Gear shift locked into the parked position while vehicle still moving and in drive. brake pedal also locked.my autistic son was in the vehicle with me. gm knows about this issue as far back as 2002 . do they care about the impact ? i am the 3rd owner ,bought this vehicle because of safety rating and that it has less than 92000 miles on it. i have owned it for 5 years.
I have 2004 trailblazer in jan my tach and speedometer have not worked properly ...i cannot afford the 500 dollar plus fix on this vehicle. i have read many complaints in regards to the same situation. apparently no one has taken care of this problem. ifrom my understanding there have been recalls on most other vehicles with the same problem, i do not understand why there isn't one for the trailblazer.please advise what to do. *tr
Speedometer and tachometer. both have not worked properly for a few months now... un safe will be getting it fix unfortunately its going to cost alot of money but will save lives...i have heard many complaints about this same issue did some research and there were quiet alot of ppl w same problems.. something needs to be done to prevent any and all safety issues. *tr
The speedometer and all other gauges except the gas gauge have stopped working.
While driving the vehicle it began to smoke. the car wouldn't accelerate so i stopped the car shut it off, popped the hood, and it was engulfed in flames. i grabbed my 2 children out of the car and called 9-1-1 the car was a total loss! *tr
Speedometer gets stuck at random places. impossible to know how fast you are going. all other controls have also gone out too. the oil pressure gauge was the first to stop working and the rest have gone out about a month or 2 apart.
I can start my vehicle and the gauges started sticking. i am constantly being shocked by the driver door. my gauges no longer work at all and have completely went haywire. i have no dash lights. my vehicle has just died in the middle of a busy street. i do not know how much fuel i have, how fast i am going. my cruise control either at times increases my speed or does not hold the speed. i have to use a gps device to know approximate speed. this vehicle needs to be recalled. i love my vehicle but it has tons of issues. *tr
Vehicle goes into shutdown mode with an unresponsive accelerator. motor still runs but no acceleration. this is a serious safety issue when driving in traffic as you have no power to get out of traffic and harms way. there is no warning that a problem is imminent. a reduced power light comes on and you're stuck. vehicle in question is a 2004 chevrolet trailblazer. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated the cruise control as well as the fuel gauge no longer functioned. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told they do not know how to remedy the failures. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 115,000.
Speedometer on my 2004 trailblazer has become erratic. sometime no speed. someitmes stuck on 90mph whether i'm moving or not. currently stuck above the 120mph mark.
Speedometer show 40 doing 60 or so can not really tell how fast i am going tachometer not working right reading on the internet this is a severe problem gm recall trucks and some other models why not the trailblazers
The speedometer began to be erratic and would not show the correct speed. i could be traveling 40 mph and the speedometer would show 10 mph. then it would jump to 110 mph, then zero. i went to the dealer and was told a new cluster board was needed. the replacement cost is $600-$700. i did an internet search and found out that his is a wide spread problem with the trailblazer. i also found out that chev. has recalled other vehicles with the same problem, such as suburban, silverado and yukon, but has not recalled the trailblazer. this is a serious safety issue. chevy must be aware that this is a big problem for trailblazer owners there needs to be a recall of the cluster board on the trailblazer. *tr
In my 2004 chevrolet trailblazer i was applying the brakes. the brakes failed, and the vehicle accelerated. *tr
I was driving at highway speed (approximately 65mph) with the cruise control set, when my vehicle suddenly responded like i had slammed the gas pedal down to the floor. my speed climbed rapidly, but i had the presence of mind to drop the truck into neutral (the tachometer continued to be at its maximum level and the engine still whined high) and steer to safety, across several lanes of traffic, to the breakdown lane. when i shut the vehicle off and turned it back on again, this issue was no longer present. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chevrolet trail blazer. while driving approximately 25 mph and engaging the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated, spun out of control and rolled over down a hill. the consumer suffered minor injuries. the vehicle was destroyed. a police has a report is available if needed. the chevrolet manufacturer stated that there were no related incidents. the failure mileage was 56,000. updated 01/08/10 *bf the consumer also stated the air bags did not deploy and it felt as though the gas pedal was stuck. updated 01/12/10.*jb
