Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2015 Chrysler 200

There is often a significant delay with engaging drive after reversing and coming to a full stop. there is such a delay such as the usual slight increase in acceleration expected and needed to drive forward that when drive finally kicks in it clunks and jerks until it starts moving forward. this has happened quite often, more than a dozen times. the shifting also seems jerky sometimes while in drive when shifting between the lower gears. i suspect software issues of shift points perhaps or just bad communications between the computer systems that communicate to make the shifts occur at the right times. i made an actual report to chrysler within the last year or so at the same time i reported the issue with the speed control not shutting off (which is an active recall but they say our car doesn't have the problem and is not recallable) but not sure they made note of it in my vin file. i am going to call them again to see what the person shows in their notes...

Automatic transmission often slips/shutters when advancing through the lower gears on an uphill climb.

Changed battery and upon restarting it my 200 was in neutral and wilk not go into any other gear. the shift knob moves but the gears dont catch. park brake light is on and traction light i think?

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. while driving approximately 40-50 mph, the service transmission, service engine, and service parking brake warning indicators illuminated. the steering wheel became difficult to turn. in addition, the transmission shifted from automatic to auto/manual mode. the vehicle was turned off and restarted; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where diagnostic trouble codes: u0428 (invalid date received from steering) and u1408 (impulsive speed signal received, output shift data received) were located. the vehicle was not repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v470000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was informed of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 71,201.

Vehicle speed control. i've reported this before and chrysler insists our vehicle does not have this problem nor it is included in the recall. problem always occurs while speed control is on and going downhill. the rpm's will increase significantly in an apparent attempt to slow down the vehicle by shifting down to way too low of a gear. often rpm's will race near 5000+ and the scariest part is when you apply the brakes the speed control does not release. i have been the one driving when this has happened on half a dozen or more times. recently my wife was driving alone and experienced this problem and didn't know what to do when she quickly approached a slow moving vehicle and the speed control would not release. she has bladder issues and pee'd her pants, literally. luckily she has been in the vehicle before when this has happened and she thought quickly to move the vehicle into neutral and applied the brake which released the cruise control and allowed her to get her composure back. it was a close and scary call for her. again, we have reported this several times and there is a recall for this exact problem and chrylser says our car does not have the problem and is not included in the recall, which is a simple software upgrade which they have and doesn't cost them much for the dealership to apply. the last time this happened was just a few weeks ago saturday late afternoon may 18, 2019.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. while driving various speeds, the vehicle would not accelerate and the rpms increased. the contact shut off and restarted the vehicle and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by the dealer. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 78,000.

2015 chrysler 200s transmission failures. numerous times the gear would slip from drive to neutral while at stoplights. the dashboard would instruct me to shift into park the choose desired gear. that's if i'm lucky and the shift knob doesn't lock, preventing me from shifting into park or any other. numerous times it has disengaged from drive to neutral while driving on the highway at speeds ranging from 55 mph to 70 mph. having find a way to the shoulder with no power while activating the hazard lights has proven quite disturbing to maneuver through traffic. several times it has slipped out of drive while going through intersections leaving me disabled in the middle of busy roads at the mercy of oncoming traffic, hoping they brake in time. it has nearly been the cause of several wrecks having loss of power, steering wheel becomes hard to turn and i've nowhere to turn off of road for lack of shoulder or curbs creating obstacles. regardless of where it occurs , if the shift knob is locked, the car is not budging. it is locked in the transmission preventing any way of pushing it. i can't drive my son anywhere for fear it could result in something i'd rather not think of.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200s. while driving various speeds, the vehicle downshifted into neutral without warning. in addition, the service shifter and transmission warning indicators illuminated. the contact scheduled a diagnostic appointment with river front chrysler dodge jeep ram (200 hansen blvd, north aurora, il 60542, (630) 907-1700). the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 49,907.

Car shut off when driving twice says no recall but there is an issue under 100,000 miles i need a solution

Trouble began in may 2019. 'service transmission' comes up on display, check engine light illuminates, and the car does not shift correctly. it gets stuck into a higher gear, making it difficult to drive from a complete stop. sometimes turning the car off/on will clear the message and shift properly (albeit the check engine light is still on), and sometimes it takes a few hours before it will go away. eventually both the message and the check engine light will go away but eventually (sometimes minutes, hours, or after a few days) the trouble will persist. i took it into a chrysler dealership on 6/15/19 and they said the battery failed 2 of 3 times and replaced the battery and reprogrammed the tcm. total cost $312. this fix lasted three days. scheduled another appt at i10 dodge in indio, ca. for 8am. the message and cel will occur randomly. sometimes after immediately turning the car on, but most often while driving normally on city streets or the freeway. it doesn't matter whether i'm in drive mode or sport mode. the fact that the gears do not shift properly and get 'stuck' into a higher gear can be unsafe.

