Passenger side air bag sensor isn't registering someone sitting in the seat, when stationary and in motion.
In passenger front seat when someone is sitting there the seatbelt will just undo on its own at times. also the person will weight over 100lbs and the air bag light indicator will go to on and off.
My car has a light on for the airbag system (which remains on the entire time the car is running) but when taken to the shop to have it read, no codes are showing. after research, i see this could potentially be a software problem, although my specific car has not been recalled. i have concerns with the airbag(s) deploying unnecessarily or not deploying at all in an accident (according to the information in the owner's manual).

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chevrolet trax. while driving at 45 mph, another vehicle across the street ran their stop sign at 45 mph and crashed head on into the contact's front side of the vehicle. the air bags did not deploy. the contact sustained long term back injuries that required medical attention. the party that crashed into the contact was not injured. it was unknown if a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed the contacts residence and then to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed that the frame, grill, a-frame, hood, and a control arm needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. the crash was not in relation any open recall. the failure mileage was 27,000.