I have safety concerns in regards of my vehicle. while driving, my speedometer is reading off wrong numbers. for example, i can be driving 60mph, but the speedometer is reading at 80mph. it is a real concern for me because i have know idea how fast i'm driving. now that a lot of cities have photo-enforced cameras to record how fast you are driving, i have to guess how fast i'm going and hope that i don't receive a ticket in the mail. i have been researching this particular problem and i see several complaints on this topic. unfortunately, my warranty is expired so i will have to pay out of pocket. i hope gm sees this and consider a recall
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chevrolet trailblazer. the throttle body failed while the contact was at a stop light causing the vehicle to stall. the vehicle restarted immediately and there were no warning lights illuminated. the vehicle was driven to a mechanic where they inspected and replaced the throttle body at her expense for $200. the dealer was also called and informed her to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing but she informed them that she would take the vehicle to another mechanic and they will replace the throttle body. the manufacturer was called, filed a claim and was also informed to contact nhtsa and file a claim. the failure mileage was 121,000. updated 12/8/10. *lj the consumer stated the throttle body failed many times and the last time it failed, the consumer was approaching a red light and the vehicle completely stalled. updated 12/13/10
Driving on dry pavement, clear day. took freeway offramp, when i reached 40mph, the brakes locked up, went past stop sign into other highway missing other vehicle passing in front of offramp. happened twice at same speed, brakes lock up, and i pass through the stop sign. loud grinding noise coming from wheel well area, brakes recently changed about 3 months ago, noise occurs at 25-30 mph, sounds like dragging something underneath. service man checked, nothing visible. has occurred 5 times in less than 2 months. interior lights dim on vehicle then brighten constantly. door ajar light constantly coming on, back hatch window constantly opening on own driving down road. instrument panel knobs, panel itself and window and door buttons on doors extremely hot to touch. various lights on instrument panel quit working and then resume on their own. reported tach/odometer not working already. both units registering offline while driving. where are the fixes to these problems? *tr
My suv has less than 70,000 miles and all of a sudden it stopped showing me the speed that i am going. it just sits on zero and it stopped showing me my gas, it sits on e,...this is a huge and dangerous problem. i tried to contact chevy but have not been successful...i have a 2004 chevy trailblazer! i have never been in an accident or anything like that. i loved my vehicle and took very good care of it.... *tr
Driving along and all of a sudden the speedometer reads zero. all other gauges work fine. had dealer fix it for 466.00 gm has bulletin out for the pickups and suvs but not this vehicle that use the same components. *tr
On 2004 chevy trailblazer the speedometer will go from zero to 60 with out moving. *tr
While driving the speedometer will get stuck and then it will not go back to 0 when you are stopped. the speedometer will also at times show that i am going 120mph+ and i am barely moving or stopped. the only way to get back to 0 mph (if it works) is to turn the trailblazer on and off until it goes back to 0. vehicle has 50,000 mile's. i cannot drive the vehicle without this happening. *tr
2004 trailblazer. 45,000 miles. speedometer and rpm gauge goes up and down, sticking or not moving at all. *tr
2004 chevrolet trailblazer. it showed zero when i am going at least 40 mph, then moves a little, and now is showing like 110 mph when i am going around 50 mph. i have noticed that this was a common problem with my vehicle. i have around 56,000 miles on it. is gm planning on a recall, thiswasa extremely dangerous and i should not have to bear the cost of repairs. *ak
While making a left turn, the vehicle accelerated from 5 to 50 mph, full pressure applied to the brakes did not stop the vehicle. driving into a curb was the only way to stop the vehicle. resulting in tire and wheel damage. no personal injury was caused. *nm
Instrument cluster started going bad in 2006 and every year another gauge is faulty - first it was the gas gauge, next the oil, etc and 4 years ago the speedometer started sticking. i talked to the dealer and they wanted $800 to fix it. i have researched at the time and this it is a very common complaint. this should have been recalled. i have complained about it for years and even called gm - no help and i don't have the money to repair this. i would appreciate help with this and feel that gm has known that this is an issue. i drive a lot of kids in my car and i am afraid that one day this is really going to be a problem. *js
