Problems with 2012 Dodge Avenger UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2012 Dodge Avenger starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 72 834 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2012 Dodge Avenger

The headrest on the driver seat snapped and hit my head while i was driving. i currently have back neck pain, feels like a pressure. it was unexpected. is there anything i can do ? i am going to my doctor this week, but anyway of fixing?

The heat does not work. cold air. it is winter and i am freezing.

The problem that i am having with my 2012 dodge avenger is the car shuts down she your are driving no warning just shut down .i was told there were four recalls on the vehicle i took it to ralph sellers a dodge dealership in gonzales,la. they supposedly fixed it i get off from work and car shut down three times, before i make it to my home..this vehicle is not safe and there should be a recall for this problem that this car is having.i do not know how long i can drive this car without someone plowing in the back of me and hurting me.

Passenger side air conditioning will not blow hot air. driver side works perfectly fine. i've read everywhere that it's a manufacturer's defect with the heater core etc. this will be my last chrysler product if not recalled and fixed for free.

Heater blows out cold, has plenty of antifreeze but there is a small leak somewhere actuated on left side makes clicking sound. can't figure out why no heat and it's cold here.

Passenger side blowing no heat while driving or stationary

When we turn on the heater in the car and doesn't matter which setting we get warm air on the driver side and cold on the passenger side.

Active head rest deployed without being in an accident. the plastic that holds the retaining pin broke causing the head rest to deploy

The heater on the passenger side stopped blowing warm air when the car is either idling or on the freeway. even with putting it full blast there's not heat coming out of the passenger side, just the drivers side.

No heat or defroster on the passenger side of vehicle

Heater defrost or air-conditioning. doesn't defrost the passenger side window.

Throttle control light comes on and vehicle loses power...could cause an accident.

My vehicle only blows hot air on the driver side. this seems to be a common issue among many others with the same vehicle. we tried to flush the heater core and it did nothing.

Dodge left residual machining debris in the avenger engine blocks that flows with coolant into the heater core and radiator causing the heater core to clog up and blocks heat to passenger side in the winter causing unsafe or unfit to operate in cold weather. i've had my avenger in dodge dealership where they confirm my heater core is blocked. it costs over 2k to fix this issue caused by defective or lack of dodge factory engine inspections. i've spoken to fca the dodge parent company and their answer is we should've had extended warranty even though i'm within the mileage for the factory warranty but out of amount of years coverage . my avenger had extended warranty from an outside source but that company will not cover dodge created malfunctions. the attached info shows my avenger at the dodge dealership on 03-06-2019. i also had it serviced in wichita at pr autoglass and auto services just prior to bringing it to dodge dealership. pr autoglass and services stated it is the heater core and that the problem cannot be flushed out as it has accumulated in the heater core blocking it from being professionally flushed. the residue was also evident in the radiator but flushing did remove that the best we can tell. dodge has a known issue with having left this debris in the engine blocks during the machining processes on avengers.

My cooling system is contaminated by inferior products manufactured within my dodge avenger. material/s within the cooling system fail and cause debris to build up within the entire cooling system. this material/s is a sandy like substance that blocks critical cooling and heating components that has lead to major failures of my heating system via the debris blocking the heater core from functioning. i certain that this debris is also affecting my engine's cooling function.

My car one day just started blowing cold air when my heater is on. i talked to the dealer ship and said it was a actuator that had gone out. i mentioned to them about seeing online that a some other avenger owners where having the same issue and that it was caused but sand and metal flakes left over from casting filling up the heater core and radiator. after my second trip back to the dealer for them to look at it they told me that my heater core was burnt up and needed to be replaced. i took it to a radiator shop and asked for a second opinion and was told that after looking into the problem and looking at the heater core that it was not burnt up and tho it could use a good flushing was not the issue.

Recurring heater problem where there is some heat on driver's side and none on passenger side. had car in 3 times to flush heater core to temporarily fix problem. this is an apparent manufacturer defect that cannot be resolved with regular maintenance or repairs. a new heater core is the only solution and this should be covered by dodge since it is a known manufacturer defect with the plating in the system coming loose and plugging the heater core.

Heater core is blocked with casting sand from engine manufacturing process making it unsafe to drive due to inoperable defrost or heat. windshield iced over while driving vehicle.