Ever since we got this car, the transmission does not shift smoothly, often very rough. we have taken it to the dealer a few times and they always tell us this is how the transmission is supposed to act. i think nhtsa needs to look further into this bc no transmission that is this new should be experiencing the rough shift, slip, etc like we have experienced.

When driving my vehicle from the stop position on the street or at a traffic light and i begin to accelerate the vehicle hesitates as the engine rpms increase. it takes about 2-5 seconds for the transmission to catch up with the desired speed. when driving over 45 - 55mph or higher on the highway there is a distinct humming sound coming from the front of the vehicle. a constant humming sound. when i decrease in speed the transmission jerks as if it doesn't want to go into its lower gears. this problem has been occurring with the vehicle since i purchased it used in august of 2017 in hawaii.

Vehicle looses power while driving; both on the interstate and country roads. turns itself off. transmission freezes between 4th and 6th gears. and won't shift, causing loss of power.

As i was driving home on the highway the check transmission light came on, i turned into a gas station and attempted to put the car in park and was unable too. a notification popped up stating the car was not in park and to apply parking brake to prevent car from rolling. i then put the car back in d but was unable to move, i then placed the car in r but also was not able to move. after attempting to put the car in park again with no success, i tried to turn the car off, this also was unsuccessful. the car would only go to acc, i was forced to leave the car in this mode until it cut off on its own. i returned to the car the next day and was able to start it, upon starting the car was in p and allowed me to go d and move the vehicle. within 10 feet of driving on the street, the check transmission light reappeared, i then pulled into a parking space on the street and turned the vehicle off. this has been happened in this car at least 7 times and i have been back to the dealership i purchased the car from at least 5 times. every time it was either a simple fix or they could not find anything wrong. i am now out of my warranty and may be forced to pay for a transmission to be fixed. i am risking the life of my 4 year old child every day i use this car. there is a recall for this exact issue but somehow my car was not included.

Transmission started acting up, jerking, stuck in 4th gear and also in 7th gear while driving 55 miles an hour. numerous times, also caused me to wreck hit a trash can because it was either that it be ran over by a semi, i took the lesser of the 2 evils, my car has never had a leak of any sorts, keep it in a garage when not driving, had it towed because it wouldn't go into drive or reverse to fuqua motors dunkirk indiana because of the transmission issues, when i got it back it seemed ok for about 7 days, then i noticed it jerking again, took it back to fuqua they worked on it again, lasted about a month noticed it jerking and getting stuck in 4th and 7th gear again causing me to almost wreck on a highway, took it back they supposedly fixed it, then after having it home for a bit i had a liquid all over my garage floor found out it was transmission fluid so i took it back again, they claimed it was fluid overage from transmission fluid so they hosed it down said they did the work for free supposedly all this work fell under power train warranty yet they wouldn't cover the cost of my rentals and i own a business that requires travel, so i spent over a thousand on rentals. now transmission is jerking again, fluid all over my garage floor again, almost wrecked on my way home driving it, now it's been parked in my garage undrivable so i have once again rented a vehicle, needless to say the power train warranty hasn't been honored, has caused me to wreck and i have a cracked windshield and big dent on front of car, this is my business car my livelihood, my only means to get my daughter to the children's hospital in indianapolis, i've always owned jeeps, dodges and this was my first chrysler, i'm so disappointed that my power train warranty was never honored nor were my rentals paid during which times the dealership had my car, car is doing it again with leaks of fluid.

Looks like when i speed up gears feels to heavy like gears not changing when is supposed to, feel like doesn't release last gear

I started to feel the jerk randomly while the car switched gears. it happens sporadically but when it does, the car feels like it ran into a wall and jerks hard.

Transmission jerks when shifting and lunges forward during braking

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. while driving 55 mph, the service transmission warning indicator illuminated while switching into fourth gear. when the failure occurred, the vehicle would not accelerate over 50 mph. the contact stated that the vehicle had to be turned off and restarted in order to function normally. the vehicle was taken to sumter chrysler dodge jeep ram (2662 broad st, sumter, sc 29150, (803) 469-9030) prior to the failure to be repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 16v529000 (power train); howver, the failure recurred. the contact called the dealer back and was informed that the body sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 93,243.

