I was at work and i can back to get something from my truck and the driver door was on fire. *tr
Hello, my name is [xxx] owner of a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the issue with my vehicle is that my wife was driving it down a highway in northern michigan, driving at about 45-50 mph and the vehicle just shut off while driving. when the vehicle shut down she lost power to steer and brakes. if this incident happened in the city or on the freeway this could have been fatal. i called chevrolet and started a claim, the person i talked to couldn't speak much english or understand it as well. i told them what had happened and they wrote back with a entirely different story. they sent me to a local dealership, to get advise. the only thing they could tell me was there is no recall on that switch. all i was trying to do was make chevrolet knowledgeable about the situation. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
I was driving down the road and all power went out and steering locked up with no brakes. the car shut off and wouldn't start. i had the car towed and they ran a test on it and replaced the ignition switch. i have the receipt showing i had it repaired. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the power window switch became inoperable once the key was inserted in the ignition. the problem recurred multiple times. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
I was at work and my door power switch started smoking and was on fire and i would also like to know where and how i can get it fixed. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the check engine warning light remained illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who discovered burnt wires. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was unavailable.
I washed my vehicle and the next day when i went to use it the drivers side door window panel wouldn't work. i had noticed a funny smell a few times before this but was unable to determine the cause. i tried intermittently to use the panel to open the windows or lock or unlock the doors to no avail. two days later when i was on my way home all 4 windows started opening and closing all by themselves. one would go up and the other would go down. i couldn't figure out what was wrong. the only thing i knew was that i had washed the vehicle. of course the windows were up and in checking i couldn't see where any water could get inside the vehicle. i was told it was a known problem and i would need a new switch at the cost of almost $300.00 for the door panel switch. this would not include labor costs to make it work on my vehicle. i couldn't believe just washing my vehicle could cause such a problem so i decided to go online to see if others had the same problem. i found that there is apparently a recall. i will contact the 800 number and see what recourse i have in getting my panel replaced. *tr
I was driving to work and all of sudden i had no gas peddle and my suv came to a stop. i had it towed to a shop and was told my ignition switch went. i called gm today was told my suv wasn't part on the recall but they have been getting calls about trailblazers and could be in the future. something needs to be done about not doing a complete list right up front. *tr
Driving down interstate 79 in pennsylvania at normal speed when my airbag light lit up and my air bag disengaged flashed, followed by more lights on the dash going on, and tracking disengaged flashed, then engine light came on, engine failure flashed as i started moving toward the right hand lane in heavy traffic. just as i made it to the right lane my power cut out and i was going 20 - 25 mph in two seconds flat. i swerved to the berm of the road as the four wheeler semi truck that was behind me nearly clobbered me. i inched on the berm at 20 mph to the bridgeville exit and got to the colussy chevrolet dealer where my car stopped dead in the service dept. first, they thought battery, but the battery was fine. it was ignition switch failure which caused my air bags to disengage and my losing power. i was lucky i wasn't killed!! the cost of repairs was $337 but i was told that my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer was not on the gm recall list, even though i had the exact things go wrong with the vehicles on the ignition switch recall list. and they repaired it the same way, with no guarantee that this wouldn't happen again!!! this is not a "vehicle" recall, it is a "parts" recall and my vehicle had to have the ignition switch replaced. i called the gm ignition switch recall hotline and they escalated my case up and up and everyone said the same thing....they are sorry for my distress, my inconvenience but my vehicle is not on the recall list so they cannot replace the cost to repair my vehicle. perhaps if the semi truck that was behind me killed me, they might acknowledge my safety concerns for the ignition switch (part) and not my vehicle!!! *js
Once the vehicle is parked the key will not turn off the run position, resulting in the vehicle not turning off completely and the key can not be released. ignition switch will not operate correctly. sometimes after letting the vehicle sit for awhile the key will then be allowed to turn off and release. possible faulty ignition switch?? *tr
My wife, daughter and myself were driving on idaho state highway 70, a narrow, winding, two-lane road with little to no shoulder, when the motor stopped and ilost all power-brakes, steering etc. i was fortunately able to steer the car over to a wide spot on the shoulder and stop. i was unable to re-start the blazer and called aaa to have it hauled to knudtsen chevrolet in coeur d'alene, idaho. in another half hour we would have been driving 70 mph on interstate and the outcome could have been disasterous if the car had failed then in high volume traffic. the next day i was advised by knudtsen that the ignition switch was the problem. i wrote a follow-up letter to the owner and the service manager called a few days later indicating that since my warranty had expired neither gm nor knudtsen could help me with the $268 charge for replacing the switch. since then i have been told gm and knudtsen would split the cost three ways since i was a long-time customer (three blazers). i have not yet received any reimbursement as of this date. is this possibly another car which should be on the recall list? *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warnings. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. the technician diagnosed that the ignition switch was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 93,886 and the current mileage was 94,000.
