I was driving home from work and started hearing the trucks undercarriage start to rattle and grind on the bumps of the road. i had a sudden loss of power on engine and it wouldnt respond to my pressing on the gas. i believed that i had gas in the truck because the gauge read half full and apparently i was out of gas. so i proceeded to pull into a gas station and as soon as we filled up, the truck would not start! i saw that my check engine light was on and had to ask for a jumpstart to get it started again. at another time and date again the truck went dead, i asked for a jumpstart and the vehicle would not respond. i now had to buy a new battery because the car damaged the original battery and now with the new battery installed my car starts but will not stay on without me pressing on the gas while in park gear. i believe something may be defective with the electrical gauges, fuel delivery system, and suspension. *tr

I have a 2002 chevy trailblazer 4wd. the clutch fan is bad. from what the auto parts service center advised me, all clutch fans on the 2002 trailblazers should be recalled. the vehicle runs high rpm's when first starting. this is a safety hazards that the gov. should address with chevy. don't wait until someone loses a life, then act on this complaint. you would think after the firestone tire incident you people would work on the side of the consumer, after all, we do pay for your agency to operate. why is it the consumer always has to pay for big business when they are the ones who are a fault. when building any product, if it fails. then the gov. should enforce a recall. whether it be one or 20 complaints. the consumer has the right to be protected when purchasing any product. when a complaint is made. the you the gov. agency should act and make a recall. before someone gets hurt. it" that simple. *tr

2002 chevrolet trailblazer with problems with car radio customer wants reimbursement for repairs**cc some type of electrical problem caused a loud pop to come through the speakers. the caused the radio to short out and the speakers to blow. the radio and speakers had been replaced several times. the amplifier also had to be replaced. the vehicle has been taken to the dealer on numerous occasions but they have been unable to correct the problem. the middle seat belt in the second row locked up as soon as it was fastened into the buckle. when the defroster was used the consumer heard a clicking noise. the dealer replaced the mode actuator and mode valve per tsb 04-01-38-002. the quarter panel on the roof seam sealer cracked and was rusted. the pull down strap on the rear hatch broke. the sway bar broke. a grinding noise was heard coming from the left front wheel when making sharp left turn. the dealer determined that suspension was misaligned and caused shield to touch rotor. the instrument cluster gauge was inoperative. the rear wiper did not touch the rear windshield. there was a high pitched noise coming from the right side tire whenever in motion. the dealer indicated it was improperly sealed. *nm

2002 trailblazer ls begins to shake at speeds over 60 mph. the tires have been changed and has not fixed the problem. this problem is not uncommon in this model. it is a possible loss of control hazard. along with this there is a squeaking noise when proceeding over rough terrain (ex. speed bumps, etc.) may be related. *jb

Noises coming from underneath the suv ,check engine light constantly came on and one night i was going around 55 mph my 15 yr old daughter,we heard a loud pop it sound like we had hit something in the road so i stop to see what it was, we saw nothing but the squeaking sound from under the suv got louder some day later jumped in the car started the car and there was that loud sound again only this time the suv would not move in reverse i could hear some spinning like noise so i took it to a shop and i was told that the transmission was striped out in reverse, and that some shaft had broken or something, the mechanic also told me that he had several people come in with the same problem the same model trailblazer 2002 what hurt me so bad is this was my first brand new car, i only had it for two years, and if i every buy another car it want be from gm, i also had problems with my tailgate lamps ,windshield wipers, steering column. *nm

Dt: contact bought a 2002 trail blazer in 2004. contact complained about electrical problems. brake lights/headlights/ 4-wheel switch , and blower switch went out. on 12-720-04 she started having transmission problems. it started grinding when she put in fourth gear. when she took vehicle to the dealer ,they told her that gears were faulty. when she put vehicle in 4-wheel drive, it broke. she had it repaired, and then the headlights went off because the headlight switch burned out. then she had a new actuator put on it and a month later, she had to have another actuator put in. on 7-20-05 while driving, the 4-wheel drive switch came on, and was switching between 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive. vehicle stopped, and she put it in 4-wheel drive. went back to the dealer, who told consumer differential failed. before she could drive home the transfer case module went out. the name of the dealer where she has been taking the car was gillelands at 3019 division street, st. cloud, mn 56301.*ak in addition to all the vehicle's problems, the sunroof was broken and the sway bar links were loose. *tt

