Problems with 2014 Chevrolet Traverse VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

2014 traverse will suddenly shut down and not move. flashes service stabilitrac, traction control off, reduced engine power. my vehicle has shut down multiple times including driving on the freeway with my two children in the car. after turning the car off and finally being able to turn it back on again, i am able to get the traction control to say on and to move my car. this last time the steering wheel locked up and my car wouldn't start for almost 10 minutes, with me and my children sitting in the middle of an intersection.

My vehicle will first stall and slow down with 'engine power reduced' and something about the traction control and stability track going across the dash right before my vehicle stops on me. this happens frequently at any moment and now i am unable to start it back up. i was told by pep boys that it is an electrical problem, with codes reading a shortage in the fuse box. i checked the web for any recalls and saw that others were having the same issues, yet no recalls. this is dangerous because my vehicle stops at any moment in the middle of a drive, even on the highway. now i am without reliable transportation in my 2014 traverse. i love my vehicle, but gm needs to fix this issue.

Tl* the contact was calling on behalf of the owner of a 2014 chevrolet traverse. the contact stated that while the driver was reversing from a parking space, the vehicle unintended accelerated crashing into a parked vehicle. the brake pedal was depressed but failed to stop the vehicle. the vehicle accelerated forward and then reversed into oncoming traffic where it crashed into a vehicle that was driving at an unknown speed. the vehicle then crashed into a pole which fell onto a parked vehicle. it was unknown if any warning lights illuminated. the air bags failed to deploy. there were four children in the vehicle at the time of the failure. an eleven-year-old was seated at the front passenger side and two eight month old's rear facing in the rear of the vehicle along with an thirteen-year-old. all three rear passengers seat belts unlatched. the two infants sustained head injuries and the thirteen-year-old sustained a left knee, right thigh, and forehead injuries. the front passenger sustained unknown injuries as well. the driver did not sustain any injuries. the front passenger and the three rear passengers received medical attention. there were two individuals in the parked vehicle that the pole fell on top which sustained concussion injuries. in addition, the vehicle that was crashed into from oncoming traffic sustained unknown severe injuries. a police report number: [xxx] was filed. the vehicle was towed to an impound lot. it was unknown if the vehicle was destroyed or taken to a dealer. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened case number: [xxx]. the failure mileage was unknown. *tr *js parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*jb

My car decided recently to start acting weird and the engine power went low and traction control went off and then my car would barely run. it says it could be the throttle body. it had done it twice since saturday and starts running ok afterwards but want to see what's wrong and why it just started doing this. never had any trouble till then.

Driving on a main rd only going about 40mph and the cars start beeping and stability traction light comes on and engine power source reduced pops up. the car starts jerking and shaking like it was going to shut off out of no where

Fuse box-! with no warning, a system was triggered to drop engine power dramatically plunging from 65 to below 20. this happened to me 2 times on a major highway surrounded by trucks endangering my family as i could not climb above 20mph and had to scramble to get over and not be a hazard. while the dealer initially couldn't find the problem- chevy mechanics told them to check for a specific tripped fuse- that ruins the whole box. the problem is so prevalent- the part is indefinitely on back order. this is a potentially deadly situation.

This past friday, i was traveling in the highway at 60mph then the car starts beeping, with immediate loss of power within seconds, down to 20mph. error messages start flashing, the car starts shaking. almost got hit by the person behind me as i wasn't braking, so they, nor myself, had no indication my car was about come down to a crawl. i pulled over, turned off the car, gave it a minute, restarted, and the car was back to normal and i was able to get home. the engine light remained, but it went away before i could get it to the dealer (within 3 miles), dealer is around 8 miles away. this is the 4th incident with this similar issue. once we were waiting on a turning lane, the car started beeping, shaking, displaying errors on the dashboard, loss of power again to a crawl. we pulled over to the first parking lot in the intersection. turned of the car, restarted and it was fine again. then again right after putting gas. got into the car to leave the gas station, car was beeping, shaking, displaying error messages on the dash. turned it off, restarted and it was fine. another time, i was approaching a light to make a right turn, the engine stalled right before i was to turn. i had to put it on part to restart the car, once it started, it ran fine. i'm afraid to drive the car in the highway. i have a 45 minute commute to work everyday. i always have to keep to the right lane in case the car acts up. the error messages that display are "service stability tract, engine power reduced, tracking control turned off" and maybe one other one. i've seen the message boards and it's happening to many owners and for several years! it is dangerous to drive like this. this should have been addressed years ago.

