2005 chrysler 300 gets stuck in park. i had the car repaired at a cost of over $300. this is a huge problem with these cars. do not understand why there has not been a recall.

Upon starting automobile to go shopping depress brake pedal to put transmission in reverse gear shift would not unlock could not get it out of park car had to be flat bedded to dodge dealer. for repair. *tr

Car stalls after refueling (even without overfilling). never has trouble starting up again and then drives normally after it stalled 3 times in a row over 5 miles from refueling station. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler 300. the contact stated that when shifting into park, the vehicle unexpectedly rolled forward. on a separate occasion the gear lever would not shift out of park. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the transmission cup plug was replaced. there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 05v460000(power train) however, the contact's vin was not included. the manufacturer was made aware of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 127,000.

I was intending to back out of my driveway when i was unable to move my floor shifter out of the park position. there was nothing i could do at this point. i had to make other arrangements for transportation. the cost of repair is estimated to be around $500.00. i have spoken both with the dealership and chrysler customer service. chrysler took my information including my vehicle mileage of 54000. i was told there was not anything they could do for me. a high number of other 2005 chrysler 300 owners have experienced this exact problem. it is a problem with the transmission shifter interlock lever. chrysler has issued customer satisfaction notification k39. their explanation on how they reach their determination as to which 2005 chrysler 300's they will service free of charge is unconscionable. i would like to mention that i also feel that this problem is a safety issue. i ask that the nhtsa research this fact. i can see this happening after a mother pulls to the side of the road to tend to her child. i can see this happening after i pull to the side of the road to tend to my ailing mother of 82. these are potentially dangerous situations. please look into this matter. it is unfair to the purchaser. it is unsafe for the public. thank you. *tr

My car was purchased in november 2004 and it is a 2005 one of the first models sold... there was a recall on the shifter plug my car not being able to go from the park position..i filled a claim with chrysler they called me and said my vin number was not recalled i am wondering why... my car was bought in november 2004 and it was a 2005...but they wont send me a letter or show me the vin numbers that were recalled. i am very dissatisfied with them at this point. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler 300. the contact stated that the parking gear failed to shift into drive. the vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

I went to the post office, parked and cut the car off. when i got ready to depart. i cut the car on and attempted to change the gear into reverse. the gear would not move into reverse. so i put the car back into drive, and had enough space to go forward. i drove home. when i arrived, the gear would not stay in park. the car start rolling and i had to cut the ignition off to stop it from rolling. the gear shift is still in drive. had to secure it in place by putting bricks behind car to keep it from rolling out of driveway. *tr

Drove to work fine but when i returned to the vehicle after work it would not release from "park". had to have vehicle towed. after researching online this seems to be a very common issue. not sure why there wasn't a recall? *tr

A common problem on all 2005-2007 chrysler 300. the interlock latch device spring hook broke and disabled the vehicle. the vehicle was stuck in park. chrysler refuses to acknowledge the problem on all vehicles and only recalled a select few made in certain areas. the problem occurs enough that private manufactures are making replacement part for this specific defect. see http://www.custombilletstore.com/genuine_billet_tech_pink_thingy_replacement_p/1028.htm. *tr

Submission from re recall k39 and exclusions. *tgw the consumer stated he experienced the exact problem that was addressed in the recall where the gear was stuck in park. the consumer was informed his vehicle didn't have the mopar replacement part installed prior to june 24, 2007, and therefore the recall did not apply to his vehicle. the consumer would like chrysler to acknowledge the defect and pay for the repairs. updated 04/30/13 updated 05/06/13 updated 06/10/13

On 3/9/2012 i went to drive my car, as i was putting the car in reverse i found that the gear shaft would not engage, i did everything to get it to engage, but it wouldn't budge, after a while i gave up and contacted the chrysler dealer who instructed me on how to get the bracket to move. after several attempts it (the bracket) moved, allowing for the gear shaft to move out of park. i took my car in for service and was told that the part might have been under recall, i contacted the chrysler corporation and was told that even though transmission cup plug bracket was under recall for certain chrysler, dodge, and jeeps my car didn't fall with in the parameter of the vin number. i paid for the repair. i would have agree to this had i not had this problem prior to the date above. once before the gear shaft wouldn't move, but someone helped me get it to move, that was several years ago. had i known about the recall then, i would have contacted the nhtsa sooner. the problem that i have with chrysler is that they know that this part is faulty, but the company is only choosing to fix the (bracket) on certain vehicles. what above the 1000's of chrysler 300 owners who have experienced the same problem, where is chrysler responsibility to us-left-holding-the-bag customers. my car wasn't free, i paid hard earn cash for my car and i want chrysler to honor its product. if there was a recall, and a multiple amount of customer have experience the same problem, then chrysler should be willing or made to help with the price of repairing the vehicle, even if those customers where not part of the recall. vehicles breakdown everyday and i truly aware of this, but i'm not the one who placed a faulty part in my car. this is not just above natural wear-n-tear, but about a problem that the manufacturer itself saw, and chose to only assist a selective few. this about fairness? *tr

