I received a letter stating that my "2002 chevrolet trailblazer may experience a cracking of an engine cylinder bore liner. this will cause engine noise, poor performance and/or stalls with no engine re-start. this is not a recall. do not take your vehicle has the condition as described above". i feel that this is irresponsible by chevrolet and the action they are taking is also irresponsible. they are covering the vehicle for 7 years or 100,000 miles. please look into this and make chevrolet correct the problem. if they know they are putting a faulty product on the market they should be responsible enough to correct the problem. nestor valle . *nlm
In november of 2002, jn automotive has reversed the odometer on my vehicle and i believe they are in violation of the federal odometer law. i just want to find some resources that will help me resolve this situation.
2002 chevrolet trailblazer with 21,000 miles. bought in august 2001. has been in for service 10 times since we bought it. latest problem is stalling in the middle of intersections or after stopping. has been in for repairs for this problem 4 times, and problem recurred today. went out to start car and it was dead. just picked it up from the repair shop yesterday. has been towed three times for same problem. service shop has reprogrammed computer, replaced battery, ignition switch, and tcm (computer module), and pcm/vcm (other computer modules) and fuse kit. still having problem. suv is unreliable and unsafe. *jb
The vehicle stalled intermittently while driving. the dealer was unable to determine cause of problem.*ak the vehicle periodically shut off while in the idle position. the vehicle was delivered to the service department on several occasions to have the problem identified and corrected. as of 07/07/2003, the vehicle continued to have problems with loss of power and the service dept. has yet to determine the problem. *ph. the air condition developed a foul odor which was present after the vehicle sat in the sun, the odor was detected immediately after the vehicle was started and the ac was turned on, the vehicle was serviced times and then the problem returned, the air condition now takes a long period of time to cool the vehicle and produce cold air. *jb *scc *jb
2002 chevrolet trailblazer ltz 2wd, engine totally stopped when accelerating onto on ramp of freeway. driver was able to coast to side of highway without incident. put shifter back in park, and ignition started successfully. *nlm
On some cold starts the auto transmission starts off in second or third gear, it stays that way until the vehicle warms up. this is preceded by the engine idleing faster than usual on the cold start. this is an intermittent problem and has been happeing a few times per month. two dealers have failed to find the problem.
I have a 2002 trailblazer with a air condition problem the truck has been to the dealership twice. the dealership has told us to spray the trailblazer with lysol in the air condition vents in oder to keep the meldow smell from coming back into the truck ,they are refusing to replace the air condition.
2002 chevy trailblazer- while traveling on i-76 in philadelphia, pa at approximately 55 mhp the engine in my trailblazer began to make a loud noise, lost power & shut off. the vehicle had approximately 5,400 miles on it at the time. fortunately, i was somehow able to make it off the highway without incident. the outcome of the problem was engine failure, a liner within the engine came loose & caused piston failure. the vehicle had to be towed & the engine replaced.
The engine made a rumbling/clicking sound, shut off suddenly, the power steering had gone out, and the power brakes failed. the dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. ts
I own a 2002 chevrolet trailblazer ls with approximately 11,000 miles which had an engine failure on thanksgiving 2002. entering and accelerating to approximately 60 mph on highway in about 25 degree temperature and engine service light appeared followed by reduced engine power light and then engine stopped running and could not be restarted. dealer advised me that number 4 cyclinder cracked. they further advised me that gm is aware of a manufacturing defect in some trailblazer engines that was caused by a miscalibration of the machine used to manufacture the engine. gm replaced my engine at no cost to me under original warranty. this sudden engine failure could have resulted in an accident and possible personal injury if i had not been able to roll the vehicle to the breakdown lane safely. from nhtsa web site.
Upon starting vehicle consumer noticed the service engine soon light illuminated. consumer stated took to dealer and dealer replaced the gas tank. please provide any further information. ts
Air/heat vents have a really bad odor. the dealer has cleaned and spray something in them and suggested i do the same. i have done so. this causes a severe smell in the vehicle for a couple of days that makes occupants sick, then the smell will disappear completely for a couple of weeks then return. the dealer says that it is some type of mold or mildew in the vents. this has been happening for several months.
The consumer states that while driving at 45mph, the vehicle stalled and died out with out warning resulting in a collision. the dealer has inspected the vehicle three times prior to this incident. nlm *scc
I have had numerous of problems with my 2002 trailblazer. i have had to replace my rear tail light housing 3 times in the last year. i have also had to replace the clutch fan 3 times within 3 months. my hood keeps squeaking and has to be readjusted every other month. my instrument panel has gone out twice. the alarm also works when it wants to and the passenger side seat belt always locks up. on 6/13/03 it left finally left me stranded on the side of the road on the way to california. i live in arizona and was traveling with my wife, mother-in-law and our 3 year old daughter. i had to pay for a rental car and had to submit to gm to reimburse me for the rental car. by reading all the complaints on these 2002 trailblazers i think we should all get together and do a class act law suit towards gm. e-mail me with your thoughts. Vehicle stalling in traffic or at idle .. setting ses light .. codes found for camshaft position sensor ... sensor repeatedly fails -- leaking oil into wiring harness, shorting system

