We have classified the 5 complaints from 1999 Chevrolet Venture about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL into the following categories.
My wife was driving through town with our daughter and her parents and as she was coming out of town started to press on the accelerator to get up to speed. all of a sudden the accelerator pedal went to the floor and the throttle was wide open and the pedal was hanging there and was inoperable. fortunately she wasn't going very fast and was able to put the vehicle in neutral and use the brakes to slow down enough to get off the side of the road and get the vehicle stopped and then her father was able to get under the hood and get the engine to stop revving. the vehicle was towed to the dealership where it was purchased and the accelerator cable was replaced because it had broken. the old part may still be available at the dealership, but i'm not sure.
While driving, the throttle cable broke and vehicle suddenly accelerated out of control, in the process of trying to stop the vehicle, the brake rotors overheated and burned out, consumer was finally able to regain control of vehicle. *jb
While driving accelerator cable unraveled and disengaged with no prior warning. accelerator pedal went to floor. consumer s had to press down hard on brakes. then, tires burned, and heard heavy knocking in engine. also, had to turn off vehicle to stop it. contacted dealer, and dealer stated had never seen this happen, and it was not covered under warranty. *ak
While traveling at various speeds engine will start to over rev for no reason. pressing brakes does not seem to help. dealer has repaired entire wiring system, and the problem still occurs.*ak

Minivan failed when it raced away out of control at extremely high speed, with owner at the driver_x0012_s controls, as a result of a small part in a hvac vent support loosening and falling into the apparatus controlling the accelerator cable, causing the accelerator to be stuck in a position of high speed acceleration. owner tried to stop the minivan and could do so only by jamming on the brake with both feet while operating the vehicle up an inclined exit ramp. *ak