Park lock out mechanism failed rendering vehicle not usable. the mount point on the mechanism failed so even the override device will not allow the car to shift out of park. chrysler has a recall on 05-07 vehicles of this type but they claim my 05 is not part of this recall (sb-10038199-2853) and that they will open a case. research online shows this as a very common issue. *tr

On july 17,2012 i drove my vehicle at approximately 6:30 a.m to take my daughter to camp. when i arrived home i parked the car. approximately 40 minutes later i got into the car, started it, and placed my foot on the brake to release my gear from the park position. as i did that, the gear would not move. i tried this approximately 5 to 10 times before giving up. i then contacted the chrysler dealer in new carrolton, md and inquired about the part. i was informed that i have a recall on my vehicle in regards to nhtsa campaign id number 05v460000 (power train:automatic transmission). after being informed of that information, i then proceeded to ask the rep. will that recall fix my gear from being stuck in the park position. i was placed on hold and when the rep. returned, she informed me that the mechanic said no. i made an appointment to have the recall work performed at a later time. i then called around to different mechanics and inquired about what the issue might be. i received feedback from at least 3 out of 5 mechanics who stated that it may be the brake sensor fuse being blown or it may be a solenoid that needs to be replaced. later on that evening i went to try and move the gear again and was unable to, so i removed the chrome panel that is around gear assembly and stuck a flat head screw driver towards the top and played around with it. as i was doing so, the gear shift moved from the park position. so now i have to ride around with a screw driver in order to get out of the park position. i feel this is a major safety concern because i have 2 young children and we could've been stranded somewhere. the failure mileage was approximately 102,600. will be getting repaired friday july 20,2012. chrysler should be covering this issue. *tr

The chrysler 300 would not shift out of park. after some research online it was determined that the transmission shifter interlock shifter lever was broken. there is also a k-39 recall issued by chrysler but my car does not fall under it. i spoke to chrysler and they are not willing to fix it. it is a safety issue because the spring that is broken prevents the car from being shifted out of park if the brake is not pressed. *tr

Started car and tried to put it in gear. could not get it out of park. a situation much talked about on line. the failure of the "transmission shifter interlock lever" commonly called "the pink thingy" on line some owners tell of having gotten a recall. i called my local chrysler dealer. he said it depended on where the car was built if there was a recall. imagine how happy that made me !!! *tr

The car is stuck in park in my driveway.it is an automatic transmission. i was told it is shift interlock latch that is plastic. i have ordered the replacement part in alloy, a dorman part # 924-706. i was told it is a recall, and called my dealership but alas my vin# was not included in the recall. i was also informed the same plastic part gets reinstalled into the vehicle for $200-475 fee at the dealership. it seems to be happening many times as the place i purchased the part said they order this part often due to the same make and model owners need to replace it themselves. i have looked up the recall and it is considered "the cup plug that retains the park pawl anchors shaft". daimlerchrysler recall no. e14. *js

On many occasions, my car has been stuck in park. i have googled this, and found that many other people have had this same problem with chrysler 300's. some of the cars were recalled, but of course, mine was not. however, i am having the same problem as the cars that were recalled. something under the gear shifter between the front seats is not working properly. in the past, it would come unstuck after a few minutes, but now, i think it is finally fully messed up! i have not been able to get my car out of park for the last three days. i've tried pulling the emergency brake (even though it was not applied), i've tried turning the car off and re-cranking it, i've tried pushing on the brake pedal as hard as i could while trying to shift out of park, i've tried shifting the gear while on accessory, with it running, with it in the on position... nothing has worked. i've even tried talking to it nicely! the shifter just won't move. :( after reading online forums about this problem, many people say that the part that messes up is plastic. something that gets moved as much as a gear shifter does should not be made out of plastic! i'm hoping many other people will complain about this, because i think chrysler should recall all of the cars with this same plastic (or faulty) part!!!!! *tr

Could not get the gear shift out of park - broken - a/t shift interlock lever replacement- part cheap - labor $80.00. *tr

In reference to my 2005 chrysler 300 - i went out to drive my car and it would not shift out of park. i found out it was a small pin in the shifter mechanism. as i researched online, i found this problem to be wide spread with chrysler 300 owners. the dealership knew what i was talking about the minute i described the problem. they said it is very common and they see this regularly. they also said that chrysler does not sell that particular part separately and the only way to fix it is to replace the entire unit. lastly, the dealership even questioned why this problem hasn't been recalled. i also called chrysler customer service to explain my problem (and mounting cost to tow my car and have it fixed). before i got the description out of my mouth, he said "your car won't shift out of park - right?" i said yes and he told me he hears it all the time. that chrysler has recalled this problem on a few years, but not most of them and not mine. he said he doesn't know why it hasn't been recalled, but he suggested i send a letter to them along with my bills. he didn't know if they'd pay, but it was better than nothing. he told me to reach out to your organization and see what you all said. *tr

2005 chrysler 300 won't come out of park - there is a defective part on car and chrysler i am told is aware of it - there is a pink plastic piece that has a spring to pull out of gear the spring becomes dislodged therefore not able to get out of park gear - had to take off the console in middle and shift assembly to replace the plastic arm which is broke that the spring hooks into *kb