I just had an alignment done on our 2002 trailblazer and was told that the right front tie rod is going to need to be replaced. the mechanic showed me how much play was in the right front tire and wheel. it was atleast one half inch. there are no grease fittings on the 2002 chevy trailblazer because they are sealed. the mechanic said that for this to happen it would of not had enough grease put in at the factory. he also said that this is a major safety issue because the wheel can break at the tie rod and the front wheel will not be controllable.*ak

Consumer heard clanking noises coming from the front/rear sway bar. dealership repaired the problem. *ak

Driving down a hill and vehicle strted to hop and all of a suddenly pulled hard to the right. i regained control before crashing into a guardrail. took vehicle to mechanic and was tol rear facing bolt on upper control arm was missing and hole was elongated.*ak

I have had my trailblazer for 6 months (since 9-29-03). i bought it used and have taken it in to get things that have gone wrong with it checked. i bought the 3/36,000 warranty and have not benefited from it. i have read that there was recall on the front lower control arm brackets, which may fracture. i took it in because i was hearing a noise when i turned. they told me what the problem was and i drove it for another month while the parts were being ordered and the ok from gm to cover this repair. i have taken it in to solve the problem of the tail lights to keep burning out and failing. i have received many warnings from legal authorities and my response is that i did not know and have just gotten it fixed. i also have a problem with the engine dying while driving, idling, or accelerating. dealership says that they are "trying to reproduce the situation" but cannot. i know that it happenned, just fix it. i have tried to trade it in, but owe too much still and i am very unhappy with gm and their approved dealership. *ak

Lower control arms. *ak

The rear right brake light was inoperative. *ak. also the seat belt buckle was loose, the brakes squeaked and the front stabilizer was replaced because a noise was heard when the consumer made slow turns. *jb

I have a 2002 chevy. trail blazer ltz model # [xxx] this vehicle sits so much lower in the front than the back. the rear view mirror is so low it obscures the line of sight to the right front area while driving. my wife and i have had three (3) near misses with cars in intersections and almost ran over a child on a bicycle coming from the right. this is a design destined to create an accident! *jb information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

The brake lights have burned out in the last 3 mos. 3 different times. the passenger side brake light seems to go out every month. i was complaining about the passenger seat belt locking up but thought i was just doing it wrong. after reading other complaints i noticed that it is a common occurrence. i have had the trail blazer in the shop for the noise under the front when you hit a bump. they can't seem to find the cause of the noise. the back gate would pop open just driving down the road. dealer adjusted the latching hook. has not done it since. now after doing some research i have found that there are 8 recalls on this vehicle and i have just received 2 notices. this is a bit unnerving. *jb

Consumer states that the front axle seal needed to be replaced due to some leaking of a fluid substance. contacted dealer. please provide further information. mr

Dont know where to start. squeaking noise when going over bumps (sounds like it is coming from suspension). metal grinding noise in brakes, ticking noise from engine, seat belt and airbag lights have come on for no reason, rear latch has come open while driving, tail lights and brake lights burning out freqently, transmission was slipping on take off, no cause found in the several times it has been taken in for this. now my transmission is out. just happened yesturday. don't feel like i can blame the dealership after reading all the complaints. i think the fault lies on the shoulders of gm. *ak

Something loose and banging in the front end when you hit bump. i have had vehicle to two chevrolet dealers and they say they can hear it, should not do that, but they cannot find the problem. i have only 2000 miles left on my warranty, then what?.how many chevrolet dealers, mr goodwrench guys does it take to fix this vehicle under warranty. after warranty i'll bet they find the problem. *nlm

The outside mirrors on both sides reposition themselves randomly. this usually occurs when the key is inserted in the ignition. the dealer has disconnected the memory module of the computer and the problem persists. the drivers side seat will occationally reposition itself. this usually occurs when the key is placed in the ignition. the radio will change channels while driving down the road. i am presently engaged in a texas lemon law proceeding to attempt to get chevrolet to re-purchase the automobile.*ak

The brake light went out multiple times without warning. the dealer was aware of the problem. there were no incidents to report at this time. *ak the consumer stated when the vehicle was warm, the was a noise in the front end, the dealer replaced the axle seal and bearing, the o2 oxygen sensor was replaced. the 4-wheel drive was inoperative. *jb *nm
