Problems with 1999 Chrysler Concorde ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

Engine started making loud knocking noise. pulled off of highway at next exit, drove into parking lot and stopped vehicle. had vehicle towed to dealer and was informed that the engine needed replacement due to oil starvation. dealer could not explain cause of starvation, as oil levels were normal, oil pump was functioning and oil was clean. dealer could also not explain lack of telltale warning lights for oil pressure, etc. prior to event occurring. estimated cost of repair $5,000. this is apparently not an uncommon problem. have reported to chrysler although car no longer under warranty. am awaiting response.*ak

While driving the car shut down with out warning or lights. total shutdown without power steering on busy road. the engine locked up due to engine sludge. the engine had to be replaced with new block because the poorly designed engine could not be rebuilt due to the fact that the cylinder walls are too thin. used engines are not available because the problem is so widespread.

My 1999 chrysler concorde had a complete engine failure. it happened suddenly & without any warning lights. i was stranded on i-40 in busy traffic. the dealership says that it "spun a bearing" & showed me some metallic glitter in the oil. the car now needs a new engine at a cost of approximately. $4500.00- 5000.00. i have a useless 1999 concorde with only 90k miles & i still owe $11.000. it had regular maintenance performed. *nlm

1999 chrysler concord with engine problems customer wants the blue book value for the car from the dealership**cc the consumer stated the engine had to rebuilt due to sludge build-up. a mechanic informed the consumer, the vehicle was built with a faulty oil pump, which was too small for the engine. the front seat belt retractor were replaced. *jb

The timing chain busted through the casing that houses it in the engine. the dealership told me that the cause could be a flaw in the chain link, and it caused severe damage to the rest of the engine, and that the engine must be replaced. estimated cost is $7000. my comments to them were, if it is a flaw in the chain, shouldn't it be covered under the warranty? they told me no. i'm trying to find out if there has been othe occurrances of this priblem, and what my recourse and next step should be.

Air conditioning continually goes out. as car has expired warranty, chrysler says they have no obligation to repair. i disagree. i believe that chrysler, and in my particular situation, has a faulty a/c system.

Driving down interstate 265 at 55 mph, engine just quit, causing a potentially deadly situation. when the engine quit, it lost power steering and brakes. car only has 70,000 miles. air conditioning quit working in may of 2003. *jb

The bolt that holds the fan and engine pulley came loose, causing no steering ability, almost resulting in an accident. dealer said the problem was caused by the bolt being tightened too hard. *ak