Every time that i stop at a stoplight and start to go, the oil pressure drops to zero, the check gauges light comes on and message says oil pressure low and it cause the vehicle to act up and drive extremely slow, sometimes causing it to shut off or go into shut down mode. i googled this issue to try to figure out the problem that causes this and seen that several people have this issue with the trailblazers. i spoke with a gm certified mechanic and he told me that this is a very common issue with the trailblazer and said its either faulty wiring or oil sending unit. this issue is very dangerous to have happen and could (and probably has) cause an accident or someone to be stranded. with so many people having this issue, there is no way its just a coincidence. whatever the problem is there should be a recall for gm. i hope this issue is thoroughly investigated and something is done to fix the problem. thanks *tr
Engine light came on and never went off. have had in garage 4 times and no one able to fix. i have had every code fixed and cleared but light still stays on. the last time in shop light was off when all codes reset and as soon as i drove it a short distance, light returned. now light goes on and then off and on again. it can last for days or a short drive. car runs fine and no one can see to find problem. *js
Wiper engages with washer fluid spraying at any time . when first start wipers come on with fluid spraying no intermitent settings wiper stops and starts at all times. fuel gauge stop working with full tank. now it does not work. door lock on driver side not functioning. locks would start when vehicle sitting in driveway not running. removed fuse, as it caused battery failure. *js
My car was in garage warming up on a cold day. after about 1 min. it stopped idling. i went out to restart the car and the key was in off position. i restarted the car and let it idle for approximately 3 min. i then backed out of garage and proceeded down a hill to make a left turn. my speed at the turn was 15 mph. after i made the turn, the engine quit. i was able to bring it to a safe stop. the key again was in the off position. i retried to start the car, but there was no sound. i called my mechanic and he said to have it towed. i tried one more time and it started. i drove approximately 5 miles to his shop and when i pulled up in front of the garage doors, the engine quit. we could not get it restarted. he placed the hand held computer analyzer and determined it was ignition switch which he replaced. cost with labor was $147.00. *tr
Within a week's several items in my instrument cluster failed - including the o2 sensor & my oil sending sensor... looking at the complaints listed on this sight, i see it is a huge issue for many trailblazer owners. very frustrating that nothing has been done to make gm fix these problems! *tr
1/2004 lost all power making left turn into traffic. dealer diagnosed loss of ignition voltage and replaced ignition. 9/2015 warning lights appeared on dash, dealer diagnosed followed pi and replaced ignition switch. both repairs totaled $574.48 and gm paid nothing.
While driving down the road i smelled plastic burning then i saw some smoke.. i had to pull over and pulled the master window controls out of door to find it had caught fire and is now inoperable. i see there is a recall but i recently purchased the vehicle and would like to know how to have this situation taken care of. *tr
For months i have been having issues with my vehicle. it was taken in to chevrolet for a recall repair and now it seems to have all sorts of problems! my fuel gauge in the tank is no longer working, my a/c was working one day but not the next, the check engine light turns on and off, it's dumping fuel, the thermostat had to be replaced...when do the problems end? now come to find out after having my blower motor replaced the connector for the electrical has had a little bit of melting issue which potentially could have caught fire!!! of course general motors wants and arm and a leg to replace it!!!! i don't think i will ever buy another chevy again, this is ridiculous! if it had caught fire which i am sure if people can't afford or don't get their vehicles properly checked there will be one that happens to, it could kill someone! seems like a liability waiting to happen! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that smoke started to emit from the vehicle. the contact mentioned that the air conditioner and heat became inoperable preventing the windows from defrosting. the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer and an independent mechanic. the mechanic stated that the climate control panel needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 170,000.