Takata recall i have a 2012 dodge avenger r/t. like many other avengers, the heat on the passenger side of my vehicle stopped working. i get nothing but cold air on the passenger side. i've done my research, and this is a manafacturer defect that results from bad casting that causes metal flakes to break off and fill up the heater core until it becomes so clogged that it stops working properly. a simple flush will not do the job, and the heater core must be replaced. this is an expensive repair. i highly believe that this should be a recall, due to the fact that visibility is severely decreased in winter on the right side of the car. this not only puts the driver and passengers in danger, but other vehices and pedestrians as well.

Passenger side heater/defroster vents blow cold air, while driver side blows warm air.

No heat on passenger side. after doing research found the issue is one of two things, 1st heater core location causing it to plug with sand, and costing 100's of dollars to have repaired only to have the same problem happen again and 2nd heater blend door not working properly. i've had the thermostat replaced fixed the problem for only a few weeks. now no heat again on passenger side.

When heat is on driver side vent blows hot air. passenger side and front window defrost does not.

No heat in center or passenger side of the car. windows will not defrost. only getting heat on left window and drivers side defrost. does it stationary and while driving. replaced controls, heat pump etc. still not working.

Driver side vents blow hot air and all passanger side vents blow cold air.

When i use the heater the passenger side vent blows freezing cold air and the drivers side blows hot, and it doesn't have dual control temperature.

The heat on the driver side is blowing out warm air while the vents above the radio and on the passenger side are blowing out cold air. turning the car off or turning the air from cold to hot does not fix the problem. defrost is not getting warm enough to defrost the windows

The passenger side heat does not work. this just stopped one day around 110,000 miles. the dealership let me know that this was a manufactures defect with the heater core. the entire coolant system is being advised to be replaced. there is also a god awful ticking noise coming from behind the glove box when the heat is turned on. dodge, i am very disappointed with reading all these reviews on the exact same issues, that you all are not stepping up as a company and correcting this issue. what is it going to take? someone wrecking a dying due to the unsafe conditions that you all knowingly put us into? i will never own another dodge after this car. i will never recommend a dodge to anyone either.

My 2012 dodge avenger just starting blowing cold air on the passenger side, but heat still works on the driver side.

Takata recall the dodge avenger 2012 has messed up heating systems. the left drivers side is hot, then as you go to the passenger side it is ice cold. when on the highways the cold doesnt go away. it stays cold on the passenger side the whole time. the hottest one is left of the wheel. then right of the wheel is lukewarm. then passengers left heater is cold and passengers right heater is freezing. during the winter it gets to be -20 outside. there is no way i am able to drive in that since my car wont heat up correctly. no auto shop is able to fix the issue. please issue a recall so we are able to drive in cold weather and have our heat on. please stabilize the heating and cooling system to where it is all even for every heater.

When heat or ac is turned on either in motion or not there is a clicking noise coming from the passenger dashboard about five clicks and the clicks will stop and the heat will come out of driver side, but cool air on passenger side. if turned off and back on it will repeat the five clicking noise and the heat will kick on. also this "heat" is lukewarm at best.

Heater core issues lead to inability to defrost windows and excess fog in the cabin.

Actuator ticking no heat on passenger side

Dodge left residual machining debris in the avenger engine blocks that flows with coolant into the heater core and radiator causing the heater core to clog up and blocks heat to passenger side in the winter causing unsafe or unfit to operate in cold weather.

Do not have heat for passenger side of vehicle. hot air blowes out of the driver side but only colld air from the passenger side . does not defrost windsheild , creating visibilty safety hazard. this is like this when i stopped or moving

The passenger side of the heating system malffunction, so the passaenger side windshield does not defrost and it causes a serious visibility/safety hazard during the cold season, the windshield remains fogged up while driving. i have to pull up several times on the freeway to manually scrape frost off the outside of the passenger side and manually wipe the moisture off the interior. the manufacturer is aware of this problem caused due to faulty manufacturing process which left end products that rapidly clogs and destroys the heating system. dealers who were confronted with complains admits to this. dodge avenger 2012 owners complained that they had to replace heater cores and radiators, some as early as 12000 miles and the cost runs from $1200 to $3000. the problem often reoccurs within months because either the dealer uses the same faulty parts or there is remaining residue in the system. driving in cold weather is not only uncomfortable and unhealthy, but causes a serious safety hazard due to poor visibility through the windshield. there are hundreds of complains in several auto forums. many reported to the manufacturer and dealers which are overlooked and neglected. owners who live in warmer climates don't have this problem or these complains would of been more enormous. dodge avenger 2000,s should be recalled to fix this problem, or these vehicles should not be on the road during the cold season for safety reasons. some drivers mentioned having to have a blanket for riders in the passenger side to use while traveling which adds to the hazard. note: a date entry is required to submit this complain but this is an ongoing problem every fall and winter.

