I have an 06 trail blazer & i have had nothing but problems with the driver side window controls i am unable to use the keyless entry or unlock the doors with driver door or even put down the windows in my truck & this is not a good thing if i have to wonder if my driver door is going to start on fire or not. also the drive side module has burn marks on it as of right now i have been lucky with no fires in the door but if this did me or someone in my family could be seriously injured because of this faulty part & for this one part to cause so many problems to so many people i think that this needs to get looked at & fix now be fore something tragic happens to someone. *tr

Control panel in driver's side door shorting out: window mostly would not go down, but if it did go down, it would not go up till you shut off the car and restarted. heated seat would come on all by it's self. discovered 1 morning side rearview mirror "re-adjusting" it's self, car was off. occasional smells of hot wire. the fuse to control panel was taken out before anything else went wrong. *js

Driver side window switch had a burning smell and the functions of the window, driver side mirror and automatic door do not work. upon inspecting the switch it was noticed the bottom of the circuit board had melted on the left side portion. *tr

The driver side power window switch has failed. windows, door locks, power mirrors will not operate. *js

While driving our gas gauge went down to empty even though we had a full tank. this posed a safety hazard as we were then unable to determine how much gas we actually had. it seems the fuel gauge is faulty. this could lead to running out of gas while driving causing a potential accident. *tr

My fuel indicator has all sorts of mis-readings. examples: reads empty with low fuel light on when just filled, begins to read somewhere near 3/4 at a mileage point, (50), that it usually reads full. very annoying and distracting to driver. distracts the drivers attention to driving. dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *kb

The fuel gauge read 3/4 of a tank so we did not stop to get gas, thinking we had enough to get home. 3min later we ran out on the hwy with 4 children in the car 2 that are under the age of 2 . *tr

Started vehicle, went to lower drivers side window and it would not go down. master window controls as well as outside mirror controls and remote keyless locking/unlocking of drivers door were no longer functional. researched the most likely problem and discovered many other owners experiencing trouble with the "drivers door module". i pulled mine out of the door and discovered the module was melted and burned and it was severe enough to leave burn marks on the insulation inside the door. the entire switch burned out and appeared to melt/smolder inside the door. not sure if this happened the instant the switch was activated or if it happened sometime else while parked. called the dealer and they acknowledged that "they replace these all the time" and were happy to sell me one to for over $500 installed/programmed. i declined because i could not get a satisfactory answer as to why a fuse didn't stop this from occurring and causing such an expensive piece of electronic equipment to catch fire inside my garage. upon reading of an investigation by the nhtsb tonight, i feel compelled to let you know this is a dangerous situation that needs immediate fixing. by the dealers own admission these are replaced frequently. gm didn't acknowledge the fuel sending unit issue until after many people were inconvenienced or injured and it appears they are doing the same with this situation. beyone the obvious fact that this is a faulty part, please initiate a recall on this before it catches someones home on fire while parked in the garage. *tr

While driving my 2006 chevy trailblazer i noticed the strong smell of an electric fire. almost immediately after noticing the smell smoke began to come out of the door panel on the drivers side. by the time we were able to pull off the road onto a side street (about 30 seconds) the smell and smoke had increased considerably. we had the vehicle towed to a repair shop and we were told the drivers side window switch went bad and caught fire. we had to have the electrical replaced on the entire driver's side of the vehicle. i noticed that this same issue has been reported by others for chevy trailblazer's of the same model year and would request this issue continue to be investigated in the event a recall is necessary. *tr updated 6/26/12 *cn

While driving down the road the headlights will start flickering the traction control lights will come on it the dash and all of the buttons on the drivers door will stop working and the rear heater will only work when it wants too the power light on the rear heater will not even come on then your driving along and it will light up and start working the only way to get the buttons on the door to work again and the lights in the dash to go off is to pull over and shut the truck off and then restart it up again but you may be doing this again with in the hour if still driving and if you don't look for those lights on in the dash you could be in trouble cause if they stay on long enough you will go to stop and the brake paddle will go to the floor and you won't stop but if you quickly hit the brake again it stops the truck is extremely dangerous to drive anymore it scares me every time i get in it i think there should be a recall on these trucks from what i have seen online alot of people are having the same problems and if i hit someone because of this thing i will sue gm for making junk. *tr