While driving down the road in my 2006 trail blazer i had a door switch/latch malfunction. in my vehicle when you pass 15 mph the doors automatically lock. at that moment the doors switched to locked and at the same exact time the door lock/latch failed and the door opened while the car was moving. i made arrangements with my local chevy dealer via chevy customer care to correct a recall with the door switch. when i received my vehicle back the door latch/lock was not fixed. that part wasn't under recall. the part that failed was the door lock actuator which is an electronic device that is part of the door switching/locking system. the fact that the door switch was recalled due to shortages is quite possibly for the failure of this latch/lock. i am an avid seat belt wearer, luckily. i am great concerned with the potential for serious injury or death with this failure in other vehicles. i have reached out to the dealer and gm but was told too bad for the dealer and have bad no response when i mentioned their lack of concern for safety. thank you *tr
First incident: (23 august 2013) driving to stop at stop sign at approximately 15mph , vehicle turned off without any warning lights. second incident: (26 august 2013) driving on highway going close to 65 mph, once again vehicle turned off without any warning lights. had to turn hazards off and coast to safe zone while cars were passing me going 65-80mph. third incident: (28 august 2013) driving close to 50 mph, once again vehicle shut off without any warning lights. once again had to coast to the median and hope not to get in a car wreck. all 3 of these incidents happened with my 2 year old daughter in the vehicle. i have also done research through various forums and websites. it happens without any warning at all and from what i have read there is only a temporary fix by changing the ignition switch but months later it comes back. the only thing that you can do (from my knowledge) is let it sit for an hour or 2 and then it starts up fine, but when your driving at 70 mph the last thing you want is for your vehicle to completely shut off on the highway. there are thousands of people in the exact same situation as me hoping the next time they get into their vehicle they wont be in an accident. thank you for your consideration. *tt
Engine light on indicated vapor collection box under car not working properly,and/or needing tune up. performed tune-up, engine light still on. , this, according to my licensed mechanic is a defective design construction problem. that having the box fogged for leaks and subsequent repair or replacement results in multiple situations of the light always coming back on. 2. the master switch on the drivers door went out, during the rainy season and needed to be replaced. i later found out that this was a recall item, but gm, chev, and/their dealerships refuse to reimburse me for the part and even though i took it to a dealership, they did not spray the one i had installed, was not interested in replacing the orig defective unit with the new engineered part, were rude, obnoxious and non professional to my husband, which now has me livid. we received a phone call from a local dealership, never any mail prior to repairing, when asked about the check engine light (under another recall too, for fuel level sensor, the dealership is charging $60.00 to check it out. is gm and or chevrolet finding it necessary to drum up repair costs from the consumer to themselves. this is just a little more or less like scamming. *js
This is the second time this has happened - what happens is i will be driving ( speed once at 35 once at 60 ) and my trailblazer just shuts down. instantly. you have no power to get over to the side of the road. p0601 code - this is what shows on my mechanics system. however, when you research that code online. some folks have spent thousands trying to stop this issue and no resolve. this is highly dangerous - you go from 60 to nothing. my tb has less than 50k on it. *tr

When i was driving downhill on curvy road, i applied the brakes during a turn and the power steering had activated my anti-lock brakes. it kept happening on every turn and when i took my car to a shop they had to replace a steering angle sensor. *tr
When i am driving my low beam headlights just go complete out without warning. this happens anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes of driving. my bright lights will work but not the low beam. then several hours after i have stopped driving they work again. i understand there was a recall on multiple years for this problem with the trailblazers including 2006 which is my vehicle however i still have not received a recall notification. i don't understand why not!! i have called and filled out a complaint form previously with no response. can you please explain to my why my vehicle is not eligible? updated 10/9/15 *ln updated 01/05/16.*jb