The hvac system is not functioning properly. when the heat it turned on, it will blow heat out of the driver's side but not on the passenger side, the air from the passenger side is cool air. this seems to be a common problem according to research i've done on the web, and most people seem to thing this is a manufacturer's defect that should require a recall.

Passenger side had knocking after using ac. cold weather came and now my heat on the passenger side does not work. i've looked this up and see lots of others are having this exact same problem and people are paying well over $1k to have it repaired. i cannot afford that especially when this seems to be a defect for the dodge. i would like for this to be covered under warranty.

The passenger side heater does not blow hot air. half of the car is covered in frost/condensation making visibility almost non existent. in humid or cold climates, this is a major safety hazard as passenger side will not defrost/defog at any point, making driving the vehicle dangerous. costs to repair this issue cost almost $3000 dollars and is caused by a defect when manufacturing the vehicle. dodge intentionally allows this product on the market without cleaning the metal sand from the heating system during production, knowing that this will be an issue down the road after the vehicle is no longer under warranty.

2012 dodge avenger. 80k miles. heating issue: my heat only blows "warm" air out of the driver's side vent. it is not even hot air, just warm. the other vents are blowing cold air. the heater actuator door has been replaced twice - no improvement. the thermostat has been replaced - no improvement. the heater core has been flushed - no improvement. after driving for approximately 30 minutes it will warm slightly, but still very cold in the car during the winter.

Heat blows out drivers side vent. but blows cold out passenger side vent. have changed thermostat and actuator doors. have flushed system several times and still no change. garage estimated me 1400 to change out radiator and heater core but not guaranteed this will help matter. apparently this is a common issue with the 2012 dodge ram.

Heater on passenger side started blowing cold air while driver side blows warm

Heater core leaking above gas pedal. this is the third time it's going to need to be replaced since owning the vehicle.

Takata recall my car had been having this knocking sound, and then developed this sound like something was stretching inside the passenger side. the batter light cam on but the car was ok. the next day it came back on the air conditioning came on them went off all the other lights on the dash kept coming on and off. k stopped at an auto parts store to have them check it, and it would not start all the lights on the dash were on the fritz and reset. when driving on the road it would not let me go above 40 mph and the rpm went up to like 4.

Vehicle wont start at times has a red lightning bolt all gauges work just wont start until jumped. also when using the heater heat on drivers side and cold on passengers side.one is the anti theft wcm and the other is a heatercore that dodge has known about this problem since 1999 models

Ac works on both sides . when heat is turned , heat only works on drivers side. cold air blows on passengers side and on passenger side defrost. driver side heat and defroster has no issues.

Passenger side heat blows cold air out.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge avenger. the contact stated that the vehicle would shut off while stopped at a stop light. the battery indicator illuminated during the failure. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. a dealer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 119,656. the vin was not available.

Climate control blows cold air on the passenger side and warm air on the drivers side when heat is on and driving. engine temperature does not reach normal operating temperature when driving in cold weather. took to my local trusted mechanic and he diagnosed the heater core is plugged with debris. looked online and the dodge avenger have numerous complaints with that same issue. called chrysler group and made a complaint and got a case number. i have an appointment later this week to have it diagnosed by a dodge dealership for the record.

I took my car to ntb they stated there was a recall on my car for the transmission and i got online to check for recalls and it sais 0 detected but i believe this needs to be reassured. there was a recall back in 2015 and i would like for it to happen again.

My car is blowing cold air on the passenger side. i just had the heater core and the actuator door replaced back in the summer and it cost us over 2000.00. this issue started back in february and we waited until summer to fix it but now a few weeks into the cold weather and here we go again. the heat worked for about a week and now the passenger side is blowing cold air again . i called dodge and was told it was a manufactures defect but there was no recalls so they stated that i had to pay to get it fixed again. the place that fixed it stated that the heater core has like a film that breaks off and the particles block the heat. there is so many people having the same issues but many calls to dodge and they will not pay to have this fixed. can you help, i can not afford to fix this again! and i have a 30 mile commute to work, now i am sick from being so cold daily.