Pe12003 my trailblazer 06 window automatically went up and i could smell burning, i made the kids get out of the car and i had my dad search. the door panel was popped off, the switch had melted and burned a hole into the white insulation, now nothing works on the trailblazer driver side door. i notified the cac and sent pictures. they told me there was no recall on the vehicle. i don't have the money to get it fixed so it is still not functioning. *tr updated 6/26/12 *cn

The gas gauge on my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer began to show an empty tank when i filled up, after driving about 50 miles the gauge would properly show the amount of gas i had in the tank until the next fill up. the problem has gotten worse and i have read that other trailblazer owners are having the same problem. the defect seems to be common, expensive to repair, and should be the responsibility of chevrolet. *tr

There was a burning smell in the car and then the high setting on the air fan speed stopped working. then about a month later the second to highest speed stopped working also. i opened my glove when my wife was driving and then the highest setting started working again, then stopped working a few minutes later. i looked in the dash behind the glove box and found that there was a connector for the fan motor controller was heating up and started melting. i checked the connection and inside the connector was burnt and blackened. i contacted general motors about my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. they setup an appointment at the nearest chevrolet dealer and had it checked. they found that the fan motor connector was bad and that the fan motor controller was bad also, they contacted general motors and told them it wasn't a defect and it was not a safety hazard. i cannot believe that the connector almost catching fire is not a fire hazard or a defect. they wanted to replace the connector and the motor controller. i denied the service because they wanted to charge me $365.00 to do so. when i found the parts elsewhere for $75.00 and im going to do the repairs myself. i have pictures of the burnt connector and fan motor controller. i will be repairing the issue once the parts are delivered. i am also experiencing the fuel level problem also , the fuel gauge says its empty when i fill it up. *kb

A 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the air conditioning unit, harness and the master switch on the drivers side window failed. the check engine light illuminated whenever the vehicle was turned off. the master switch malfunction prevented all the windows from working properly. only 1 speaker works radio plays at low volume. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ls. the contact stated that while rolling down the front drivers side window, smoke began to rise from the door panel. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the control module in the front drivers side door melted and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. the contact also stated that the fuel gauge would display improper readings after refueling. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the fuel sending unit failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 93,600.

2006 chevrolet trailblazer, 4dr, lt, 4wd. fuel gauge stopped working. fill up tank, gauge goes up to full, but then falls back down to empty. i do not know the level of fuel in my vehicle. appears to be a common problem among 2003-2006 trailblazers. have ran out of fuel on the road. most likely fuel sensor or cluster. *tr

Initially the interior lights as well as the head lights will flicker while the car is running in park. the drivers side window stopped working in april 2012. the other three windows continued to work. june 2012 the radio began to cut out when hitting a bump in the road. the dash radio lights would go blank and the clock reset to 12:00. this occurred on at least 4-5 occasions. other times when hitting a bump the radio would make a static cut out sound but wouldn't fully go out. july 2012 on 3-4 different occasions all of the dash lights came on at once while driving down the road, the gas gauge dropped to empty on a full tank and the ding ding ding sound came on while driving. august 19, 2012, after driving about 8 miles the car smelled really funny like burning rubber or wire. sniffing around the smell was originating from the front drivers side dash/door hinge area. at this time the rear drivers side window stopped working. the two remaining passenger windows continue to work, however hours later the smell still remains in the car. *tr

Car fuel gauge failed to show accurate amount of fuel. sporadic readings

The middle of march 2011 i smelt something burning. i did not see smoke. my drivers side window and control panel stopped working properly. there are several different things that have occurred over the past year. drivers window sometimes won't roll down at all. sometimes it will roll 1/4 and stop, sometimes it will roll all the way down. when rolling back up i have to make 1000 clicks to get back up. remote keyless will not lock or unlock drivers side door. mirrors can not be adjusted. currently all 4 windows will roll down from drivers side control, but will immediately roll back up without pressing the up button. other 3 windows will roll down from each door but will also automatically roll up without being prompted to. it's almost as if the up button is being held down constantly. my concern is that i have a child who's hand or fingers could get caught without warning, and not knowing if the windows will roll back down is concerning. i am unable to lock the other windows from being controlled by other passengers. i have checked all fuses and so far they are okay. i have taken the panel apart thinking that the connections were dirty and not making a good connections and that did not help. *tr updated 11/14/12 *cn updated 11/14/2012 *js