Dt*: the contact stated while driving under normal road conditions, the vehicle accelerated by itself from 25 to 30 mph. the vehicle was not taken to the service dealer.*ak updated 01/19/07.*jb
Speedometer started acting erratically. either posts no speed, or shows a speed that is obviously not correct. turning off car, and restarting corrects the problem for the moment. *jb
The vehicle has stalled out 3 times in the past month. check engine light came on and then reduced engine power light. we could only go 10 mph. thankfully we were in a residential area and not on the freeway. dealership said it was a faulty accelerator position module and the pcm needed to be reprogrammed. lucky us we are over in miles and this is not covered by the warranty. *nm
Dt*: the contact stated at various speeds, the vehicle would lose power and stall. this occurred with no warning. the vehicle was not taken to a mechanic for this problem. while driving at 35 mph, the vehicle lost power and hit a guard rail then rolled over. the airbags did not deploy. the contact was wearing a seat belt, but sustained minor injuries. there was a police report taken at the scene. the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop, but there has been no inspection for these problems.
My first complaint came after the warranty expired and my water pump suddenly went out. i got that fixed and then i started hearing a noise on the passenger side near the right front tire. we still have not been able to figure out what this is. now i am having trouble with the rpm and speedometer just jumping and going out of whack. i got it fixed in lumberton nc at the chevy dealer and before i got home the same thing was happening again. i am scheduling an appointment to take it back in again and this time they say they will have to replace the gauge which will cost approximately $350. this is ridiculous considering i have only had the vehicle a year and some months. i talked to a friend of mine which had a gmc yukon and she had the same problems with the rpms and speedometer. she finally got rid of her and she said she had the same noise problem. i think that gmc should be made to correct all these problems and not the consumer take responsibility for their imperfections. *nm
Dt: 2004 chevrolet, trail blazer. the cruise control does not work properly. the cruise control does not stop the vehicle from increasing in speed when going down an incline. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer who said that there was nothing they could do to fix this problem. when the consumer contacted gmc, they said that it was normal and it was designed that way to save fuel. *ak gm also informed the consumer to use lower gears when going down hill. the mileage would still increase when in third gear. *sc *jb
The consumer experienced a bucking problem when using the cruise control option. *bf the fuel supply seemed to be intermittent. chevrolet advised the consumer that this was the normal condition. *sc *jb
This complaint was sent via e-mail. " i was making a left turn at a very busy intersection, awaiting oncoming traffic to clear, i accelerated to go through traffic light, the engine was running but i had no acceleration. the check engine light came on. the car had enough rolling power to coast through the turn and get to the shoulder of the road. i shut off the ignition and waited a few seconds and restarted the car. the car started running okay , but the check engine light was still on. we stopped at a nearby gmc dealership to have the car checked. by the time we got there the light had gone off. the service man said it was okay to drive the car back home , 170 miles. the car was taken to a local dealership. the analysis from the on board computer indicated a malfunction with the accelerator throttle component. *ak
I have a 2004 trail blazer ext. at about 2200 miles the cruise control stopped working, and when i got an appointment to take it in, they told me, that in fact it wasn't an issue with the cruise control, that there had been a short in the torque control converter solonoid which was a problem with the engine. they had a part overnighted to alderman's chevrolet, who fixed it quickly and made sure i had a rental while it was in being fixed, but a week and a half later, the same thing happened again. i am taking it in tomorrow, but i am afraid there is going to be permanant damage to my engine because this thing when broken affects the shifting of the engine. i am wondering if i just got a lemon or if this is a common problem with these vehicles. it only has 3500 miles on it, it shouldn't be in the shop twice already for repairs. *ak
While cruise control is engaged, engine stutters after cresting a hill, more or less coasting down the other side. *tr
