Hello, on friday, february 19th, i experienced a catastrophic failure of a yokohama iceguardig20 tire. the entire inside side wall of the tire completely failed. please see attached document named "yoko tire failure - 2016feb26.pdf" for details of the event a photos. the other attached documents contain information on the cost to replace the failed tire. i submitted correspondence to yokohama on february 26th, 2016. they have not responded in 60 days so i am submitted to the nhtsa to lodge a complaint. the yokohama website clearly indicates there is a five year warranty. however, they did not respond to date. i am quite disappointed with their lack of response. any assistance with this issue would be appreciated. i never experienced anything like this before in nearly thirty years of my driving experience. my engineering background strongly makes me believe there is an issue with these tires. sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde. the vehicle has goodyear, size p225/60r16 tires. the contact stated that the driver side rear tire began to slowly lose air until it was completely flat. he noticed that the sidewall of the tire had severe cracks and was chipping. the other three tires also began to lose air. the dot number was unknown. the tire failure mileage was 29,000 and the vehicle current and failure mileages were 80,000.