While driving the car, it happens to loose power and it is very difficult to wheel and move the car . it stops in the middle of the freeway and service traction control comes up , then service stabilitytrak and then traction control off . it has to be turned off and then wait and restart it again , with a check engine

While driving, car slows to 25mph and dash flashes between the following warnings: service stabilitrak, traction control off, service traction control, power engine reduced. the check engine light and traction control light also turn on at this time . this has happened 5 times so far. i have been driving on the highway and on side streets when this happens. this is very dangerous and could cause an accident easily.

My wife has a 2014 chevy traverse with 60,000. the traction control and stabilitrack warnings came on the dashboard. this happened 3 times in four weeks. once the power was reduced and the car would not accelerate. we were on a city street with light traffic and once the car stopped completely. thank god she was in a parking lot when it happened. i have taken it to the dealer each time we get the messages. the said that they could not find anything wrong and come back if it happens again. the changed a fuse on the last visit. it has happened again and it is in the shop right now.

Vehicle was in motion when suddenly lost power and started flashing these warnings, traction control service, park assist off, stability control service.

Service stabilitrack/ traction control off display on dashboard while car is in motion. car will jerk while accelerating and cruise control doesn't work. it will reset and work properly after turning car off for 1-3 min and restarting. it happens periodically on several occasions at various times and on trips of various lengths. there seems to be no pattern or precursor for the malfunction.

While driving the reduce engine speed, traction control, stabili-trac, and the check engine light flashes. the engine speed was reduced to a crawl. this has happened three times now and the speed doesn't seem to make a difference 30mph - 65mph. while we have been able to turn the car off and get it to drive home after 5 mins, it is dangerous because it happens while driving at higher speeds in the middle of traffic.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet traverse. while driving approximately 55 mph, the check engine and esc warning indicators illuminated and the vehicle lost acceleration. the contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. after waiting approximately 30 minutes, the vehicle was restarted and operated normally. the vehicle started to lose acceleration again and was driven to the contact's residence. the next day, the contact drove the vehicle to apple chevrolet in tinley park, illinois where it was diagnosed that the throttle pedal accelerator sensor failed and needed replacement. the contact stated that the same failure occurred in february of 2017 and the vehicle was repaired by the same dealer at that time. the vehicle was not repaired for the recent failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

While driving on the highway the traction control, stabilitrak warning indicator comes on and then immediately reduces power to the vehicle. this is extremely dangerous. you could be driving normal highway speeds of 70 mph and then all of a sudden the vehicle goes into this traction control, stabilitrak mode and basically shuts the car down. this has happened several times to me and will only clear this mode if the vehicle is turn off and sits for a while and then restarted.

Engine power reduced, service stabiltrak, traction control off messages appear after driving car over 30 min. engine light comes on and stays on along with stabilik track light. no codes being rpeorted when taken to dealer 2x. happened 5x in a 20 minute drive, doing 55-60mph and drops to 20 mph with hardly any steering ability. battery gauge drops below average, car idols like it is going to stall. pull over, turn key off, rest starts up again with engine light still on. very dangerous situation. cleaned throttle from any build up (hardly any) checked fuses, however did not check wiring to fuse box (may be the issue) problem has been going on since june 2017. dealer depending to much on diagnostic code reader, which it is not recording. only one was p1682 and they said it was fine

Was driving on the intestate when car started to put and not wanna move stabilitrake and traction control lights came on check engine light flashed and would not accelerate at all with my child in car is very unsafe and keeps happening and dealership can not find anythibg wrong this is clearly a problem and needs fixed

Car lost throttle control. engine remained running, but car just lost power with no throttle response. has happened several times now at different speeds. dealership cleaned throttle body and reset cpu, but it happened again the next day, turning vehicle off letting it sit for a minute does remedy the problem temporarily, but eventually happens again with no warning which could be very dangerous on the highway. date below was the last time it happened, i would have to look for the first time which was over a year ago after we had the break booster replaced under warranty. the traction control light comes on when this happens.