The rear window of my 2002 chevrolet trailblazer pops open while driving, even when it is locked. its been into the dealer (3 different ones) 7 times and chevrolet has told me that since they can't replicate the problem, there is nothing they can do. the window pops open several times a week. we do drive on a dirt road, but its nothing unusually rough. my wife has started having migraine headaches, and they started a few weeks after we bought this car. we have the opinion of several doctors that say these headaches could be caused by the exhaust that fills the car when the window pops open. i've asked the dealer if they could make the window so it doesn't open at all, but since its a lease, they won't do anything to the car that would affect the value of the car. i also believe this to be a problem because of what could happen when i'm driving down the interstate and the window pops open (which happens very often) and something flies out the window and causes another car to wreck and possibly kills someone. another problem i have is that sometimes the window unlatches, and we don't realize it. if i park my vehicle somewhere and someone steals the contents of the car, or the car itself. after discussing these issues with the chevrolet customer service rep (dan) they said they are not responsible for any of these cases. this failure happens about every three days and started about a week after we bought it (around 7/5/2002). we've had 3 other new leased vehicles (1998 dodge ram, 2000 pontiac grand am, and a 2001 dodge ram) since moving into our current house and have had absolutely no problems that have been caused by the roads we drive on, or how we drive them. i fear for my safety as well as the safety of others while driving this car, however i don't have a choice since i can't afford to terminate the lease and buy another car.....please help. *nlm
Engine stall - truck stalled and all lighting and components went dead while slow to stop at an intersection. the truck could not be re-started. after 10 minutes, the truck started again and was able to drive on. subsequent attempts to start the truck failed resulting in it being towed to the dealer. the dealer had to replace one of the computers in the truck and it has been fine ever since. i heard about the investigation for the envoy and bravada but not the trailblazer. my truck is a trailblazer and did experience the same problems as the two sister trucks that share the same mechanicals.

Cooling fan had intermittent problems of racing when you stepped on gas, now cooling fan is racing constantly. i have been told by the dealer and chevrolet that a new part has to be designed. no one knows how long this will take. i have been told vehicle is safe to drive, however it certainly does not sound like it and i have been stopped by police thinking i am racing engine or driving unsafely.*ts *nlm **dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12-12-02 cut over to artemis**770110

Since shortly after purchase, (feb. '02) to present (july '03) my 2002 chevrolet trailblazer ltz 2wd has frequent-to-constant "pinging" in engine while accelerating; flat surfaces and inclines. higher octane gasoline does not remedy. representative at dealer's service dept. states this is "normal" with trai*blazers. i am concerned that it is causing damage to the heads.*ak
Problems with air bag dash light, fast engine idle, air conditioner, rear hatch inner strap broke, etc...*mr the airbag light was intermittent. the sir module was replaced, and there was poor terminal connection at the sir wiring harness, and was traced/repaired on the left side impact connector and the codes were cleared. the engine idled fast(especially at start up, and the fuel mileage was 13 mpg. the results of the evaluation and repairs were: passenger impact connector was loose(repositioned/connected), idle within specifics, the emblem had fallen off, the rear hatch inner strap had broken, the transmission seemed to take long to shift into gear(happened sometimes when cold), and the pcm needed to be reprogrammed(j6355 power train controller pcm). there was a thumping sound in the rear differential when shifted, the a/c would blow out cold air when the a/c indicator was off, hot air would come out of the defroster area on the dash when the indicator was set for heater on the floor, the engine made a tapping sound, the lift gate weather strip had come apart, and the battery kept losing charge(3 occurrences). *scc *jb