The summer of 2013 i had it brought to my attention that my driver side brake light would fail to light up as the brake was applied. i tried changing the bulb but that proved to not be the problem as it still failed to light up. the following summer the same thing happened with the passenger side brake light. i am unsure if it is an electrical problem or a sensor that has gone bad. i can only assume that it is an electrical problem due to the fact that the back windshield wiper stopped working due to electrical issues. *tr
My wife was coming home from work. she started her car and backed up, went to shift to drive and something broke stranding he in a empty parking lot on a saturday. she was in a traffic lane and blocking the handicap parking space. i have owned cars for many years and never had such a thing happen. why did you make an all steel cable and mountings and then put a tiny plastic end on it that brakes all the time. the parts house and the service shops all said it happens all the time and you must buy a replacement from the dealer. they know it is a problem as they must stock the cable assemblies that cost a lot to change. please redesign them and change the plastic end to a stainless steel end and retrofit all cars, suv's and trucks that use this part. *tr
My husband and i were traveling home from a weekend out of state. we were coming into chicago traveling towards wisconsin where we live. just before the first toll booth on i80/i94 traveling at highway speeds, we hit a slight bump in the road and lost all power to the car. we managed to coast the car over from the far left lane of a 5 lane highway to the right shoulder of the road out of harms way. the car was towed to a firestone dealership on a sunday afternoon; we were told after a systems analysis was completed that the car would have to be towed to a gm dealership. the closest was in homewood, il. after gm fixed the car, i asked what would cause something like this to happen. i was told by the dealership, it is something that just happens. knowing the gravity of what could have happened, this is very upsetting. i really believe the trailblazer should be also noted on the gm recall of autos before another family has to experience what mine did or worse. thank you *js
Daughter was driving in city traffic in orlando (disney world college intern) and notice smoke and then fire coming from passenger side, under the dash. car was in motion, she tried to stop the vehicle and exit, had trouble getting car to stop, and the door would not open because the vehicle was not in park. fire rapidly spread throughout the cabin. she had to put her hand into the fire to get to the shifter, and then hurt her knee when she left the vehicle because it was still moving. the entire interior was totally consumed, all windows are gone, all seats are burnt to the frames, and it appears that the fire department took out the front grill to get to the engine compartment. unknown cause of fire at this time, vehicle is a total loss, and is now in a tow lot. we will never see the vehicle again since we live in nebraska. thankfully my daughter made it out alive with possible knee injury only. *tr

I purchased a used car from ez cars & credit located in riverside california because they had some very good reviews. i could of bought a car from a private owner but i decided to go with a dealership because i figured that the law would protect me and they could not sale me a defective vehicle. i purchased an suv, chevrolet trailblazer 2006 on 2/07/2013 and after taking the car for a test drive, i noticed the airbag light on. the manager [xxx] said it was just something that could be fixed in like 5 minutes and that it had to do with the fuses being replaced but his service technician left for the day so i should bring the car in tomorrow. i contacted the dealership and asked for [xxx], i was told by the sales manager who's name is [xxx], that [xxx] was on vacation for 1 week in mexico. i explained the airbag situation and[xxx]said he doesn't know anything about it and i would have to wait for [xxx] to return from mexico. a week and a half later driving with the airbag light on, not knowing if my kids, husband or myself were safe in this vehicle but we spent all our money to purchase this car. we here from [xxx] so i brought the car into the dealership, [xxx] had the car for 4 days and the airbag light is still on today! i contacted [xxx] and told him i was on my way to pickup my car, mr. [xxx] he was at the office, now when i pick up my car, i get my keys from the owner of the auto repair shop next door. he doesn't even work for the dealership! i have serious water corrosion under my car, the steering wheel feels shaky the fuel gauge never reads correctly and the lights go off and on inside the car after a while of driving. i don't know what to do?? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Recall for faulty fuse or connection in the driver's side door that could malfunction if the wiring became wet and cause an electrical problem. i was notified by regular mail from chevrolet in or around 2013. in approximately 2015, there was a short in a fuse in the driver's side door after a rainstorm. the power window malfunctioned and did not work. the following morning the window functioned normally again. i have had no trouble with the window or the door since that time.
