Recently reported VISIBILITY problems on 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser

2002 chrysler pt cruiser. consumer writes in regards to no instrument panel illumination, fuel and oil leaks, brake warning lights comes when applying brakes, inoperative windshield wiper switch. *smd the consumer stated the instrument panel was completely dark and he was unable to see the gauges at night. updated 05/22/13

With no warning and no apparent cause, the rear driver side quarter window detached from the car while driving on the interstate. since i was unaware of what exactly happened at the time (i just heard a noise and felt some wind) i did not stop and am unaware of what if any property damage may have occurred to other cars as a result. closer examination shows that the glass separated from the bolts that held it to the car. it looks like there is a recall for this problem on later pt cruiser models (07v149000), but that does not apply to 2002 models. *tr

Rear quarter glass on driver side detached while driving on highway. nothing led to this problem. *tr

A fixed rear window on a 2002 chrysler pt cruiser is coming loose. this is a recall on an older model of pt cruiser. i asked a dodge dealer about if there was a recall for my year model and they said it was not extended to the 2002 year model. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 chrysler pt cruiser. while driving 55 mph, the rear driver side quarter glass separated from the vehicle. the dealer has not inspected the vehicle. the manufacturer and dealer stated that the vin is not included in recall # 07v149000 (visibility:glass, side/rear). the current and failure mileages were 50,000.

Crack in windshield down underneath the rubber the crack grew and grew. *bf the gear shift broke, and the rear passenger tire went flat. *jb

A white powder substance is leaking from air bag. dealer replaced airbag and dashboard. the substance started leaking again. the manufacturer stated it was a reaction from paint on the plastic. the consumer gets ill from riding in vehicle. consumer experiences nausea/headaches, and sore throat when riding in the vehicle. the manufacturer will not tell the consumer what the powder was-replace air bag assembly. the consumer states that the windows slip down in the track by themselves and makes a squeaky/creaking noises when used-may still exist per invoice, and reinstall 2 rubber bumpers in glove box-had to order a new air bag module-second time. *scc

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 chrysler pt cruiser. after rainy weather conditions, water enters the vehicle and causes severe leakage on the floor and flooding of the fuse box. the dealer stated that the seam underneath the driver side windshield was not welded properly, allowing fluids to leak into the vehicle, in which they attempted to use the adhesive/rtv/black to repair the seam. this was done several times, but the vehicle has yet to be properly repaired. a formal complaint with the manufacturer. the powertrain was unknown. the failure mileage was 9,000 and current mileage was 51,163.

When vehicle is being driven 50 mph or faster and windows are down, rear driver and passenger side windows make a loud unusual noise, cause unknown. *ak *jb

Consumer had found white powder on top of dashboard and it was coming from air vents. had contacted dealer, and they said that evaporation had turned into powder. besides a recall from dealer, problem still there. *ak *slc