I noticed an article on fox news about an investigation regarding door fires. i would like to report that issue happening to me about a year ago. the problem started intermittently where the window/door switches would not work. after dealing with that problem for a couple of months i got in my truck one morning and could tell it smelled like an electrical fire. from that point none of the windows or door locks worked and i could see some brown discoloration that had come up between the door and the panel for the door switches on the drivers side door. i pulled the switch panel up and there was a hole on the side of the switch panel and part of the plug was melted where the very small fire had occurred. i ordered a new switch panel from a dealer and had the dealer flash it so it would work in my truck and so far so good. i may have the old switch panel in my garage if needed for anything. *tr

The 2006 trailblazer had issues with the 2-wheel drive/4-wheel drive actuator and sensor. i had the sensor replace under warranty because the indicator light on the actuator handle was in a different range than what the knob indicated. after replacement, the truck indicator light would occasionally change while driving. there were no warning lights indicating that there was an issue with the power train system. the transfer case eventually burned up due to continuous switching between high and low hears while driving. the truck lost power while driving at 65 miles an hour in mountainous and snowy conditions. the transfer case, and sensor and actuator were all paid my the car owner. *tr

The fan on my trailblazer quit working on my a/c completely. took to the dealer & it started working again without any repair. then fan setting #5 quit working & i took to dealer again. they stated it was the blower motor resistor. picked up from dealer without replacing anything & then fan quit working all together. replaced blower motor resistor & it still didn't work. wiggled the 7-wire wiring harness & it began to work. waiting til it fails completely to replace. there have been many trailblazers that have had this exact problem. according to the reports, my harness will melt & then i will have to replace it and/or eventually wiggling it will not work, not to mention its very inconvenient to get into that area of the car on a regular basis!!! *tr

Gas gauge began to malfunction in december. it would go from full to empty every once in a while. over time it got worse and worse, until now, where it does not work at all. *tr

2006 chevy trail blazer with approximately 75,000 miles on it. about a year ago the vehicle died on me while at a stop sign. all the icons in the dash board lit up and engine alarms went off before it died. i tried to restart, but nothing happened. also the key locked in the ignition. a good samaritan gave me a jump start and i made my way home. i drove it to the dealership and they replaced the ignition switch. a month has gone by and the problem started all over again. this time, i turned the key in the ignition and nothing happened. 5 seconds later on it's own the vehicle cranked over as i was about to step out of the car. i continued driving the vehicle for another week with no problems. this week is another story, it started all over again. i have read blogs online with many chevy trailblazer owners having the same problems. as of right now my vehicle is at the dealership for the third time this year. all they can say is that i have a dead cell in my battery. of course a month ago, they said my battery was good. my brother inlaw also owns a chevy trailblazer and has the same problem. can someone please investigate i'm running out patients and money. not to mention a safety issue being stranded on the side of the highway. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the driver side door control module caught on fire. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the module. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 37,309 and the current mileage was approximately 43,000.

I have had several problems with my power windows going up and down and then just not working at all. i smell smoke sometimes but can't locate the cause of the smoke. i have also had problems with the electrical connection to the radio, which also works sometimes but the majority of the time it does not work. i have had this problem for a long time now and need a resolution before my suv catches fire. i also have problems with the drivers side power door lock which works intermittently-whenever it pleases. i recently started having problems with my rear wiper blade-turn it on and it moves a little then stops. my headlights dim up and down while driving...i have replaced the alternator and the battery and still don't have enough power for some reason-dealerships want to charge a lot of money just to diagnose when it appears that this is obviously a defect in the electrical system of the suv. *tr

In september 2010 i started having problems with my 2006 chevy trailblazer with the windshield wipers going all of the time . the only way i can get them to shut off or turn them back on is to take the fuse out. this is so inconvient because the fuse box is located in the backseat on the passengers side . i have to lift the seat up and remove two boxes and put in the fuse and to remove it i have to use pliers to get it out.... also my low fuel light stays on even when i have a full tank of gas so i am constantly at the gas station getting gas so that i am aways sure to have gas in my vehicle. the dealership wants to put the vehicle on diagnostic for $99 which does not go towards the cost of repairs which i can not afford because i am unemployed.. i have taken the vehicle back to the dealership i purchased it from and they indicate that it is no longer under warranty and there is nothing they can do but repair it and maybe give me 10% off of my repairs since i purchased it from them...... i see where u have many complaints on this same year and make and model.. do u have any suggestions on what can be done on this? *tr