The suv would not start in october 2012. i was told i needed a new battery, so i bought one right away. i drive the suv very infrequently, maybe only 40 miles a week. on decmber 7, 2012 the headlights started to flicker while i was driving across the chesapeake bay bridge in maryland. this was very concerning because it was getting dark out. i drove directly to a friend's house, and when i tried to park the suv the lights would not turn off. even after manually trying to turn off the lights and removing the key from the ignition, the lights would not turn off. finally the lights went out, but the battery was dead when i tried to restart the suv in the morning. we tried to charge the battery. this caused sparks by the fuse box and the lights inside the cabin began to turn off and on, even with the key out of the ignition. the headlights also started to flicker off and on and the doors locked an unlocked. i had the car towed back across the bridge to my local mechanic and was told i need a new battery. obviously the battery is not the issue. i would like to know what gm intends to do about the faulty wiring in these models and how they are going to correct the issues related to the recall notice i received in october 2012. the recall number is 12180 and i think this current problem is related to it. i received the notice and it states the parts are not available at this time and to park the vehicle outside. i called and asked if it is ok to drive the suv and was told "yes". since i must drive across a 5 mile bridge several times a week, i am concerned the truck will break down and cause an accident. i am also concerned a passenger or my pet dog could be injured. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that a burning odor and smoke started to emit into the vehicle. the contact mentioned that he believed that the driver's side door module was defective. the fire department was not contacted. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and the current mileage was 141,000.
Drivers side window erratically went up and down with out key in ignition and car was un occupied. began to smoke and consequently melted door panel switch and window motor. *tr
The truck has been at a several times into a chevorlet dealer, the check engine light the reduced engine light and the traction control lights all come on at the same time and it causes a failure in which the vehicle losses 90% of power . the failure happens at random time and all weather and traffic conditions. i have had it at two dealers as well have contacted gm executive dept. they have claimed to be fixed several times but it still fails. the issue at hand is that in traffic conditions this failure proves to be a huge safety hazard for myself and other drivers on the road. its not a used car issue as its an electrical failure issue. i have asked time and time again to have a gm field tech come look at the car but, they insist that the dealer fix it. i need someone more to see and understand the failure comes with at great risks of other drivers on the road. if you goggle this problem you will see others have the issue and i think its worth a recall if they can find a fix for it but after 3 years and several tries they are still unable to fix the issue. *tr
Car was parked, used my key pad to open doors only back hatch unlock, had to use my key to open driverside, very strong smell by the time i got the door open, like burning wire, car would not start smell got stronger was afraid car was gonna catch on fire so unhook battery, had it towed to shop ,the drivers door module was burnt black, contacted gm after 2 days they told me it was a factory defect, and it would be taken care of. cars fixed and now they only gave me 10% off , then they hung up on me. *tr
I came out to my vehicle today, unlocked the door with the keyless remote but the driver's door was unresponsive. upon starting the vehicle i realized the windows don't work on the driver's side as well. i removed the driver door control module to find a burn mark internally on the door as well as burnt plastic on the door module itself. the window and lock worked fine the night before so i'm concerned with the short circuit occurring over night without a key in the ignition. *tr
To whom it concerns, needed to report this since i believe this is a great safety problem that needs to be addressed by gm. the issue is with the low beam headlights. on my vehicle its only the passenger headlight. if you search online you can find others that have same issue but with both low beams go out whenever without notice. very dangerous on dark roads. i've had my headlight fixed many times myself and than gave up and took to where i bought vehicle. what is happening is the bulb is making connector hot enough to melt to bulb so connector and bulb both need replace it may last a year most times not. there is definitely going to cause a fire before long. this could cause loss of life. i really need this important matter looked into and gm should have to correct this problem since it's a problem for lots of people. *tr
