger side vents only produced cold air. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer or a local mechanic for diagnosis or repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 160,000
Temperature gauge alarm came on while driving and noticed the gauge showed it was really hot. pulled over to let it cool down and noticed the fan under the hood wasn't running to help cool it down.
The issue occurs mostly while the vehicle is in motion, but occasionally when it is sitting still and idling. while driving, the car engine will suddenly stall. no warning lights or check engine lights turn on. no codes are found when scanning the obd2. there are no recorded miss fires for any of the cylinders either. this is an especially dangerous situation specifically when driving full speed on major highways or roads. when the engine stalls, power steering cuts out and i have to muscle the car off to the side of the road to put the car in park and start it up again. the engine has stalled while going in reverse, driving forward, and sitting idle. this has happened over a dozen times now.
Catalytic converter shows as an error message and check engine light and will need likely replacement. the heater does not work on the car, likely due to the heater core. i just purchased the car and it had a recently replaced o2 sensor that was unplugged as its initial reason for the check engine light. there may be other cars with similar problems, and i wanted to report it because these are costly repairs.
Started getting a obd code 2017 and 2004. after replacing the manifold runner control valve the light stayed on and now code says that the circuit is high in bank one. i took off the runner control and tested it so it is a good part,
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge avenger. the contact stated while driving at various speeds the vehicle heating system operated on the drivers side. the contact recently had the blend door actuator and thermostat replaced however the failure persisted. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for diagnosis and repairs, however the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
While driving at hwy. speed vehicle surged but no warning lights, etc. next time started, warning lights came on indicating a p2173 code.car was just at dodge dealer for recalls. car will idle fine for a couple of minutes then start surging, idling rough with no power and set warning lights, mil, etc, esc. these will go off when vehicle is turned off except for check engine light. we have replaced throttle body with no change. cleared code and came back and did the same. very disappointed that dodge has not addressed this issue. it is not safe.
Engine light came on. got it diagnosed and code suggested changing the crank shaft sensor. purchased part and had it installed by an independent mechanic. an hour later the engine light returned and the engine knocked while stopped at a red light and the car turned off. the car would not go above 35 mph. i was able to restart the car and drove it to a second mechanic. the codes suggested changing the sensor, and a misfire of the 1st and 4th spark plugs. the crank shaft sensor was changed, the throttle body cleaned, and all spark plugs changed. still the same issue. the car will not go above 30 mph despite the gas pedal being pushed all the way down. knocking engine and stalling. took car to dealership. they suggested i allow them to take the engine apart for 800 dollars with no guarantee that this would fix the issue. car currently over 80,000 miles approximately.