When i filled my car up it would suddenly show it was empty & a check engine icon showed up & yellow low on gas warning light started dinging last fall 2010. when i drove approx 25 to 30 miles it would register gas normally & engine light would go away. i fill up every 2- 3 weeks normally. then this past february it went haywire & when i fill up it goes to the empty side, engine icon shows up & low on gas light dings & it never registers correctly at all, the gas hand is all over and i have been having to use the mileage gauge to even know how much i might have. it low gas warning will star dinging & i am driving down the road or interstate for no reason & startle me. it has caused me to suddenly jerk the steering wheel because i am startled & that is dangerous in itself. our family has been owned gm cars from the mid 1990's on and this has caused a very unsafe feeling for me. i have children & grandchildren with me and i feel very unsafe for the 1st time in this vehicle i am so nervous just driving to work & back & my eyes are constantly monitoring the panel when i need to keep focused on my drive. i am so concerned that since the gas gages are so wrong what would just keep it from "sensing" there is no gas and suddenly stop! i would hate for it to take a death to push this problem to be a recall. i am also a consumers report panelist and this will be on their report this year for sure. i have dealt with the noise issues as you drive & small things that happen as time goes on, but this is definitely an issue for recall. i need a safe vehicle and to trade is not the answer yet as i would not be honest in something else buying this car and maybe losing their life please i beg listen to the notices you have received concerning this, these are real as i have sensed myself in their concerns & complaints.

The wiring harness to the heater blower motor melts through. this is the second time we have replaced ours.

Fuel gauge began to show incorrect and erratic levels. it now shows that the tank is alway empty and puts on the service engine soon light every time i fill the tank all the way up. i have been told by the dealer that is needs a new fuel level sending unit at a cost of nearly $600. *tr

When i started care on above date i smelt something hot looked under hood saw nothing. after entering car realized the electric window control switches on driver side was the issue it was hot and smoldering. smoke by then was entering car. i pulled over and called a friend mechanic who took the melted part out and unplugged electric wires. i was told it would cost $1500 to replace and do not have that kind of money. *tr

Gas gauge on 2006 chevrolet trailblazer when started shows correct fuel level. after several miles of driving gauge drops to zero and warning light and chime is activated. gauge shows correctly each time engine is started. dealer said many complaints of this type, but not covered by warranty. it is a bad sending unit in the fuel pump. gas tank needs to be dropped and parts replaced at a cost of $800.00. *tr

While driving at night, the low beam headlights stopped working without notice. stopped at next convenience store, checked all fuses and all were good. started ignition and lights still did not work. checked high beam headlights and they worked. followed up with mechanic the following morning. could not diagnose problem and referred to a local dealer. dealer diagnosed problem as being a faulty bcm. bcm was replaced. approx. 8 weeks later, same problem w/low beam lights not working. dealer replaced relay. now low beams work, check engine light has come on and fuel gauge has stopped working. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving at approximately 35 mph, the headlights failed to illuminate. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the wiring was burned and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the contact stated that the failure recurred several times. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 65,000. updated 5/15/15*cn updated 05/26/15*jb

The fuel sending unit on my trailbalzer has failed and i have run out of gas several times causing dangerous situations. i have had to call aaa several times. the repair job will cost about $800 and i cannot afford to do it. the gas tank must be pulled down and the entire fuel pump/sending unit must be replaced by a mechanic. it is a dangerous job. i think general motors should issue a recall and repair free to the owners i know of several others running with the same condition. it will not pass new york state inspection with this condition...thank you.

Fuel sending unit began sending intermittent false readings, resulting in running out of gas mid-intersection, while on freeways where the loss of speed might result in an obstruction of traffic, in mid-acceleration where the loss of acceleration might result in an immediate danger to the occupants and surrounding vehicles, or while driving while gauge indicator indicated the availability of fuel within the system to perform combustion. *tr