The exact issue i am having is a recall issue on the same model and make of my car. it is about the transmission shifting into neutral while driving. my vin did not become a part of the initial recall but is currently experiencing this issue. i have gotten the modules updated but the issue has still persists.

The car goes into neutral by itself while driving on the city street. warning light indicated i needed my transmission serviced while driving on the highway then went away after i let the car sit. transmission slipped during that time causing the car not to be able to accelerate properly to keep up with the speed limit. key having problems with my left front tire suspension. battery died out the blue while parked. key fob says its undetected but i have it in my hand. i have to put the key directly on the ignition button then push the button to start the car. i wanted to also indicate suspension. the car rattles while driving on regular bumpy roads. my left tire has an issue the mechanic couldn't figure out.

When coming from highway speeds down to zero, the car will jerk hard as it downshifts, giving it a feeling of jolting forward for short and sudden bursts with every downshift. my concern is that it could potentially be a danger if an emergency situation where stopping distance could be increased due to the jolting forward unexpectedly. not only that, it could be causing earlier wear and tear on braking systems as well as internal components of the transmission it's self. also, when at a stop with the vehicle in drive, it can sometimes shake vigorously, being very obvious on the steering wheel as you can see it shaking, as well as feel it. once the vehicle is switched into neutral, all shaking stops. automatic 9-speed. 34,xxx miles

While driving the car a warning ⚠️ sign appears to place your car in p (park). due to the engine shutting off out of nowhere.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. while driving 20 mph, the vehicle became difficult to shift into gear and the rpms increased. also, the check engine indicator illuminated and the performing shifting and 4wd unavailable message was displayed. the contact called ourisman chrysler dodge jeep ram of bowie (2406 crain hwy, bowie, md 20716, (855) 822-3228) and a service appointment was scheduled. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 64,467.

Automatic transmission does not always shift upon starting out

Note this did not all happen in the same day you are separate occurrences. first issue car shift itself in the park when i was at a red light on a city street would not shift back into. second airbag light keeps coming on telling me to service airbag system comes on and off. 3rd i lose all power to electrical components. i was driving at night on the highway i lost all power to my headlights interior lights radio everything electrical.

I purchased my 200 in 2017, the abs indicator light will not go off, there actually a recall but, my vin doesn't show it. my emergency park has ignites on its while stationary at a stop sign and while in traffic at a red light, thankfully there wasn't any semi-trucks behind me because, there would have been a fatality. the car has lost power while in motion at least 3 times. just recently my car become stuck in neutral and the car would not move. i called chrysler, they stated that it was a powertrain issue and it would be covered with my warranty, so they paid for the tow to the dealership, the dealership had the car for a day, they counterclaimed what chrysler stated, they claimed that it was because, the battery was just replaced so the computer needed to be re-set but, this happened on 2/12/2019 and my battery was replaced on 9/2018. there was a recall in 8/2015 for this exact same issue. i talked to the guys at my regular service station and as soon as i told them what happen they knew that i was lied to by the local chrysler dealership.

On saturday 29/9/2019 i was getting ready to go to work from fremont, ca to san jose, ca and my car wouldn't start. i had to press the push start several times to get it to start,. once it did start when i turned on the defroster it started shaking and turned off. i had to let it idle more than 15 minutes before it warmed up. i made it around the block about a quarter mile before i came to a stop sign and the car shut off. i managed to turn it back on and pull over. it continued to stall until i got back home. since then it's been shaking when on idle and it jerks between gears. while on the 880 freeway the car will decelerate during peak traffic hours causing me to have to pull over to the slow lanes to avoid getting rear ended. i'm taking to the dealership for diagnostics.

The car has shuts off while driving. i bought the car used last year in march 2018. it had issues w/jerking between gears and "hopping", but several months ago, just shut off while driving 75 mph on a highway (twice in 15 mins). dealership attempted to fix. but, its back to same problem. it shut off tuesday while out of town at a hotel while pulling out onto a 5 lane road. supposedly fixed, and then shut off on interstate 695 around baltimore last night while two lanes of traffic over. shutting off with -0- warning while traveling on busy interstates is extremely dangerous and possible life threatening. per research, this seems to be a major issue for this car, not sure why nhtsa has not recalled it yet.