I bought my 2014 traverse used in february 2015 with appox 25,000 miles. had no problems until december 2016 with appox 58,000 miles. the same problem has happened 4 times between 12/28/16 and 2/9/17. each time it happened i was driving on city streets and it was a few days after it rained. i only bring up the rain because the first time i took to dealer, the service adviser immediately looked to see if i had a sunroof because he said the description of my problem was similar to a traverse sunroof problem where water was getting in the vehicle. when at a stop or reduced speed the vehicle vibrates, loss of traction control message flashes, loss of stability flashes, engine power reduce flashes and the check engine light goes on. the first 3 times this happened, my first instinct was to pull over and turn vehicle off. each time i did this it started up with no problem but the check engine light remained on. i took it to a dealer each time who could not duplicate the problem. after the 3rd time, i called gm and a case number was opened. i was advised to purchase onstar (not an acceptable solution) and told that if it happened again to drive directly to a gm dealer without shutting the vehicle off. it happened again on 2/9/17 while driving appox 25 mph in morning traffic. i drove straight to a gm dealer at a speed of 20 mph in a 50 mph zone. i felt very unsafe. on 2/14 a diagnosis was made - replace the engine computer (covered under warranty) and the under hood fuse block (not covered under warranty and a $725 repair). as of 3/1/17, i was told by my dealer's service adviser that the under hood fuse block is on a national back order and he is unsure when the part will arrive. i left a voicemail for a gm california rep that has been in contact with me since a case was opened up. i left a message after business hours but it's now 1 pm and he has not returned my call.

Engine power reduced, stability track loss lights came on and my vehicles engine power came to a stop with my children in the car with my wife on the hwy. could not move the vehicle. dealership can not figure out the issue, only found multiple codes from the past and still could not solve the issue. gm needs to stand by their product and replace these vehicles asap or fix this issue. lawsuits will be filed.

Car lost power on highway due to service stabilizer message. then the dealership informed me that my power steering was leaking and needs a 2400 repair which i see is covered by service bulletin sb-10052379-9767 but they say my vin number isn't covered. *tr

I was sitting at a light and heard chimes. the vehicle display showed service traction control, service stabilitrak and traction control turned off. when the light changed the vehicle would not move. there was some kind of engine loss but it did not stall out. the radio and the air were on and working fine. i tried many attempts multiple times to get the car to move but it would not move. this included putting it in park and also turning it on and off. the warnings continued to flash. then after one attempt i felt it start to move at an extremely low rate of speed. as i was turning into a parking lot i felt something catch and the vehicle started moving at a normal speed. i turned the vehicle on and off again once i was in the parking lot. the engine light appeared but the service stabilitrak and service traction control did not display again. i know for a fact the engine light was not on when i was unable to move the vehicle. i took the vehicle to the dealer and they were unable to duplicate the problem. there was nothing done to the vehicle and i was told that they have to duplicate it. i was also told this will occur again, the problem will not go away but get progressively worse over time and hopefully the next time the vehicle will not be able to start. i checked nhtsa website and there seems to be a number of complaints made for the exact same thing with many makes and models. this is a lease vehicle and i did contact gm and have a case number. i understand cars breakdown but what i don't understand is that a serious safety issues needs to be duplicated before a part can be replaced. i find it hard to believe there is not a recommended fix for this.

Was driving down the freeway all of sudden the car message center said reduce engine speed stabilink off and traction control off and the check engine light came on also..so i was doing 65 and all off sudden ithe car went to 40..almost got rear ended a and into a crash

Was driving on interstate at 75 mph, about 80 miles from my destination, with cruise control on. switched the bright lights on and the cruise control turned off, power locks started locking and unlocking repeatedly, headlights started flashing on and off. the whole dashboard instrument lights turned on (check engine, change oil, abs, battery light, stabilitrak etc) when i attempted to press gas accelerator it was locked in place and would not move, vehicle stalled in interstate traffic with my children and i in car. was able to merge onto shoulder, placed vehicle in park turned ignition to off position then restarted vehicle. was able drive rest off way without turning on bright headlights or cruise control. when i got off interstate onto highway with no other vehicles i placed cruise control on and flipped on bright headlights and the vehicle did the same thing (gas pedal, headlights, instrument panel and locks) again pulled over restarted car and continued driving with no issue ( no cruise or brights used) i then took car to dealership next morning. the dealership was unable to replicate said occurrence after 6 days in shop.vehicle was sent home with us with no solution.we have had vehicle not quite 2 months.do not feel safe having my family in it. complaint made to manufacturer (chevrolet gm) they stated they had received no similar complaints and are unable to provide a fix. was told if vehicle repeats occurrence to try to video it and return to shop. unhappy with this situation all the way around.

While accelerating to 40 mph, the vehicle suddenly started vibrating followed by stability control and traction error messages, the check engine light on, a burning smell due to random braking as part of the control and an engine down power. this incident is similar to many others reported over a period of years and is unacceptable from a safety stand point when my entire family is within the vehicle. i will not accept a ridiculous explanation from the dealer. honestly, i want another vehicle. i knew chevy would be trouble.