When driving between 30 and 45 mph, the vehicle shifts hard between gears. most recently another problem occurred l, while pushing on the accelerator to pass or accelerate quickly, the transmission does not engage, leaving the vehicle unable to accelerate. the engine will rev and the tachometer will increase but the car will not move. if the driver was trying to move out of the way of a vehicle coming twords them they would be helpless and this could cause serious injury or death to all drivers. i have taken my vehicle to an approved fca mechanic, and was told they could not duplicate the problem, or the transmission needed a reprogramming. i have had this service done now 7 times and no guarantee that it won't happen again.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. when the vehicle was started, it stalled and jerked. the contact had to allow the engine to warm up for approximately 30 minutes before it operated normally. the contact noticed that engine oil spilled into the spark plug chamber. the vehicle was taken to car town kia usa (3120 lexington road, nicholasville, ky 40356, (859) 887-4737) where the failure was confirmed. the throttle body, oil exhaust manifold, two engine sensors, and catalytic converter were cleaned and repaired, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to dan cummins chevrolet buick (1020 martin luther king jr. boulevard, paris, ky 40361, (859) 340-1649) where engine oil was found in the spark plug chamber again. the dealer cleaned the spark plug chamber and stated that the vehicle required an oil change every 3,000 miles. the dealer further stated that if the oil change was not performed, the engine would lose oil and the oil would flood into the spark plug chamber. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 58391349. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 83,309. *bf consumer stated dealer had us perform 1,000 mile oil consumption test by sealing dip stick/ oil access points and with our concern/ objection due to how the car quit on the hwy previous, but we were to drive for 1,000 miles and return to see results. at 884 miles we returned and the car with no sign of leaks used over a quart of oil. valve cover-spark plug tube seal; basket:ignition coil; gasket; cylinder headcover under 5/22/19 power train warranty. chysler manufacturer stated they would cover cost and rental car. they stated they would cover catalystic coverter replacement because the repair was done by an uncerified mechanic where we bought the car.*jb

Takata recall.. i went to galena twice for the same problem. each time they've told me they fixed the problem. my service park brake comes on and so does the service transmission, it comes on when i start the car and doesn't allow me to shift gears. this is the second time i've had to deal with this problem. i am borderline wanting to go forth with a lawsuit because i fear my life is in danger when i drive this car. but i have no choice. i have three jobs and i'm a full time student so i need transportation that's reliable and i feel like with this car it's [xxx] far from it. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Incident ha happened several times. while going in traffic at lower speeds 25 to 45mph the transmission will not shift when you try to accel to a higher speed. we have to slow speed down and try again to accelerate, most times this works.

Tamara recall i have a 200s model purchased brand new. i first started having issues with the car maybe 20,000k miles in. when the car is sitting in park the transmission slips and automatically goes into neutral, then forces the car to be set in park. at this point the car cannot be moved and just shows the check transmission light. this particular incident has happened 3 times. on numerous occasions the car has lost power while in motion, the car also struggles to go into the next gear almost daily. i have been to the same chrysler that i purchased the car from numerous times. the first time my computer needed to be updated, the second time it was the transmission module, 3-5 it was an update now i'm back to the module acting up. the transmission light just came on again yesterday, i wake up today and the light is gone and of course chrysler tells me the can't do anything without a code being present. i've lost so many days of work with this car it's ridiculous, and since the car holds no value i'm stuck with negative equity!!! please help

My car sometimes revs while going 10 and under, without me pushing the gas. and when i changed gears it slips and jumps

Active grill shutter error code. ags shutters are easily broken, these shutters are not meant to withstand ohio winters. a small amount of ice build up caused the shutters to brake and/or got stuck closed. i've had to remove the ags completley to discover every shutter was broke. without the ags working correctly the check engine light is on 100% of the time and the automatic car starter is canceled out. it was a normal winter day when i discovered the problem. my car was stationary and the driveway.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. while driving various speeds, the vehicle would not immediately accelerate. when depressing the accelerator pedal, the rpms increased before the vehicle suddenly lunged forward. on multiple occasions, the vehicle stalled while driving without warning. the cause of the failures was not determined. falkner chrysler (6643 carlisle pike, mechanicsburg, pa) and the manufacturer were both notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 50,000. the vin was invalid.

The car will not shut off, it say it is not in park

Vehicle transmission does not function correctly. severe jerking movements upon acceleration and breaking. vehicle is very unsafe to drive in situations that require left or right hand turns into traffic. extremely unreliable acceleration! vehicle will lose power in middle of turn with oncoming traffic. several near misses when attempting to make a left-hand turn in multi-lane highways. simply put, i do not feel safe driving this vehicle. dealership has serviced this vehicle multiple times with no resolution. this issue is an everyday occurrence.

While driving at about 25 mph, my car lost power with no warning. all of a sudden, i saw the error message "shift to park to start". when attempting to restart, it hesitated in doing so.
